Before the afterglow from Christmas is gone, I thought
I'd post a few photos from last week.
There was a flurry of wrapping gifts, giving little thank-yous,
filling slippers instead of stockings and feasting.
Lots of fun memories.
I said last night that I'm going to miss the tree when we take
it down. It's our prettiest tree ever. The living room will seem
dark and plain without it's glow. It won't come down until
New Years Day is over, so we have a few more days to enjoy it!
♥
Looks like you had a lovely Christmas, Betsy. Your photos are always so alive with colour. The slipper idea is fun. Love the tree one with that kitty doing what kitties do best. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe electric fireplace is no more after our living room redo this year...so the spot to hang stockings was gone, too! haha....this was a fun alternative.
DeleteI wish mt two kitties would snuggle like yours, but no such luck, it's a good day if there are no hisses.
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas looks so warm and perfect, you really are an exemplary homemaker and mum, the kind we wish we could all handpick, for our own.
Lovely times at the Brock's place :)
~Jo
Well, aren't you sweet! You know, I think the same about you! When you love that kind of stuff,
Deleteit just comes through. :)
We have an occasional hiss around here, too. Lately it's been Slate and Marmalade. I think they are
competing on who is king of the jungle. haha... But for the most part, they are all very affectionate to each other and snuggle together. It's pouring rain here and chilly and I did a head count and they were all in here last night and this afternoon! That rarely happens!
It is a beautiful tree - sometimes I wish they could stay up all year. But maybe they wouldn't be as special then.
ReplyDeleteLove all these photos. There is a warm, soft glow to them.
Kitties and food - my favourite things. :-)
Slipper stuffing - great idea.
Alex's bottoms are fun - I'd like a pair of those!
I think you're right...they wouldn't be as special. But I'd still like to think of something
Deletethat would have that same glow and coziness that could be there all year....or at least all winter when
the daylight is gone by late afternoon!
The kitties sure look to be enjoying it too
ReplyDeleteStretched out beneath the tree to view
All kinds of christmas cheer
With some shoes filled near
No tree climbing this year!
DeleteThat gave me a cheer!
They just napped on the blanket underneath
as Christmas came and went, so sweet.
So nice to have good memories to fall back on.
ReplyDeleteOh, I think the boys have some good memories...those coats
Deleteespecially. :)
Christmas comes but once a year
ReplyDeleteAnd when it does it brings good cheer.
You made it good, a real nice treat
With lots of pressies in shoe feet
The tree sure looks fine and dandy
No doubt you had some wine and brandy.
The boys are lucky to have their mother
Who is so good to every brother.
I think the feline population
Would join in to give a standing ovation
For all the effort you made this year
To bring happiness and fun and cheer.
We bloggers know you are the best
And hope you found some time to rest.
The lights are great upon your tree
And it is such a joy to see.
But I am wondering where is STAR
No doubt she's close and not too far
You have not talked of her for a while
Each time you do it makes me smile.
Smiles . . . :)
My goodness! :)
DeleteWe should have put Star on the top of the tree! haha. She's doing alright...she seems
to have hit a plateau in her recovery. I'm giving her another few weeks and then we might
see the vet to make sure there isn't anything else I can do that I haven't thought of. :)
I wondered if she might be at the top of the tree . . . . lol
DeleteGarden girl looks as though she has had a few Tia Marias . . .
Does she look tipsy? Hmmm....
DeleteI always enjoy seeing the guys. Your yellow cat looks exactly like our yellow kitty we had over 15 years. I like all the decorations and the cats are just wonderful to see.
ReplyDeleteThe cats make it cozy. :)
DeleteThe guys are hard to photograph...they hate posing and smiling for the
camera so it's got to be the quick snaps here and there. haha.
Snack = a glass of wine?
ReplyDeleteNow that's a snack! You know how to celebrate, lobster and all!
haha...well, it IS the holidays after all..and
Deletesomeone has to finish off the bottle!
I like the idea of slippers instead of stockings. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a very pretty tree!
The slippers were fun...and we all needed new ones anyway!
DeleteMight be a new tradition in the making!
Hi Betsy, It is a beautiful tree and kitties will miss it too! I enjoyed your festive and fun pictures from Christmas. Wishing each of you a happy and healthy new year!
ReplyDeleteI think they will miss it! We instantly had several sleeping under it.
DeleteMust be cozy with the lights above them. :)
I think the slippers are a great idea,, the tree is so soft and lovely,, I really love the toned down colors, I have yearned for an all white tree for years ,, maybe next year,
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing a glimpse of your Christmas,,
our cats loved to sleep under the tree and one of our cats always climbed the tree, we had to tie the tree to the wall every year until Gibby died!
yes, do one next year! There's something very different and lovely about an all white tree! It's my new favorite!
DeleteWe've had tree climbers before....and we were surprised that we didn't have one this year!
What a beautiful Christmas...The boys look so cute, and the cats look so happy. Love the idea of filling slippers instead of socks. It always looks so plain after all the decorations come down. Don and I are taking one room at a time and after the decorations are down...deep cleaning. Today we did the bathroom. Back to blue with all new towels, and rugs. I like it. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI always get in a deep cleaning mood this time of year! But you are a little ahead of me. Our tree will stay up until New Year's Day...then we'll get busy. Your new bathroom items sound great. We need new towels, too!
DeleteThe tree sure is beautiful and it does leave an empty space when we like it. I had years when I felt the same way, on others I was glad it went :-) I love the idea of the shoe filling instead of the stocking! And oh those cuties under and around the tree. The make me smile :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been glad to take it down some years, too! Usually when it's too big and making the room crowded, or it was a real tree and the needles are dropping everywhere! haha...
DeleteThey make me smile :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy - it all looks blissful - and I agree the tree is amazing ... the family is obviously happy too - well all the four legs, and then the three boys - interesting they're interested in each other's presents and see what's what etc ... I'll join you in a glass of pink bubbly ... have a wonderful couple of days before New Year - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteWe've had some much needed fun times...and some relaxing times, too. Hope you're doing the same!
DeleteThis is all me ... I totally forgot to ask what book got such an interest of your boys? They look so concentrated! And how a out the jackets? :-) happy day to your part of the world :-)!
ReplyDeleteThat is a DVD...they are reading the back cover for the description of what's inside. Curious little guys, aren't they? haha...
DeleteIt's very sweet. I am sorry I did not recognise it. Curiosity is a sign of intelligence!! I am not really that familiar with Autism (we are dealing with plexus brachial here) but I have seen a program on it and it was really very interesting!
DeleteLove your description of the after Christmas ambience.....afterglow. I do love that glow in the family room with no other lights on. I had hardwood floors in my old house and the lights reflected off of them so beautifully. I also thought your slipper idea was brilliant.
ReplyDeleteWe're still enjoying the afterglow until New Years. After a month of prep, parties and cooking, you might as well enjoy it for a while when all the work is done!
DeleteI got that slipper idea from Pinterest.....I loved it. The boys don't like slippers and they needed snow boots, so that's what they got. We might have to do it again next year. I wear my slippers out every year, so there's a good excuse! :)
Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lois!
DeleteBetsy, You're a trendsetter...leave the tree up as long as you want. It is a beaut. Very delicate.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother was known to leave her live tree up through March. haha....can't believe
Deletethey never had a house fire! :)
I feel the same about the afterglow!
ReplyDeleteI have lights on my fireplace mantel....lights in the kitchen...a small lit tree in the dining room....lights in the foyer....and of course the tree!
It always seems so stark when it is all gone :o(
Did you get the snow and rain? Very soggy here today...
Enjoy your week...New Years plans?
Cheers!
Linda :o)
We are flooded with rain! Very windy, cold and grey. No snow yet, but the temps
Deleteare dropping in a few days, so maybe we'll get a little. I saw yours on Instagram!
I'm jealous!
Staying home on New Years like we usually do. Something special for dinner and watch
the ball drop...that's about it!
I really like the idea of the slippers for your "stockings". Seems we got a lot of the same things in our stockings too.
ReplyDeleteOur home looks so cozy with the tree lights and outside lights on. I am really going to miss that glow.
Wishing you and your wonderful family a Happy New Year.
Sue
Looks like you had a wonderful Christmas. Did you have the crablegs for your Christmas dinner?
ReplyDeleteSlippers instead of stockings?
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea.
