Random Thoughts

  1. The best part about a Magnolia tree is that they bloom twice. We had our spring bloom and now the summer blooms are beginning to open!
  2. If you water your vegetable garden, it will start raining before you get the hose wound back up on its holder.  I know because it happened to me twice this week. :)
  3. Alex stayed home with me the entire week!  Nasty cold with a gross nose and a cough.  He's much better today so I think we're finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  Lucky boy did get two trips to McDonald's for french fries, though.  Today he was actually singing as he ate them...a sure sign he's feeling better. haha.
  4. I gave myself a pedicure today.  Green seems to be the color choice for the summer. :)  I think last summer it was all about blue.
  5. Do you have plans for the weekend?  We have none...but that's the way we like it.  Quiet and relaxing. :)

  1. I didn't realize they bloomed twice. Very special.
Singing while enjoying French fries... why not! :-)
This weekend I am practicing driving my wheelchair. It's been a bit challenging, but fun. I have a walker now, too. No learning curve there!

    1. Just so you're having fun, Suzie! I'm guessing it's motorized?
Don't run over anyone now! haha.

    2. Yup, it's motorized. So far I haven't taken anyone down! I am becoming a bit more adept with the joystick. Tomorrow we go outside. Eeep!

  2. I plan to spend some time cross stitching. I am also making a trip to the post office to mail a little gift to DIL, Katy. It is a contraption that allows her to velcro a bracelet around her wrist and Baylor's wrist and a bit of tubing between the two. It allows Baylor to walk on his own but gives Katy some peace of mind that he cannot dart away. A friend of mine posted a picture of it and I knew it was perfect for my spectrum Grimmlin. So glad Alex is feeling better. Summer colds seem to be worse than winter colds.

    1. That sounds like a great idea. Spencer is our one that used to dart off on his own. I used to put a bright yellow ball cap on him so I could spot him quickly if he ran...and boy could he run! Whew!

  3. Glad to hear Alex feels better. We had a busy week with visits. And tomorrow we leave for our holidays. Have a wonderful summer. I will be looking forward catching up with you here once we are back :-)

  4. Hi Betsy - I too didn't realise the magnolia flowered twice - I'm sure our usual one doesn't. Enjoy it. Oh gosh that sounds rather gungie - just glad Alex is getting better ... and oh yes a visit to the big M eases the nuisance value ... especially if you can sing along! Have a peaceful weekend - I'll be sorting a few things out here that need to be done and thus it is very quiet - but love the space time ... enjoy your weekend - cheers Hilary

    1. Maybe all varieties, don't but ours does and another one on our street. It is a nice surprise right in the middle of summer!

  5. Third time lucky to comment - glad Alex is feeling better. That must make life a bit easier. Of course I have my colonoscopy booked in. That will be a load of fun I'm sure. Oh, and on Thursday I was diagnosed with a hole in my heart! Gosh life just gets better and better. Enjoy relaxing.

    1. A hole? Good grief. Was it something you were born with? So what will they do about that?
And tomorrow you get your test results, right? Thinking of you!

    2. They think stacks of people are born with a hole but nearly all close up when you're a baby. And they'll need to do a load more tests to see if it should be closed to my benefit, meanwhile I am drinking two litres of stuff that tastes just like lemon bath oil. Yuk yuk yuk but I can't have the tests without it. Re hole - read about Jimmy Osmond. He had one too.

  6. I don't think magnolias over here flower twice. Lucky you! Glad Alex is getting better and hope he hasn't spread the bugs around. I'm supposed to be going to our local agricultural show today but I'll wait until it stops raining!

    1. I think I'm the only one that got part of the bug but not nearly like he did.
I've felt fine for days now. Hope the rain stopped so you got to the show!
I know you took your camera. :)

  7. Magnolia trees are so beautiful when in bloom! One of our neighbors has a small one and I love it when it is blooming. I'm so glad to hear that Alex is feeling better. I love it that he was singing while he was eating his french fries! :) Our weekend will be quiet and spent at home. I have a bit of reorganizing to do in the kitchen. Hubby wants to work in the garden. We will be enjoying lots of veggies from the garden for our meals over the weekend. Happy weekend to you!

    1. We've had a lot of rain so far but it sure didn't make the humidity go away! I'm happily staying indoors. The mosquitoes are extra bad this year and they just love me! I got 6 bites just standing on the porch a minute! Hate that....

  9. You must have a different variety of Magnolia to mine, which flowers just once a year. We have just pruned it for the second year and it looks a much better shape. Pruning time is around late June/July.
Funny about watering the veg garden causing rain. In my experience rain comes when I wash the car or clean the house windows . . . spoiling both jobs.
Glad Alex is improving and enjoying his double McDonald treats. I 'sinned' greatly this week when I stopped at one of those kerb side colesterol merchants and ordered a Great British Bap comprising a large Bap filled with 2 eggs, 2 fried sausages, 2 fried bacon slices, fried mushrooms and lashings of brown sauce . . . hahaha. YUM. Surprisingly it has not made any difference to my weight which is gradually continuing to go down. When I started my diet I felt I was walking on planet Jupiter . . lol
I think my feet need more than a pedicure ~ they need a miracle . . . haha, but I bet your's are very pretty.
I had plans to work in the garden at The Big Kids' but it poured down and I got drenched and had to be rescued by a nice hot shower. My clothes were ringing wet . . . lol

    1. I had to look up what a BAP was. haha. Sounds delish and full of some of my favorite
things to eat. You're working so hard you already worked off the calories! Good for you!
Rained here all day, too. Storms in the night woke us up! lol

  10. Our magnolias are just starting to bloom too. Love them!
Funny how rain and sprinkling works. It does the same thing here. :)
    Glad Alex is feeling better.

  11. I wish we had a Magnolia tree, it looks so beautiful.
Do the deer eat it ? We have to choose wisely, since they think everything in the garden is for their pleasure :)
