Random Thoughts

Sitting beside me on the couch as I type.

  1. We had a great thunderstorm this morning.  Dark as evening, lightning and thunder, pouring rain.  Then the winds blew it all away and the sun came out.  Loved it.
  2. I'm dabbing into spring cleaning a bit each week instead of blocking off a solid few months. haha.  This week I wiped down all the doors inside the house.  All 25!  Why do we have a crazy amount of doors?  Good grief!  Each closet has 2 bi-fold doors.  A few have 4 doors!  I'm happy to say that they are done and all those six panels dust catchers are fresh and clean.  Tomorrow I'm planning on making all the light fixtures clean and sparkly.  I should be completely done with spring cleaning by Christmas! ha.
  3. If you love vintage linens, I'm slowly putting some in my etsy shop. I don't know how many people use dresser scarves or table runners these days but some of these would be very sweet repurposed into throw pillow covers or tea towels.
  4. We're packing up the Jeep over the Memorial Day weekend and heading to Pennsylvania to visit Taylor and Lauren!  It will be our first trip to their new home and we are so excited!  Well, not so excited to ride 6 hours with the guys, but we'll see how it goes. haha.  I'm especially excited to be the company instead of the hostess, which seldom happens!
  5. When we get home, I'm looking forward to planting my little veggie garden!  The Mister tilled my little planting beds last weekend so everything is ready to go.  Maybe if I get myself ahead of schedule, I can get it planted next week, but I will be surprised if that happens.  Meanwhile, my blackberries have blossoms!
  6. The boys have a three day weekend starting tomorrow!  I'm looking forward to not having to pack lunches tonight and sleeping in a little in the morning.  Maybe that's the reason for the glass of wine tonight....it's the weekend here already! :)

  1. I hope you have a wonderful trip over Memorial weekend. Packing lunches....and I made just two, was not my favorite. I had Bruce carry my tomatoes in and out with the freeze. I should have had the two of them on wheels.

    1. I really should have planted this week. I don't know what I was thinking! I do have pots of flowers out and had to bring them in two nights this month because of frost. But I think we're probably safe now.

Lunches are not my favorite thing either...each one is different and I wait too late and I'm tired. haha.

  2. I hope you have a great visit with your son and his wife. Hope the boys do well on your road trip. Look forward to reading about it, when you get back.

    1. It should be fun! Lots of effort to take the guys anywhere but we'll be sure to pack everything that will make them comfortable away from home.

  3. I love your #2! Although at this point in time I do feel as if I have been at this for months! Oh...but I do love the results of my efforts! Yay for the mister getting your planting beds tilled so that you can set to work at planting. Isn't it fun to get to play in the dirt? Have a great weekend!

    1. Yes...the results! After the lights comes windows. Boys, do they need it, too!
I do love my little garden...and it really is tiny. I like it that way...just what we need so it's manageable. Very fun!

  5. I am glad you explained for people like me (who read your blog with their first coffee and are still half way asleep) that you had the vine in the evening ,.. somehow I thought 'wow Betsy really went for this" ... thinking you had the vine in the morning while in bed during the storm ... hahaha ... omg ... lol .... you definitely had me LOL with spring cleaning done by Christmas ... that's me ... and I realise the only thing to do about it is to stop figting the thought I should have it already done! ... have a wonderful time with T and L and safe safe travels! xo

  6. Hi Betsy - gosh how lovely to get to see Lauren and Taylor's new home ... fantastic you'll all be together .. though the road trip I can see will be a little troublesome ... but I'm sure all will be well - lots of trains, more trains, more trains and even more trains?! Well done on the spring cleaning lark, and getting the beds with the Mister ready for your veg ... it'll be so satisfying to see them come up ... have fun and enjoy this weekend - cheers Hilary

    1. I do enjoy putting out that little garden. Hopefully it will be a good growing season...you just never know! Last year the zucchini died off way too early and my spaghetti squash refused to sprout even after two plantings! On the other hand, we had too many cucumbers! Lol.....

  7. Wish I could be sitting beside you chatting while we indulged!
How fun to be visiting Taylor and Lauren in their new home. Yay!
I admire your courage in the long trek with the boys but it's something you probably couldn't have fathomed in their younger years so that's progress!
We have a three-day weekend here, too. I hope it will be cooler. The last two days have been hit and humid... like July! Ugh.
    Enjoy your long weekend!

    1. Oh, me too! The mister doesn't care for wine, so I'm a lonely drinker. Lol...
We've had our a/c on the last few days here....warm and humid. Ugh. I didn't even step outside yesterday.
We sweet ladies can melt (or get cranky) if too hot, right? Hahaha.....

    2. Yup! Our a/c isn't functional until the end of May. Grrr. But today is much cooler so it's all good!

  8. Packing is the part I do not enjoy about travel. LOL! But, yes, being the guest instead of hostess is pretty cool! ;) It is always so nice to spend time with them, regardless. I'll be wishing you a safe, smooth, speedy six hours. blessings ~ tanna

    1. Yes, the good will outweigh the bad for sure. Alex insists on sitting up front by the driver so I'm usually packed in tight in the back with the other two boys! Lol....I've been thinking that maybe I'll drive! That would solve that...haha....

  9. How are things? My doctor prescribed me a book on mindfulness. She also changed my drugs so I am feeling a lot better at last.

    The shame at your show
You used one of Fox's pet peeves in the first line
haha soooo funny to the feline

    That should be fun
After the nasty 6 hour drive run
    And not having to host
Here's to plenty of wine at your coast

    1. Thank you so much for saving my skin
don't want to feel his anger ever again.
Not a usual misspelling for me
my mind must have been up a tree.

The boys will be fine on our trip
as long as we have all their electronics under zip.
      DVD's and their favorite foods...
then they will be happy and not rude.
Sleeping in the same room with them, though,
will be enough to pack up and go
      after a few nights...
      could cause some fright. hahaha....

  13. Your approach to spring cleaning sounds just fine. I should do my lights - there a dead spider in one of the globes in the bathroom!
Hope you enjoy your trip; I'm sure Taylor and Lauren will look after you.
