St. Patrick's Day Gardening

Can you still pinch me if I have a green thumb? ha.
I had some bulbs I didn't get into the ground last fall
so I thought I'd better do it now or never!
Temps were in the mid 60's today, cloudy and
breezy, so it seemed like a good day to get out there!

The ground was nice and soft with all that snow melting last week.

I had a nice variety of blue and white seeds and bulbs
to put in my blue themed flower garden.

And I found a few little sprouts on the plants I put in last year.

I have to mark things because The Mister has been known
to pull up all my flowers, during an over-zealous weeding frenzy. ha.

And I was glad the bulbs had started to
sprout so I'd know which end to point up!

    1. I'm First! The maple is rather special, I grew it from a seed I picked up at Kew Gardens in 1986.

    2. I love Japanese Maples! We had one in my yard when I was young. They are beautiful!
I can't believe you have leaves sprouting! Have your daffodils already bloomed?

      You're first! :)

    3. This maple is a red leafed one, and it is a large bonsai now, in a patio pot. I can transport it from house to house when I move. The crocuses are flowering, but the daffs are only just peeping out to see if it's safe to carry on growing.!

    4. Ours was just the regular tree in the ground...I've never seen a bonsai one! I bet it's lovely. I think we need to see it! :)

I have bare spots.....and huge drifts of snow in other spots!
    Not fair!
It will look spectacular....but....I think bulbs need the cold...did you have them in the fridge?
    Enjoy your evening....
    Cheers!

    1. We had rain for several days and over the weekend the last of the snow piles melted away.
I had the bulbs in the garage all winter...as cold as the fridge!

    1. Yes, fairly easy....it likes to be watered, I found out. ha. It doesn't like to be thirsty.

  8. You went right to town
We still can't see the ground with all the snow down
    Piled upon high
As more of it did fly
Can your green thumb scare it away?
Or at least chase it to your bay

    1. We'll probably get more snow
as it usually in March does show.
      Which is ok with me.

  10. We are enjoying milder temps too....80 degrees here today, but we know there's still more cold weather on the way in a few days.
I love having bulbs in the garden, or perennials, if only I could get the squirrels to stop digging them up !
We have daffodils, and herbs already sprouting, isn't it grand !

  11. Wow - that's early! They'll be okay if it snows again? Love the idea of a blue-themed garden - pretty. I spot some blue wellies. Do you have them in every colour? ;-)

    1. The iris and daffodils are already breaking through the ground, so I don't think it's too early....I'm just following along with what nature is doing. Bulbs always bloom here and then we get more snow. Many times I've cut bouquets to bring inside when the weather calls for ice or snow. The wellies are grey...I only have red and grey. :)
