Moon above my home sweet home.
2-10-17
February's full moon is called the Snow Moon.
Like all full moons, it was named by the Native Americans,
and given the name because February has more snowfall
than any other month on the calendar!
I wonder if my love of the moon has anything
to do with my Cherokee DNA.
And you know I love snow!
Snow.
Moon.
Snow Moon.
♥
You always take amazing moon shots.
ReplyDeleteI love that you have Cherokee DNA!
Yeah...my great, great grandmother on my mothers side was a full blooded Cherokee!
DeleteI don't know much about her, but I do have a picture. I'll have to post it some time.
You are the moon whisperer!
ReplyDeleteI wish he'd whisper back! Ha.
DeleteStunning Betsy - the story line too .. and from a very light sleety Eastbourne - happy weekend ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteSleet! Sounds like a good Saturday to stay inside!
DeleteI think it is your Cherokee blood that is causing this fascination with the moon! You should have been named 'Pocahontas', or even 'Stands with Fist' (was that you in Dances with Wolves?)
ReplyDeleteI like the name 'Moon Whisperer' by Suzanne, very appropriate. Ha!
Haha...no, it's Pink Cloud. I gave myself that name when I was very young...back when playing Cowboys and Indians was still politically correct. Haha.
DeleteA double win for you
ReplyDeleteThe moon and snow out there to view
And more on the way
Ugg is all we can say
Send some to me!
DeleteI want it up to my knees!
Beautiful shot and lots of detail . . . but I can't see any snow . . lol . . why . . because it is coming here. Fascinating about the American Indian names . . . Snow Moon and Pink Cloud. I should think you are very proud of your Cherokee ancestry. Start a fire and send me a smoke message . . . lol
ReplyDeleteA smoke message would be a nice change for you, wouldn't it? I know you're used to rain dances...lol.
Deletelol . . . . yes it would be a change and we could sit by a nice warm fire and smoke the peace pipe . . haha
DeleteYes, it absolutely does! Just like my love of gardening comes from my long line of ancestors who farmed. That moon was plumb gorgeous last night.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have seen the eclipse but didn't. ...or the comet!
DeleteNice moon shot! I don't think we've seen the moon for 6 weeks now, winter here is so cloudy.
ReplyDeleteWe've only have a few clear nights in several weeks! Got lucky on this one!
DeleteI posted pictures on my blog as well Betsy. It was just amazing. And speaking of Cherokee DNA, I am from north Georgia where the Cherokee lived and developed their written language. New Echota, Spring Place and the Chief Vann house are very interesting historic sites.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. My g-g grandmother was from Tennessee....she married a white man to avoid the Trail of Tears.
DeleteAn amazing picture of the snow moon over your home! February is when we normally get the most of our snow here, but one would never know it by today's weather. In the 50's with lots of sun. Our six or so inches of snow that was on the ground two days ago is now all gone! Glad I took my snow pictures yesterday. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe were in the high 50's today, too! No sun, though.
DeleteYou capture it so beautifully, Betsy!!! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice, clear night for once!
DeleteWonderful photo!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Luna!
DeleteHello again! :-)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to tell you that the lovely day you wished for me this morning just became more lovely! I wanted to let you know my package arrived safely this afternoon and I am delighted. It shall be featured tomorrow! :-) Thank you so much, Betsy.
Oh, that's wonderful! I'm glad it arrived safely and you like it! Enjoy! :)
Delete💕 the Moon 💕
