I'm always amazed when I see wrens around here during
the winter! They eat insects instead of seed, so the feeders
aren't any help at all to them! I spotted this one popping
in and out of my bird house and knew it was much too
soon to be house hunting! When I took a closer look
I could see he was cleaning it out of all the dead bugs
he could find. Given the cobwebs around it,
I'm guessing he found a meal!
♥
That is the sweetest picture!
ReplyDeleteHe's saying, "Any dead bugs in here?" haha.
DeleteI guess he found a feast! Love the soft browns in this photo. Pretty with the white snowcap.
DeleteI thought the snow cap was charming, too!
DeleteBless his heart!
ReplyDeleteI know! You'd think he'd fly to warmer buggier winters. lol.
DeleteOne of my favorite birds! Love how they sing.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy them for me, we don't have them over here in Idaho.
You can hear them from far away! The birds here aren't singing yet
Deletebut soon!
Well, I'm glad he found the dead bugs. He got word of a warm up and started with appetizers, I guess. Love the birdhouse. It looks like a little log cabin. And the snow on the roof is just so cute. Great picture.
ReplyDeleteOne year I saw a wren swoop into our open garage and clean the dead bugs out of the corners! I'm sure he's ready for a warm meal, so to speak. lol....
Deleteand the birdhouse was rescued from the auction trash. :)
DeleteI've got wrens, and starlings, and bluebirds scurrying to and fro around here... nesting time! They are all trying to find the perfect one. Won't be long now! (Love this picture, by the way.)
ReplyDeleteYour birds are going to nest, raise their broods and have grand-birds before we're to the nesting stage. haha.
DeleteSuper picture . .
ReplyDeleteEither he found some insects to eat or his Mrs told him to do the housework . . . lol
Well, he left the cobwebs! Typical man....didn't get in the corners. haha.
Deleteoh so funny . . . loved the reply . . . lol
Deleteyou sure 'spin' a good yarn . . haha
Such a sweet photo! Glad he found a meal!
ReplyDeleteHe's being very resourceful! haha. A few more weeks and fresh bugs will be plentiful!
DeleteYou have keen observations. Very cool to see the wren at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he'll be thrilled when spring arrives!
DeleteSpring house cleaning a little bit early. So cute Betsy.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to warm up here this week...maybe we'll get some nesting around here!
DeleteOh I'm so glad she got a good meal out of it. I didn't know wrens didn't eat seeds. It is a darling capture. As Suza mentioned on fb, that dallop of snow on the roof just makes the shot perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love how we've turned to describing snow in food terms....sprinkle of powdered sugar, dollop....haha....
DeleteI thought the snow added a bit of charm....so cute!
Oh good grief...without my reading glasses, I thought it was made out of wood!
ReplyDeletelol....
DeleteA little spring cleaning for you
ReplyDeleteThere outside your zoo
What is nasty to one
Sure can give a birdie some fun
Maybe I should let him inside
Deleteand here he could reside
cleaning the spiders out or the corners
the kind that live as little loners.
Wonder what the cats would think.
Might push the parakeets to the brink.
haha.
haha be quite the show
DeleteA youtube hit all aglow
Just send him over here, I need a little help with spiders :-) a beautiful photo!! Aren't birdies just so very photogenic? (Well once you catch them still ... Haha)
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are...one of my favorite things to photograph. And the fact that they need to be still just makes the challenge even more fun!
DeleteHi Betsy - wonderful photo .. and how birds cope when the weather is warm, cold, warm, cold .. etc - we're having that at the moment ... freezing at night, yet they say 15 degC by the weekend - bliss, I say! Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteLook beautiful!!
