The Star Report

Star has been with us for 2 weeks already!
She has really improved leaps and bounds!

Here she is on her first day, May 29th and then yesterday, June 12th.

She's still thin but not as bad, and
her eyes are nice and bright now.
Her whole coat was made up of tiny mats...almost like
she had little dread locks over her entire body.
We aren't finished with that but we'll keep at it.
She lets me know when I need to stop brushing
with a little meow and a swat. ha.
She tears a lot like Persian cats and some reading up
taught me that they need their faces wiped a couple of
times a day, so we've been doing that.
All the irritation has healed.

I think she's looking fabulous!

    1. I know...she's absorbed all the good things we've lavished on her and it really shows!
I'm going to keep working on her coat and when she puts on a couple of pounds, she's going to be a beauty!

    2. I wouldn't say you "do-little", you certainly "do-much" for the cats.

  4. Amazing what some love and care can do. Her nose looks perfect now. That photo of her with The Mister is so touching. I think you hit the jackpot with him Betsy. You can tell a lot about a man by how he reacts to animals. Lynne in NC

    1. He's a good guy, isn't he? And he doesn't just tolerate my little cat project, but really cares for them and looks after them, too. And some of our cats, Whiskers and Tiger, especially, prefer him and sit in his lap. He's cute with Star. When he gets home from work she's usually sitting there and he comes over and says, "Hey, Girl!" Makes me smile every time. She took a few extra days to warm up to him when she got here and today she let him pick her up for the first time.

    1. The teary eyes are really a pain!
But a clean face you certainly gain.
Not used to that at all...
Wish I could stop them at my hall!
      And with my OCD,
it doesn't make me very happy!

    2. hahaha ocd can be a pain
      When teary eyes rain
At least she is black so can hide them a bit
The white ones show them easily with their teary eyed fit

  7. The difference in just a couple of weeks is incredible !
She's looking wholesome, not only with her coat and skin condition improving, but the look in those soulful eyes says she's content and happy.
I'm glad that you have a husband who not only supports your cause, but participates also......he's a softie :)
    Beautiful Star.

    1. It really is incredible! Every day we say she looks better than the day before.
She's going to be beautiful in a few months....can't wait! She's still quite bony to pet and
a feather to pick up but certainly has come a long way!

  8. She is a happier cat and looks so much better. That hair will eventually replace itself as she is getting good nutrition now and lots of love too.

    1. I can see now why she wasn't grooming herself. She didn't feel well enough and then, a body full of mats is really almost impossible to lick away! The brush is full many times over of old hair.....it has to feel good to get all of that out of her coat!

  9. Oh what a before and after. Star is beautiful, and love the nose to nose with the Mister. I loved your comment to Anonymous about the Mister. How fulfilling it must be to see the cats as they find you, and the results, as you love and care for them. You are the best, Betsy. Hugs.

  11. She'll be running the house soon!
It looks like part of her one ear is missing. Makes her special.

(I have to comment on the picture with the Mister. When I saw it on my dashboard, I thought he had a bun in his hair. Don't tell him! I'm still kinda chuckling. The two of them are adorable!!)

    1. Someone on Facebook said the same thing about the bun! Lol...if you squint he looks like a suma wrestler. Ha!

Her ear is tipped....some vets do this to show that a cat has been neutered...one less thing we have to do for her!

      Delete
    2. Didn't know about the ear tipping, good to know!

      Delete
    3. The first group of cats I took to be neutered they did that too and I didn't like it. Whiskers, especially lost way too much of her ear! So I said no ear tipping to the rest. But in this case, it's nice to know she's already be spayed before taking her to the vet to have it done.

  17. What a beautiful Star she is, you are taking such great care of her, she looks like a beauty queen..Her eyes look great and brushing her and feeding and hydration are so important, bless you for taking her and give her a forever home..Our ginger cat sits on my lap and lets me do some embroidery as she purrs, our other elderly girl growls a little but my hubs Elli lets her sit on top of him in a donut thingie and he gives her treats and pets and talks softly to her saying she is the Queen and not to worry, Ginger even went to the coast with us and the two others too in special carriers my friend makes and sells she gave me one for Miss Ginger they purred and slept all the way down, the cabin is teeny tiny but they got out to do their thing and they wandered around smelling the ocean from a big ole window and back to their comfy dens as I call them..Miss Ginger loved it indeed..Your hubs looks like a cat whisperer he can talk to felines, Star loves him a lot and I am sure she adores you...How goes your triplets and your other son and gal too???? Take good care of yourself, have a big cup of coffee and some treats sent from me via virtual e-mail---.you so deserve pampering~ Love and best to Miss Star smooches too and hugs....X()X()X()X()
