In Search Of The Best Toilet Paper

I've been on a search for the last several months for a better
toilet paper.  Maybe I've become more finicky lately but each
type I tried didn't quite meet my expectations! haha.
They were either too scratchy, not absorbent, or too fuzzy.
There are some hilarious names for toilet paper that is so
fuzzy that it leaves bits on you.  Nobody wants toilet paper
lint left behind!  You can "Google" the terms if you like...
I don't want to cause any of my prim-and-proper
(or elderly men) to faint right here on my post. hahaha....

My favorite so far has been Charmin Essentials Strong.
The rolls are nice and big.  The paper is soft but not linty.
It's very absorbent.  And it doesn't clog the toilet.

Do you have a toilet paper gripe?
Do you have a favorite?
Inquiring minds want to know!

***Update....after a few recommendations to try Cottonelle
Clean Care, we tried it and declared it the winner!
Soft, strong and no bits left behind!  Yay!

  1. I use Charmin Strong, too! Can't stand the ones that leaves parts of it behind. Bahaha! Sometimes I switch it up, though, when the store has the Charmin Chamomile. Just because it smells so good.

    1. hahaha...oh, I should have known you would use the same as me! We have got to be related....hahaha...
I haven't tried the Chamomile yet. Will give it a try!

  2. I had surgery 15 years ago and now I use the bathroom far more than I would care to admit. The only TP that works for me that doesn't leave dingle berries or give me "diaper rash" is Charmin Aloe and E. There are a few things in life that you can't put a price on and one of them is good TP!

    1. Charmin Aloe and E...I'll have to try that one, too! Dingle berries...hahahaha....nope, don't want any of those! I do agree, a good tp is a necessity!

  3. Bought some Charmin soft and ugh, it was so thin one has to use twice as much not good and we have too many rolls left...Really like Charmin Strong the best. Haven't heard of Camomile will have to check that out.

    1. Yeah, it has to be absorbent....one kind I tried...can't remember which now,....
left my hand wet. What on earth! lol! I had to really wad that stuff up to
prevent that. Couldn't wait til the package was used up.

  4. Well we usually get Scott because we got used to using it when the kids were little and they could not roll a bunch off at one time. But my sis in law informed me she would be bringing her charmin to our vacation home in the future.:)

  5. I hate it when the two layers don't match up... do you know what I'm talking about?

    1. Me too! I fixed a roll that was doing that at work today. :)

    2. The perforation lines? hahaha...yes, I think I tried a brand like that. The tear off wasn't very neat! Might cause an ocd person like me a little stress!

    3. Oh..you can fix it? Maybe you aren't talking about the perforations?

      Delete
    4. Yes - it's the perforations. Usually if you peel back one layer and roll it around once, they match up again. :)

  6. Funny but true! I buy the Charmin Strong too, but have never seen the Chamomile type. I'll have to look for it!

    1. I was concerned that the Chamomile had a scent...I didn't think they put scent on paper any more..or color. But I just looked it up and the scent is on the cardboard roll. Very interesting!

    2. Well dang, I never knew it was on the cardboard roll. It sure does make the whole roll smell good. I was a little bit concerned about them putting fragrance on the actual paper...now I don't have to be. Yippee!

    3. Yes! That's the first thing I thought of! Remember when it was scented paper and had colors and prints? Cancer causing stuff! Sounds like this is safe. :)

    4. I looked for it in our store yesterday, but none there. I'll have to check elsewhere!

  7. I use Cashmere. Don't know if you have that in the States or not. Haven't tried Charmin.
Glad to see you roll the TP the "right" way... that's a whole 'nother debate! :-)

    1. No, we don't have that kind! But I like the name! haha.

    2. Oh yeah...a whole other subject. I'm the only one in this house that cares but I care a lot! haha.

    3. Like Suzanne..we use Cashmere....lovely stuff!
      Cheers!

  8. Not linty. I'll try it. Ours leaves lint and dust everywhere. No further comment.

  9. Hi Betsy - well that's a first for me to read about ... we have Charmin here, but I prefer Andrex .. .but they constantly change things ... so never quite know what I'm picking up - other than loo paper. I guess with the boys you need stuff that doesn't get clogged in the loo if they decide to use rolls of it. I gather that the simpler the paper is the better - fewer chemicals ... that's my lot! Cheers Hilary

  10. Same here. I've been trying to find one that is not like gossamer, a substance consisting of cobwebs spun by small spiders, You can imagine what happens when you use it! Even the "thick quilted" ones are suddenly very thin. I think I shall have to resort to the way the Romans cleaned themselves up after you know what.

You cant offend this "elderly man" (old git, please). In fact if I had written my comment in the Anglo-Saxon language, you would have blushed down to your tiny toes and promptly deleted it!

    1. I do agree that gossamer-like paper would not be acceptable. haha....

  11. This is funny, but a necessity! We've tried lots too and we like Charmin also, but the soft.

    1. We tried that just once. I couldn't take the lint left behind.

  12. Glad you hang your "loo rolls" the same way as me. Some have the paper on the wall side. Arguement have been known amongst household member over this point and divorces have been caused by the conflict . . . lol

I have found a regular supply of strong, absorbent, comfortable, cost effective toilet rolls, from Iceland ~ no not the place but a supermarket.

But the bottom line is that as long as one's fingers don't go through it whilst in action then a lot of them are fine . . . haha

    1. the bottom line....lol.

Iceland! I was thinking how chilly that would be...glad you clarified. haha. And no, it's not acceptable if your fingers go through!

    2. Lol . . Really cool toilet rolls . . Haha

    3. Wonder what they used before toilet rolls were invented . . . lol

    4. Eddie, A short stick with a piece of rag tied on one end, rather like a washing up mop. At least you could wash it out and reuse it several times! That was the Roman way.

  13. haha like a post from the cat
Going all TP at your mat
Orlin won't eat the cheap stuff
He only likes to tear apart the stuff that is tough
    Charmin can do the trick
The cottenelle tp at Costco works some slick
But lint and the cheap stuff
Yeah, no need for that as it is far too rough

    1. just like thee
      with your ocd spree!
      Orlin has good taste
      even in the tp race.
      Several have mentioned cottonelle.
Might have to give that a try as well!

  14. Haha ... glad you found THE one :-) ... but I do understand you ... we have been on a search as well actually and then we settled with Carrefour brand (French store) ... it does the job :-) and the price is very nice too :-)

  15. LOL...this reminds me of a discussion that a group of teen girls and I were having one day in Sunday School class. They all knew what kind of toilet paper they were going to buy when they married and had a family of their own...and Charmin was the vote winner that day. Don't think "Strong" had been invented then, but it would probably win today if I was meeting with the same group of girls. :-)

Totally off the subject of TP...but where do you look to find a going price on lithographs? I have some Audubon ones that I got at an auction a couple of years ago and I'm trying to decide if I want to frame them or try to sell them.

    1. To get the sense of a quick sale, I look on ebay under the sold items so you can see what similar things actually sold for. Other times, if it's something unusual or an item that you think it worth quite a bit, I go to Auctionata.com. It's an online auction house that will give you a valuation based on your photos and description. Hope that helps!

  16. You cannot go wrong with cottonelle toilet paper, it is on sale for $5.00 a 12 pack at safway today, I am stocking up and I got coupons from Kimberly Clark to get my fill...We used Charmin but they are getting chincy with the amount they put on each roll, I buy 18 packs of the Cottonelle not the 12 pack I will get today, it is huge and lasts forever, something about the ridges that clean ones bottom quite well and one uses less than any other kind..I am a not a paid spokesperson for Cottonelle but I am a consumer and I buy it for the homeless people and the pantry where I volunteer and the people rave about it, so give it a go!

  17. Good quality TP has gone down the tubes...............it's like everything else, instead of raising the price they lower the quality. Ever wonder why you are perfectly happy with a product for years and then suddenly it's just not the same? Unfortunately because of having a septic system I have to buy stuff that dissolves pretty quickly, none of that plush stuff for me. So, if I'm a bit cranky sometimes you'll know why.

I did notice, you do hang it correctly. Oh!

  18. I guess we have different brands here. It's annoying that you can find one you like - and then they change the formula, or the size or something so it is not as good. I've been on a similar quest lately.
