Thursday

I worked outside today.
And I had a few furry helpers. :)

The nicest thing I got crossed off my outside To Do List
was to re-do the stepping stones in the Blue Garden.
They were laying on top of the ground and I wanted
them sunken and level with the ground, looking
as if they had been there for years and years.
So, I pulled them up, dug out some dirt and got
them as level as I could.  Then I transplanted moss
from under one of our trees in between the stones.
Much better...but boy, am I dirty. haha.
I spilled dirt down my shirt, in between my toes...
Dirt even got under my nails through my garden gloves.

I planted a few more blue and white flowers, too....
forget-me-nots, columbine, alyssum, and delphinium.
And I transplanted a fern, a hosta and cut back the
spent daffodils.  I fed the hydrangea some acid, in hopes
it will keep it's blue coloring.  Hopefully it will bloom.
I have terrible luck with that!
Garden Girl seems to approve of it all and I bet
she enjoyed the company. :)

  4. I almost thought Marmalade was Peach, but I knew you would have written me if he had returned. That Domino! He's replacing Slate as most photogenic. I laughed out loud when I spied Velvet. Leave it to cats to squeeze into every available nook and cranny. Lynne in NC

    1. Yes, you will be first to know when Peach returns. :)
Domino is quite the poser lately! Velvet....always so aloof. She's the mama to 9 ...she's allowed to be, I guess. The cats love to sleep under that shrub...they've created a few little caves in it!

  6. That was a lot of work. I found dirt that keeps going under my nails every time I venture out there. Our neighbors cat joins me why I am working and sometimes almost knocks me over as she rubs against me. I don't see any of your cats disapproving of your work. They can keep from walking in the grass and walk on the stepping stones in style now.

  7. Plenty of supervisors at your sea
As they watched you with glee
You turned yourself into a litterbox
    They must think that rocks
    On that can go anywhere
    Hmm, maybe charge a fare?
    Okay, nasty as can be
But you're the one that got so dirty haha

  8. Love Velvet in her little nest. And I always smile at Domino's expressions - he looks like he's about to speak. And that Marmie has the most beautiful eyes. You are strong to heave those flagstones around. Their new look will add to the charm of your lovely garden.

  9. Great day, you got a lot accomplished. Love all your photos, especially the sweet little white and blue flowers. What are they? I almost think the blue ones look like something I've been pulling up, thinking they were weeds. Yikes! I better leave them alone and see if they bloom. I, also, planted some moss..... under a tree, though. And, I planted the polka dot plants I bought yesterday, put out some more pine straw, planted some zinnias and made a wreath for the front door. I don't know if you feel like me or if it's even necessary where you live, but I'm in a rush to get everything planted and just right because once the temps are constantly in the 90's with unbearable humidity.....I stay indoors. I will water them, but other than that, they're on their own. Lol!

    1. Oh yes...I hate heat! I don't go out when it's hot. I get cranky when I'm hot and sweaty...hate it! lol.... Summer is my least favorite season but I do love spring!

The little white flowers are alyssum and the little blue ones are forget-me-nots. I just bought something online to use on my front door in place of a wreath....a fun little project to make when it gets here!

    2. Alyssum and forget-me-nots....beautiful. I'll have to look for some. Oh, you have peaked my curiosity! Can't wait to see what's going to be hanging on your front door. My sister's told me I needed to hang my wreath higher and a little to the left. Lol!!!! They both have eagle eyes! So I'll fix it first before showing it.

  10. Your outside looks so nice. I miss my stepping stones... I gave mine to Julie for her yard when we moved. Oh my, for just a moment, I thought that could be Peaches.....still hoping.

    1. ok...I got your comment all cleaned up! ha. :) I've noticed the publish button is very sensitive lately. You have to push once and walk away. If you even breathe near it, it will make a duplicate. haha....

I'm pretty sure you can buy moss at the garden center, but if you have any well established shady/moist spots, it's probably already in your yard....
