Oh wait, I wasn't through. I'm 'bout sick of peaches....I love 'em, but I've had my fill of them. Yes, fall and apples are coming just in time. Im ready to put the peaches behind me for now and move on to some honey crisps!
I'm about done with summer food, too....it was wonderful, but all the fallish comfort foods are sounding good..apple, cinnamon, pumpkin, stew, soup, chili....mmmmm.....
Beautiful apples, and made ever more so in that stunning bowl. We are loving pineapple right now...My last batch of apples were not as crisp as I remember last year.
Hi Betsy - lovely photo ... I love apples preferably straight off a tree .. so I'll be out to the farm shop for topping up the fruit bowl. Cheers and enjoy your Honey Crisp apples ... Hilary
Hi I just found your blog and happy to be following you. I too come from a family with a disabled child and feel blessed becasue God chose us to care for one of his special angels. Nice to meet you! Silvana
Hi Silvana....thanks so much for visiting and commenting! It's always great to meet new people and hear about their lives, too. I'll be by for a visit....
I'm sure I have tasted honeycrisp apples, but then again not sure at the very same time. With all the varieties around and the cost of honeycrisp being akin to gold, I likely haven't bought any myself. Maybe I'll buy one just to see. :0)
Love that bowl! We like the honey crisps too but pink ladies are our favorites. Looking forward to homemade apple cake and apple pies with good fresh apples. I used to like to do granny smith with a couple of Rome apples for pies but can't find Rome ones anymore. I hope some of these new varieties come down in price as they become more popular.
Pink Ladies are really good, too...and so pretty! And I do what you do...mix the kinds of apples if I'm baking...a granny smith in the combo is the best!
I just baked an apple pie today. I love apples and just thinking about Autumn apple harvest makes me smile :-) You know that I come read every day but I do not always find the time to comment ... so just catching up on your last post ... I am glad the doctor pre check up went ok with Alex and well done for winning over the fallen french frie. Will be thinking about Alex and you on the surgery day, when is it going to be? Have a wonderful weekend Betsy! Hugs, Jitka ps: you know that Tom jumped over the ocean and came to say 'hi' again? I did send him back to you, hope he did not get lost 😉
Oooh....send a slice of pie with way...along with my kitty....lol.... Alex gets those fillings on the 23rd....2 weeks away! Ugh..not looking forward to that...
I must watch out for them ~ Peter, particularly is very fond of apples . . :)
