Fall Foyer Table

The leaves are just starting to change here in Ohio!
Little bits of color here and there.  In a couple of weeks
we should be immersed in reds and golds...can't wait!
I changed up my foyer table to welcome in the new season.
Everything is dark, gold and old. haha.

I also wanted to show you my new old lamp.
The base is bronze and very heavy!
The shade is made of shell, I think. (like Capiz?)
It is leaded and the details are inlaid.
Maybe my old-lamp-loving-buddy Keith
(old lamps, not old Keith ha.)
or anyone else for that matter, might
be able to tell me something about it!
I've searched on the internet but no luck!

I was clerking at auction just before my birthday a couple
of weeks ago and this lamp was sitting on a table.
I kept looking at it, thinking how unusual it was and how
much I loved it!  But I didn't have a place for it so for a
minute I dismissed the thought of bidding on it.
But I couldn't stop staring at it...so pretty!

When I thought how great it would look on my foyer
table, and that I had a cheap lamp from Walmart on that
table that could easily be upgraded, I went ahead and bid.
The cord was original and very worn, so The Mister replaced
it for me and it works great!  And since it was a little
pricey, I told him I picked out my own birthday present.
(that's how you get what you really wanted, you know!)

What a perfect birthday gift to yourself.
I love the covered dome with the sweet bird too.
    You certainly have a flair.

    1. Isn't that lamp unusual? I'd love to know more about it.
Would you believe the little bird was in the auction trash?
      Can't believe it wasn't broken.

  6. I'm still trying to come up with a "foyer" like table to decorate. In the mean time, I'm enjoying yours and the history of the lamp. I love how you kept your eye on the lamp and that it came home with you. SCORE!

it just kept looking at me with pleading eyes. :)

How are you doing over there? Does it still feel like summer?
      Any rain?

    2. No rain and days still warm but there is a crisp coolness in the air starting to happen a bit. We are pretty over summer!

  8. I love seeing your foyer change with the seasons. I have a little spot on our tv table that used to just have 2 candles on it. Your table inspired me so I changed it up in August and I'm planning to work on something for Fall. I don't have your eye and skill, but I'm working on it!

    1. That sounds like a great idea! I like having just one little spot that changes with the seasons...it's practical and
you aren't doing something all over the house. I hope you show your tv table when it gets its fall on!

    2. I'll show it when I get it done. Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. I think the mister is relieved when I say what I want...makes it easier on him and he doesn't have to worry if I'll like it. And he really lucked out on this one...didn't have to shop or even wrap it. lol....

  10. LOVE the lamp! And I also love your new header. That gargoyle has such personality and the swirling leaves are captured perfectly. Between him and the cats, no one dare trespass!

    1. I love that picture of the gargoyle! Can you see the spider web? The leaves are caught in it. Kind of creepy...but all done by nature...just too cool not to snap a picture of it! And of course, his face is just so halloween-ish. lol....

  14. Your idea of a seasonal space has always intrigued me. With moving on Monday to our new home, I am going to think about that seriously. I want to do less as part of this downsizing process, but one place with seasonal decorations really sounds fun. I would have grabbed that lamp too, birthday or not!

    1. I hope you have fun moving. I know that sounds crazy, but I really do! What an exciting time!
I used to decorate the entire house for every holiday and season. How crazy is that? I love this
little table and it being the one thing that expresses the season is easy to do and I enjoy seeing it
every day. Can't wait to see what you come up with. It's going to be beautiful!
