We're fine. It's still raining, but we've gone about business as usual. There are some towns around us that have low lying areas and typically flood during high tide and heavy rains. They are having troubles. Schools were closed yesterday because of flooding in certain areas. This morning as I was leaving Target, I had coffee and an umbrella in one hand/arm and my bag and keys in the other and as soon as I walked outside a gust of wind nearly took my umbrella and caused me to spill coffee on myself. For a minute there I felt like Mary Poppins. I had to laugh because I juggle stuff like that all the time. I usually only drop keys, though.
Good uses of your jalapeños. I do like them in cornbread, too.
Do you remember when I chopped a bunch and didn't even have a hunch that my fingers would burn for days. That pain made me feel I was in a haze. Worse than breathing in the Raid. Gosh, I really must be insane. lol....
Talk about heat..you should stay warm this winter. We like jalapeños too..the older I get the more heat I can handle in my food. Does that mean I'm losing my taste buds??
Hi Linda...sorry the cottage trip was cut short...did you get a fire inside the first night at least? We have that same weather here...dark, cold and rainy!
No...we did not :o(....but had a fire here at home....but...not quite the same....not complaining though! So...do you have a recipe for Chipotle? Hi Eddie.....
Hmm....we don't call any dish 'Chipotle' here. Do you mean salsa? Chipotle here is a dried jalapeno pepper...it's also the name of a restaurant chain. (very yummy).
The Mister won't eat them.....he thinks chili powder is hot! haha. I can use them sparingly for things he eats, like salsa and soup, but he wouldn't just pop one into his mouth. I agree that they are perfect...yum!
Hi Betsy - they certainly should keep you toasty. I love a little spice! But I know others love lots of it ... they're good for colds and flu too I think ... cheers Hilary
Such a great colour! I like a touch of heat but not much. I had a horrible incident years ago after chopping a bunch of hot peppers and then putting in my contact lenses! Ow! I had washed my hands but that oil was still there I guess.
Oh yeah...that would hurt! It's amazing how the oil stays with you. I minced a bunch a few years ago and my fingers were on fire for several days. It was awful...I couldn't even sleep.
Whoa, that's a lot of heat! What do you use it for?
ReplyDeleteDid you grow them?
DeleteWell, I've never had a plant give me so many, so this is a first!
DeleteI'll use them in cornbread, soup, salsa, etc.
Nice to see you're alive and well. Are you drenched?

Oh my goodness! Wet with coffee while drying to stay dry from the rain! Ugh!
DeleteHot Stuff, with a capital "HOT" !!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! (yum)
DeleteWith those your tongue will never be numb
ReplyDeleteUnless you start drinking Raid again like rum lol
Do you remember when I chopped a bunch

lol....
lol remember that
DeleteBut never knew it was such a high stat
Had to be bad to be worse than Raid
Although neither are really a fair trade lol
Well, numbness doesn't give you pain!
DeleteI'll never to either again!
Smart girl I am, you know.
Learn my lesson on the first go!
haha.
Hot Stuff!!
ReplyDeleteYep! Maybe they'll cure colds and flu, too.
DeleteI'll have to try it and see if we ever need a cure...lol...

Hot stuff . . . . actually I haven't tried them . . . perhaps they would help me survive a cold winter . . . . lol
ReplyDeleteDo you have Mexican salsa there? If you do, there are jalapenos in it.
DeleteHow about Nachos? Here there are usually sliced jalapenos on top of them.
Yum! I used to think jalapeños were too hot, but now that I'm eating more spicy food they're perfect.

ReplyDeleteI've heard that they are good for colds....they certainly would make your nose run and head drain! haha.
DeleteI love jalapenos....delicious!!

So, you freeze jalapenos. My son has tons... I must tell him about this!!
