A Sign Of Good Luck

Did you know that if a bird lands on your head,
it's a sign of good luck?
No wonder my Garden Girl just keeps smiling!
Every day she has a little extra dose of luck added
to her growing stash.

I've had a butterfly land on my shoulder before.
Does that count?

I'm linking up with Annie and I'd Rather B Birdin'.

  1. Very pretty little birdie.
In my experience if they land on you they have an ulterior motive and your shirt will need a wash.
    Happy weekend.

    1. haha...in that case, I'd rather they landed on my shirt and not my head!

  2. It's also said to be
If a bird poops on thee
And you know what the cat thinks of luck too
Just a made up word by humans through and through

    1. Yes, I know that they aren't true
but pretending so is still fun, too.
But the fountain and pot of gold
are not true, if you're not sold.
      So you better start believing
      or you will be grieving.
      When they never show
      to your unbelieving soul.
      haha.

    2. lmao I guess I'll try and pretend
So as to not pot of gold or fountain of youth offend

    3. It would be like the Polar Express bell
and you'd be swearing all kinds of hell,
not being able to feel the fountain or see the gold
so I'd be young and you'd turn old.
      haha...

I was helping Jon to get the garden tidy in his old flat . . . in the rain . . . awful conditions . . . done now thankfully . .

    4. I did have a nice day...got quite a bit of new things listed in my shop!

Rain there? Well, that's something new......not. haha.

    5. I got sooooaked . . . . and when I got home I had a hot shower.
It is raining now and tomorrow it is going to rain.
When I was on secondment many moons ago to a northern town, Darwen in Lancashire I remember there was a local saying. "If you can't see the tower on the top of the hill it's raining, if you can see the tower it os going to rain . . . " . . . lol

      Glad you had a good day . . :)

    6. I bet they don't even sell body lotion there in the UK. Your air is humid enough that nobody has dry skin. haha.

      Delete
    7. Well the chemists, or should I say pharmacists, orf do you say drug stores, do sell it . . . .
The problem here is certainly humidity and this area is very humid even in summer without the rain because of The Severn Estuary. Apart from making us all sleepy, it is bad for sinuses, arthritis, coughs, lungs, joints, ears, feet . . . you name it. It is a wonder any of us are able to walk around . . . rofl.

    8. Not to mention mold...I'd never be able to live there...I'd be sick all the time!

    1. Yes, they really are...and when the world is white with snow, they just glow!
They are so easy to spot!

  9. Cardinals are very brightly coloured, it makes you wonder how they escape all the predators with not being camouflaged. I think that's probably why we don't see them here.
It's a good thing it was not an albatross that landed on Garden Girl, you would have had a right mess to clean up! Ha.

    1. We have plenty of predators, here. And not just the cats...one year we had a hawk they would sit in the neighbor's tree and watch the feeder. No albatrosses, that I've seen, though.

  11. Now where did that saying come from? That may be true out in the sticks, but here in the big city, I think it is best to keep birds (pigeons mainly), as far away from one's head as possible if you don't want to be pooped on. :)

  12. Hi Betsy, I love this photo, of your Cardinal and this sweet lady. I am at my in-laws house today and about a thousand Red-winged blackbirds landed out back and I saw only one Cardinal land on a pile of sunflowers sprinkled on the rail. It was quite a sight. Have a great week :)

  17. I didn't realize the bird needed to land on your head. I thought it was good luck if one "christened" you it was good luck. I'd prefer the bird itself.

  18. "if a bird lands on your head, it's a sign of good luck"
