After a rainy weekend we had a gorgeous day today.
80 degrees, low humidity and a lovely breeze!
I spent the day with my hands in the dirt...lots of blue flowers
in my flower garden, herbs in pots and some freshening of the
indoor plants, too. SO much better! The veggies are still waiting
to get into the ground....hopefully later this week...
I sure enjoyed working at my garden table....best idea ever and
long overdue! And see the vintage sign? My friend had that
in his antique booth and I stopped in and got it last week.
It was the perfect thing to go above that nesting box.
I wonder if he's figured out who bought it. :)
You can't have a green thumb without getting dirty!
♥
Just look at those nails! Haven't you heard of gardening gloves?
ReplyDeleteYes, and I have some! haha....but sometimes it just feels good to get
Deleteyour hands in it!
I expect as a little girl you liked playing mud pies . . . lol
Deleteof course! haha....
DeleteShall I send a nail brush . . . lol
ReplyDeleteNice digging around isn't it ~ I do that at The Rectory garden all the time.
Love the sign and your little corner . . . :)
I ended up using an old toothbrush! :)
DeleteI expect your nails are fully restored to their former glory . . . old toothbrushes are useful . . :)
DeleteAll back to normal now. haha...
DeleteI like those nails..it's good to get those hands in the dirt without gloves:)
ReplyDeleteLove your gardening nook.
Yeah, it felt great! What a lovely day to be out there, too!
DeleteNow if I'd just painted my nails, the gloves would have come out! haha.
I love your potting area! Good for you for getting your hands dirty. :)
ReplyDeleteIf it had been muggy and hot, I wouldn't have been out there...lol....
DeletePerfect sign for a perfect gardening nook. I used to love getting my hands dirty too. Nothing like the feel of soil.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree and enjoyed getting dirty! I said hello to lots of earth worms, too. Lol....
DeleteFunny... I was going to mention worms! They never bothered me. In fact when I was little, after it rained, I would rescue the earthworms on the sidewalk and put them back in the cool earth.
DeleteIt sounds like the perfect day! Love that Geranium sign above your working table. And I love both pots, especially the bird one so so cute :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is actually important to get our hands in touch with the earth, very grounding, and it brings so much relaxation too.
Isn't that the sweetest sign? I had to have it and love how it finishes off the space. Yes, I agree...it was good to be out there and so relaxing even though I was working! Felt wonderful!
DeleteHi Betsy - that's wonderful to see - and isn't the sign fun ... I hope there'll be some bright red geraniums around ... mind you the purpley-pink ones are wonderful to see - as are all of them! But the purpley-pink will match your blues, silvers and greys with delightful green ... wonderful and so satisfying planting out .. cheers happy week - watching them settle down ... Hilary
ReplyDeleteI thought about buying red geraniums just for the sign but ended up with pink and white! Haha.
DeleteRainy (long for us) weekend here too :-(
ReplyDeleteOMG your nails... Dirty nails but happy!
Have a nice day
I know....ick! Took a while to scrub them clean!
DeleteHere's a little tip for next time you want to dig your nails into the dirt - scrape them along a bar of soap first to get soap under your nails. It can help to keep the dirt out and is already there to help clean them. If you do it please let us know how it works for you.
ReplyDeleteI've done that before and it works great! No bar soap in the house right now. And I do have gloves.....I should have worn them!
DeleteHi Betsy. I think that hand is the hand of a happy gardener. There is nothing like digging in the dirt to put peace in your soul.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree....and very enjoyable before the heat of summer!
DeleteI need to get into my beds and dig up some weeds. I am trying to keep ahead of them but my impatiens and hostas are looking great.
ReplyDeleteIt's so much easier after a rain when the ground is nice and soft! I didn't get any impatiens this year! Might have to do something about that. :)
DeleteOooooh, I'm loving your little potting area. Love the antique sign, genius use of plates beneath your flowerpot, I have one of those scoops..exactly like yours. Ha! And, my fingers have looked like that before, but the dirt was red clay. I'm thinking I need to go ahead and pull out my table like yours and use it the same way. I love all your ideas.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how different our soil is? Ours is black and yours is red! I hope you do the table and enjoy it as much as I am. Wish I had done it a long time ago...it's just so convenient!
DeleteDirt on hands?
ReplyDeleteDirt in strands?
Bah, how can it be
Goes to wash hands after that I did see lol
I knew that would get your OCD!
DeleteWasn't that so mean of me?
lol yes, so very mean
DeleteMy hands stay good and clean
There isn't anything better than digging in the dirt and having a garden. We like your blog.
ReplyDeleteWell, thanks Marg...you're always welcome. Look at that ginger...I have one named Marmalade.
DeleteLike you, I don't use gardening gloves. Doesn't feel right!
ReplyDeleteI rarely use gloves, except when I have to pull spiny weeds. For plain old dirt, I like bare hands the best! I like your garden station and the sign is just perfect!
