girlfriends is married to an auctioneer and I clerk at the
auctions occassionally. It makes for quite an interesting
day. It's fun to see all the items for bid...antiques,
cars, guns and furniture. People watching is fun. :)
And it's always interesting to see how high
the bidding goes! My responsibilities are to
register the bidders by scanning their drivers license
into the computer, giving them a bidder's paddle and
number, and then checking them out....taking their
money, running credit cards, stamping checks
and counting cash....lots of cash!
It will be a nice change from the wallpaper
stripping I've been doing the last few days!
nice. have fun. my thoughts immediately went to that country song....
ReplyDeleteThe Auctioneer. Leroy Van Dyke.
ReplyDelete35 dollar 40 now 40 dollar 40 dollar ♪♪♪
Every time I work one, I'm still amazed that they can talk like that! ha.
I love auctions. I would have a hard time working because I would be too busy looking at all the goodies!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting and fun time...
ReplyDeleteWe have a friend who is an Auctioneer for cattle... I love to hear him call.
I know two girls that would love to help strip that wall-paper! And they fair well at painting :)
ReplyDeleteYour auction reminded me; my junk-shoppe dealer has in over 500 "new" books from his last paper auction (joy!)
Subby ~ I'd love to have 2 girls help me! But warn them that we'll be surrounded by men! ha.
ReplyDeleteWould love to look through 500 books! :)
They'd not mind so much ( and they painted better than some of the men~HA! )
ReplyDeleteSubs ~ ok...send them down...or, er...over! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds fun! Can you bid if you see something you must have?
ReplyDeleteBetsy, well...I emailed them, heh...g'night :)
ReplyDeleteCat ~ yes, they said I could bid on something if I wanted but I haven't yet.
ReplyDeleteI hate removing wallpaper. Get all the help you can.
ReplyDeleteI'd do anything to get out of it.
Now, helping with an auction should be fun!
"Do I hear 40 dollars?" SOLD!
Sounds like a fun day. We bought a car at an auction once. It was very exciting.
ReplyDeleteI'll give ya two dollars for this here post.
ReplyDeleteI thnk you are right about that! A very fun change, I would love to be there! :D
ReplyDeleteIt sounds very interesting! I've only ever been to one auction before & it really was an eye-opening experience. We bought our bed there... it was brand new seconds.. imperfect stitching on mattress but everything else was spot on. It was worth $2500 dollars new & we paid $450 for it!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun Betsy!!
"It will be a nice change from the wallpaper stripping I've been doing the last few days!"
ReplyDeleteYou're not the first stripper I've ever known, but you're definitely one of the cutest! ;-)
What a fascinating job. The things you must see! I have only gone to one auction and I went wild and bid--and won--an falling-apart white wicker rocking chair. I loved that chair but it leaned to the left--I always pictured an old gentleman with a stiff leg sitting on the porch in it--we finally had to throw it away but I always loved the experience and excitement of bidding and winning.
ReplyDeleteWow. That should be a lot of fun to do. I had been to an auction once. Its funny how people keep bidding for items even though they seem so worthless.
ReplyDeleteSmiles:)
I have never been to an auction, but I sure would love to attend one.;) Have fun,
ReplyDeletexoxo
If any little postcards or CDV's come up, put a bid in for me Betsy.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun change!!!
ReplyDeleteOH HOW I LOVE an auction! And, it DOES make for great people watching cause people from ALL walks of life come!
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
Matty! LOL! Sold, for sure!
ReplyDeleteAlan ~ I didn't see any this time, but I'll certainly keep an eye out for you! :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see where you've been stripping wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteI can never understand the auctioneers.
you are always wonderfully busy in the best of ways.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a fun job. I'd love it. Do you bring home many treasures yourself?
