In working on my New Year's Resolution of
"A place for everything and everything in its place",
I wanted to find a place for my collection of old
canning jars. They've been in a box in my studio for
a couple of years now and I knew I either needed to
display and enjoy them or let them go!
Knowing that they look best with light shining through them,
I decided to put the second shelf in my garden window that
I hadn't used yet. I was afraid it would look too crowded,
but it looks pretty good! And it gives me that spot for
the jars that I needed. I think the remainder of my
collection is going to be used in the pantry, so maybe
I won't have to let go of any just yet.
I'm liking the way they look with my vintage
planter collection, too!
♥
Love, Love, Love all your Treasures. they look perfect in the window.
ReplyDeleteKind of coveting that little birdie too.
Isn't that little birdie so sweet? It's a McCoy, too. It was a hostess gift from Thanksgiving.
DeleteLove it! :)
They look really pretty in your window.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was time to dust it all out anyway, so I got that crossed
Deleteoff my spring cleaning list while I was at it. haha.
I really enjoyed this post Betsy...
ReplyDeleteReminds me of being at home...
The jars look fantastic..
Enjoy your evening..
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Nothing like little houseplants in a sunny window, eh? :)
DeleteHey, you're my 'go to' on succulents. Do you know if that one sprout
is a flower...or will become one?
I find they usually look more like flower "buds"...but, you never know!
DeleteNot sure what kind of plant that is...very pretty, though!
Fingers crossed!😊
Yes, I can see that. Maybe that is all that it will be. Still, I like it...adds a bit of
Deleteinterest to that plant! Still need my hen and chicks!
These are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe new jars just aren't the same!
DeleteI love the canning jars, too. I have some that belonged to my mother-in-law. I think I just may dig them out of storage. Thank you for the inspiration. I really like your vintage planters too...and how you have placed the little birds here and there. I can hardly wait for auction season to begin here. I saw that you were going to the auction today and I envied you.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have auctions year round down there? What's up with that?
DeleteYes, get the jars out of storage! So fun!
We've got some of those. Sitting in a box like yours were!
ReplyDeleteI think that is very common! haha.
DeleteLove the window where you can display lovely vintage jars among the greenery. Great job Betsy. .I would not part with any of those vintage treasures!
ReplyDeleteI have parted with a ton of stuff over the last few years! Paring down is hard at first, but then fun and freeing. But there are still things I want to keep....and if I can have them where I enjoy them, that's even better!
DeleteYou know I love those old jars! That's a beautiful collection and a great place to display it!
ReplyDeleteYes, I do! They are so fun, aren't they? Endless uses....
DeleteThey look great in your garden window. Gives the illusion of having a mottled glass pane in your window. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love that old wavy glass with it's imperfections and bubbles. I look for it in framed pictures, too. So cool!
DeleteOh my...your window is so wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteTHanks for sharing.
Love
Thank you. I'm looking forward to putting a few more herbs in it!
DeleteHi Betsy - I love that window of yours a very clever idea ... and those jars remind me of my youth - clever thought to display them like that. Beautiful photos - cheers and happy weekend - Hilary
ReplyDeleteThere were merely useful, typical kitchen storage at one time. It would blow the minds of women of that time to know how collectible some of them have become!
DeleteOooh, they are so pretty in your window. I have several blue jars too but they are packed with most of our belongings right now. Can't wait to see them again.
ReplyDelete...and a brand new spot to display them in your new house! I can't wait to see that, either!
DeleteThat window bay is very pretty, a great idea.
ReplyDeletethank you....it does make doing dishes a pleasure!
DeleteAll shiny in the window
ReplyDeleteAs they stand nice and neat in a row
Birdie is a nice touch too
Go Birdie Lover...back to haunt you lol
All shiny should make you happy
Deleteand maybe a little sappy
not a speck of dust in sight
makes everything alright. haha.
Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful! I'm glad you found a way to enjoy them instead of letting them go! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteMe, too. And much better than having them sit in a box.
DeleteI love them there Betsy...the light coming through them is a pretty sight.
ReplyDeleteI do agree....they need to be where light can shine through!
DeleteWhat a lovely display, and you get to enjoy it while washing dishes and preparing all those fabulous meals like you do. It's those loving touches that make a kitchen the heart of a home.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree....everyone gathers in the kitchen...why not make it beautiful and enjoy it to the fullest!
DeleteVery effective and the jars look fanrastic with the light shining through them. They look far too interesting to let them go. I seem to remember an earlier post about them a while ago and I liked them then too . . :)
ReplyDeleteGreat for pickled onions I would think and chutney . . :)
I looked back in my post history and the last time I talked about canning jars was April 2014. My, you do have a good memory! haha.
DeleteOoh Betsy, I absolutely love your old Mason jars....
ReplyDeleteI have my collection above my cabinets, but it's getting harder to wash them off regularly. Yours on the other hand are right within reach.
You have a lovely vintage pottery collection, I remember my grandma had lots of green/blue planter pieces, I've often wondered what happened to them over the years.
Hugs,
~Jo
Oh, those things on high shelves seem to get just an annual wash, don't they? haha I have some high shelves like that. I have a weakness for dishes, glassware and pottery....but you probably have figured that out by now. haha.
DeleteBeutiful window, I need this in my kitchen !! really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI must have missed the blog that shared about this in the past. I really like how the window opens up your room. A neat greenhouse for plants and display.
