- The view from my kitchen desk. Several things I love here...the red berries, the picket fence, and the last of the evening sun.
- The big kids came for a visit this past weekend. New photo of them on my Instagram feed if you are interested. A quick visit but very fun! Miss them already.
- Could you see the solar eclipse? It was most visible here in Ohio from 1 to 4PM. It got dark like evening for a little while. Always very cool to see.
- I can't believe August is almost over. This summer has flown by! I love September, though. Fall is almost here!
- A spider took a shower with me the other night. Not fun. Nope. I didn't know what it was at first since my contacts were out. I'm glad nobody could see the crazy little dance I did in there to get away. haha.

Wow, I love the mix of colors on this photo!
ReplyDeleteIt was cloudy here in Chicago but we were able to see the eclipse at times. A coworker shared his eclipse glasses which made a big difference. I had made a pinhole viewing box for my wife and son but they told me it didn't work at all on this cloudy day. Another coworker drove down to southern Illinois for the day where it was clear and they had a great view of the full eclipse. Can't wait to hear more about it from him tomorrow.
The glasses made a huge difference, didn't they? I tried to take photos with the camera wearing the glasses but it didn't turn out too well. haha.
DeleteWhat a gorgeous photo, Betsy! All the colors in the evening sun are lovely. I would freak out if I shared a shower with a spider. They always send me flying. I'm visiting via Pat's blog from yesterday. Here in Aurora, Colorado the eclipse reached 92%. It was truly something to see! Have a good one!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I kinda freaked out. haha. I'll take just about anything but a spider!
DeleteThanks for visiting, Fundy! :)
Like the huge leap I took to escape the spider that decided to bath with me! No chance of us seeing even a smidgen of the eclipse. Totally overcast, thick fog and drizzle. Yes gloomy August is almost done but we are going to France for four days at the start of September. Cathedrals and chateaux and cheese for us.
ReplyDeleteWell, France sounds like a wonderful thing! Very fun. Just what the doctor ordered?
DeleteHope you are doing well!
I ran for the bus on Monday!
DeleteHi Betsy - so glad you a visit from the big kids ... and I'm sure you miss them - but lovely to have them around, even for a short while. Lovely view from the window - always changing with the season. Poor arachnid - I bet he was more frightened than you ... but I know some people are not happy with spiders. I saw a partial eclipse here in 1999 - the lack of bird song was a surprise ... have a good week - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm sure that spider was scared, too. But once one bit me and it was a bad bite. Not taking that chance again.
Deletelol doing a little ditty
ReplyDeleteSomething more than spider and itty bitty
Not much of an eclipse here
But then just wait until night and darkness is near
Easy as can be
If dark you want to see lol
A ditty was done
Deletelong after the sun.
Night time spider.
Wished the shower was wider.
We experienced a bit of the eclipse here in NoAla. It got dark rather like a cloudy day then the sun came back out. Loved seeing your handsome son and his wife on your Instagram account. Our Baylor started school and he is in a class with some special needs and some regular kiddos. So far his teacher says he is doing well. It is hard to let them go and find their wings, especially when they are on the spectrum. We are hoping to see progress in speech and social skills.
ReplyDeleteThat's really good news about Baylor. Glad he has started the school year off well.
DeleteHope his mom is doing well. I always thought starting school was a stressful time and yet
a little reprieve, too.
That is exactly the way his mom feels too Betsy.
DeletePretty shot!
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to see your kids, but never long enough.
We had about 80% here - got an eerie dark glow for awhile.
Yikes on spiders in the shower!
Yeah..the dark eerie glow...it's really weird, isn't it? Fun to experience.
DeleteI was in the library from 9:30 a.m. to almost 4 o'clock yesterday! During the early part of the day, they received no less than sixty-five calls asking them if they had those special glasses for viewing the eclipse... and the answer was no. Personally, I didn't care about it at all. I'll just have to wait for the next one. Ha.
ReplyDeleteThis occurred to me last night, hours after I left my previous comment.
DeleteI couldn't find the quote on any of your recent posts, but didn't you say somewhere that you were more or less losing interest in your blog at the expense of the time you're enjoying on Instagram? Well, that just hit home tonight after reading a post where you talk about having taken a new photo of the big kids, and then tell us all to go to Instagram if we wanted to see it, instead of including it on your post!
I guess it's a logical step since your posts have been dedicated more and more to your photography as your skills have increased. Just seems a bit sad somehow to think that we bloggers may be gradually losing you.
Well, thanks for even noticing that. It was in the comment section last post, I think....not in the actual post. Just have other things taking my time...good stuff...and I'll admit that the interest in my blog has suffered. The relationships aren't the same that kept me here, sadly. Might be time to move on or at the very least post less regularly. We'll have to see what happens here in the near future.
DeleteCan't believe the library received all of those calls. Crazy! It was cool but I was still shocked at the hysteria of it all. :)
Please stay in blogland, Betsy, It would be so sad here without you . . . :(
Deleteand besides who else could I write funny poems for? . . . :)
Lovely view. I am sure if I had a view like that it would inspire me to write you a poem.
ReplyDeleteGlad the big kids came to brighten your weekend. Yes the months are flying by, quite sad for a sun loving guy like me.
Did not see the eclipse from here unfortunately.
Lucky ole spider is what I would say . . . haha. :)
ok..I'm expecting a poem very soon then! haha.
DeleteSpider was lucky only for a moment and then was washed down the drain! :)
Haha! Ok. . . .
DeleteThere was a young lass from Ohio,
Who showered with a spider . oh my oh!
When she saw it she shrieked,
As down the plug hole it streaked.
And when it vanished she gasped with a sigh oh!!!
Haha!
hilarious :)
DeleteHI Betsy....
ReplyDeleteFlying by for sure...lets hope for a beautiful Fall...
I am sure you loved having those big kids home for a while💕
Cheers!
Linda :o)
I"m really looking forward to fall...so beautiful!
DeleteAfter all that complaining about rain, humidity and heat all summer,
we have our windows open today for the first time in forever!
Yay...it's such a nice change!
Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteSomewhere a spider is blogging, "A crazy dancing lady tried to drown me. I am lucky to be here!"
lol...you crack me up!
DeleteYour photo is lovely! =) I follow you on Instagram and enjoy the photos that you share there also!
ReplyDeleteSeptember is my favorite month too. =)
Can't wait for September! I love everything about it.
DeleteI love the view from your kitchen windows. I am surprised the cats haven't gotten rid of spiders everywhere. The need to pick up the pace on that. So fun to have kids visit. Glad you could enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteI've told them about getting the spiders for me! haha. I guess they need to do a sweep
Deleteof the shower before I get in there. How's miss kitty....survive the vet ok?
. . . and a nice photo of the big kids . . . :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? But they don't take a bad photo ever. haha.
DeleteLucky ole spider is what I would say . . . haha. :)

I don't know...he was running toward me but I'm pretty
Deletesure he was trying to get away from the water dropping on him from
above. lol....
Me and spiders don't get on either.
ReplyDeleteSame here. But do the spiders know this? lol.
DeleteLove the colours in this photo and the play of light is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWas fighting horrible flu during the eclipse but did notice that it got eerily dark for a bit. We only had a partial one in my area.
