Marian Griginski Hand Painted Platter

I worked an auction yesterday!  Look what came home with me!
If you know me even a little bit, you'd know that I had to have it,
right? haha.  Marian Griginski passed away earlier this year
at the age of 93.  She lived in a neighboring town and was known
for her hand painted china and some pieces have ended up
in museums.  She taught china painting for years and it's easy
to see that she loved her work as well as being a master
at her craft.  How fun to own one of her pieces...and not
just any piece, but one she had kept for herself
and was auctioned as part of her estate.
I also got a beautiful stack of dessert plates
that belonged to her.  I'll share those soon.

    2. Pat, you've always been a smart cat
      knowing where it's all at!
But this wasn't a hard one to know
as I do love a little bird show! haha.

And Jo, Pat won't mind a bit.
The more the merrier and it will be a hit.
But be prepared to comment in rhyme
since he does it all the time! haha

  6. I love how it's delicate and solid at the same time - if that makes any sense. Such a sweet image and how wonderful you acquired it from a local artist. I will have to look her up. It was meant to be!

    1. Yes, a very fun find and perfect for my little house. I only found one item of hers on ebay that had already sold. It was a little doll tea set, each piece hand painted with animals, etc. So sweet.

  7. Perfect little platter for your turkey day celebration! I'm sure you'll find an appropriate place for it too! I love finding any kind of "original" hand-made items..... especially if the person making it lived close by and had gained notoriety while making it! Superb find indeed!! ENJOY!!

    1. Absolutely! ...and I agree..it means more than something mass produced. I have a bunch of easels for platters I've collected from the auction trash....I'll have to pull one out and find a good spot for it.

Are you going to put on a plate stand?
