Tuesday is normally my errand day,
but the house was so beautifully quiet with all the men
gone after a three day weekend that I decided to
stay home and savor the solitude.
I puttered around, did 6 loads of laundry,
vacuumed the entire house, did dishes, swept porches,
changed sheets, watered indoor plants and
gave Nugget a good brushing.
The windows are open and a warm breeze is
wafting through the house. The only sounds
are a few ticking clocks, the wind chime and
the church bells downtown every hour.
Lovely. We're supposed to get rain later on.
I hope we do....I hear some thunder rumbles!
♥
Sounds like a productive morning for you. Our area is pretty sick of the rain, we need a drying out spell. fondly ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteHi, Lynne! Send Ohio some rain....we'll take some! And thanks for stopping by!
DeleteSounds like a nice 'me' day.
ReplyDeleteIt was...productive but relaxed at the same time. Very nice!
DeleteOh I love those days!
ReplyDeleteMine are usually Tuesdays as well...as was today!
Boyfriend goes out to see customers, and I putz!
Few groceries...a few new tops...a beautiful fresh Basil plant!!
Bought a few annuals...worked on the back deck, sweeping the Maple keys as they fell!
Hope we get some rain here...we need it!
Enjoy the rest of your quiet day!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
That sounds perfect! I have a little basil sprouting in my herb pot outside.
DeleteIt started slow but is finally taking. The chives refuse to sprout! ha.
Sounds like you're having the same weather we are. We had dark clouds
roll by a minute ago but now it's blue and sunny!
Boys just got home...quiet is over..lol....
My chives here and at the cottage are flowering already!
DeleteWish I could give you a clump!
I'm trying to grow them by seed. Maybe I'll just pick up one already going at the garden center tomorrow. :)
DeleteI love, love, love this photo. Evocative of so many things. You were a busy bee but it's nice busying around when it's peaceful.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it pretty! I need to get out there and weed and lay fresh mulch but right now it's just charmingly overgrown. haha. I do enjoy that view from the window a lot. Peacefully busy is what I was....I'm such a hermit. lol....it was lovely.
DeleteI love the overgrown look... reminds me of England. Although I have bursts of activity socially, I am basically a hermit too and I enjoy it. Your new header is so pretty.
DeleteOh that garden scene just makes me want to have a day like yours. Thursdays are my day...Don goes to lunch each week with a friend from where we used to live in Sunland. They meet half way, so that gives me several hours in a quiet house. Last week I chose to see a movie instead of saying home. But as busy as you were.... it's different when you are alone. NICE!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the weekend with everyone here but then Monday is lovely for a totally different reason! I love your movie idea....and Don's lunch idea, too! So many fun things to do!
DeleteI can only handle so many conversations from an old preacher man that loves to discuss the Bible..HaHa...(His mind has not retired, HaHa) Marlin is the Adult Sunday School Teacher in his Church. (That's where we met him) so Don and him and talk on and on for hours on a verse or passage and that's what they do at lunch. You can take the preacher out of the church, but you can't take the church out of the preacher. Bless his heart...if I hadn't kicked and screamed for him to retire so we could be close to the kids and grandkids...He'd still be in the pulpit. Enough rambling....have a great evening!
DeleteOh, that's funny. I can see how those lunches would be good for him....and good for you! lol....
DeleteTHAT my dear is NOT puttering around the house! That's just doing the housework! Puttering is suppose to be fun stuff, and even then, done slowly without exerting any energy. Now I can come show you some puttering around here!!
ReplyDeletelol...so I need puttering lessons? OK, mister,....I'm game. haha. I needed to have coffee on the porch swing, didn't I?
Delete.. . . and you even found time to have a lovely chat to me a while . . . :)
ReplyDeletewhy, yes I did! :)
Delete. . .and thank you . . it was very nice . . . wouldn't it be wonderful if Peachy walked through that open gate . . . :)
Deleteyeah, it really would be wonderful....
DeleteOh.....fingers crossed!
DeleteEverybody pray, cross your fingers, toes and eyes!!!
DeletePull on a wishbone, find a shooting star, rub a magic lamp! Anything you can think of!
I want that poor boy back! :)
I will try all those things! But every night I do say aloud, "Peachy come home."
DeleteEnjoyed home and silence is always nice
ReplyDeleteAs the cats go and chase mice
But you sure don't sit around
Always something to be found
I might do 6 loads in a month at my sea
lol so much easier on me
Our crew really makes a lot dirt
Deletecats, people, birds and a rabbit take work!
And you know me too well
never stay still and sit a spell. ha.
You were a busy woman!
ReplyDeleteI got a lot done...a nice, unhurried busy, though....
DeleteI felt much the same, after our busy weekend. But instead of cleaning, I mozied over to Lowe's and bought more flowers. I'm on a frenzy. And just as I got home and unloaded them.....a thunderstorm rolled through. I was so happy! We haven't had rain in awhile...we needed it.
ReplyDeleteLove your fence and garden gate!
I'm mozying over to Lowe's tomorrow! I need some veggie plants for my garden! :) We finally got our rain this evening, too! So nice!
Deletethat was a very productive day!
ReplyDeletesix loads of laundry, wow,
Sounds like a lot, but that's pretty basic for this household...2 loads of darks, 1 of lights, 1 of towels, 1 of sheets, 1 of rugs. :)
DeleteIt never ends! lol....
I am finishing up my 5th load of laundry, did the floors, litters for 2 cats, fed our new gal Ginger and water too...I am so exhausted but happy it is quiet it is suppose to be in the 80's with humidity to make it feel like 90's I can't wait, I got my XL daisy dukes shorts all ready, we did nothing for the memorial day but on sunday went out for my 67th birthday, it was lovely chicken piccata for me and chicken parmesan for the hubs..Tomorrow the 27th our 41st wedding anniversary and going to dinner very late after a movie..Our only called today and wished us happy happy anniversary. We are just happy to be married and happy and alive, food, hydration, and our only is fine and working and we will see here in Seattle in June and celebrate it should be glorious up there with the extreme drought and the sun will shine and the skies blue..What can anyone ask for more, a place to live and be still, someone to love and cherish,. children near and far and happy, fresh sheets, fresh real local strawberries, hydration from the heat coming all too soon for a good long while and appreciation to live in the greatest country on this earth..nope I am one happy lad..love your blog read it almost daily..ciao and love sent your way!X()
ReplyDeleteYour comments always make me smile! I'm glad your Ginger is still coming around. I wish my Peaches would show up!
DeleteHappy birthday and anniversary coming up!
I agree....you have all you need...food, water, a roof on your head...someone to love and pets, too....and in the greatest country!
Kudos to you and I hope you took some "Me" time after this. I love to feel purposeful and I get more done when I don't have distraction. We have a lot in commons as I totally get this post.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Jane xxx
Well, I kinda counted that as my 'me' time. lol....
DeleteWhat a lovely scene. I love the open garden gate...it says "come on in and sit a spell"!
ReplyDeleteYes, come on in! :)
DeleteThat is a lot of work do get done while "savoring the solitude".
ReplyDeleteJust sayin . . . .
The garden gate picture speaks volumes.
yep....chores seem to multiply around here! Especially after a three day weekend!
DeleteThose quiet home days are the best ever. And you sure got a lot accomplished Betsy!
ReplyDeleteThey really are...my favorite kind!
DeleteYou can hear church bells where you live??? That's amazing!! Hope you enjoyed the solitude. Although it seems like you were still real busy!
ReplyDeleteYes! Little village...2 stop lights. The church in the center of town has a bell tower...so charming!
