Oh, Those Spammers!

Say Cheese!

I hadn't cleared out my spam box on Blogger in a while
and today I happened to remember to do it!
There weren't any 'real' comments there but a few
hundred spammers were trying to get through!
Here are a few of their opening lines that made me giggle...

  1. I like what you guys are up to here!
  2. You are so cool, bud!
  3. I need to thank you for this fantastic article!
  4. I definitely digg [sic] your post!
  5. But there are so many more sex positions to have!
  6. Did you know that there is a problem with your url?
  7. This would be so much more effective if your teeth were pearly white.
  8. Wonderful goods from you, man!
  9. Greetings!  Very useful advice within this post!
  10. I don't understand.  Could you explain more in depth?
Oh dear!

    1. Yeah, but it would be worse if they actually showed up on your posts!
Blogger does a pretty good job of blocking them!

    1. I suppose if just one person clicks on their link and they can hack into something, it is worth
it to them. Still, I'm sure they leave thousands of comments before they get lucky.
Hopefully we have all become smart enough no know who they are!

drew that person, who was a spade.

    2. No, it wasn't a search engine thing
just a comment hoping spam to bring

    4. Nobody to blame but the spammers.
They want to hit you with a hammer.
Steal your password and your bank account

  10. Love your photo Betsy ~ you look younger by the day, but can you see through your hair . . . ha!
Yes your teeth look plenty white enough already . . .
Quite an amusing bunch of messages ~ they are fairly typical and agree Blogger does an excellent job blocking them. I have a look at the 'suspended' comments from time to time and delete them all. I guess I get two or three a day . . .
Much better doing that I feel than using that dreadful word verification . . . . . .

  17. Hi Betsy - spammers are painful .. so irritating one needs to spend time sorting out the morass - fortunately not too many. I ignore them and go delete for ever - till they return ... wonderful Cheesey picture - looks like a very posh good cheese to me - excellent photo!!!! Cheers Hilary

  18. Haha, I am glad you take it all in stride and can provide a laugh. Otherwise, it is so easy to get annoyed by it all. I deal with the same thing and appreciate a clever spammer but wouldn't mind if they stopped trying.

  19. To this day, and I have been "Blogging" since the beginning--honest--I have not figured out what the spammer is trying to do when they send their "thing" or post it on my blog or on any blog. I wonder what their goal is?

    1. If you click on their link you can get a virus, right? At least that's what I've always thought....and once they've
infiltrated your computer they try to get access to your passwords, etc.

  20. Ha ha spammers, what they leave behind them is usually nonsense. In my blog post today of Random Thoughts I put a link to your blog, since I got the idea from you I gave you credit. Come on over and say hi :)
