Hamdogs

The other week when Taylor and Lauren were over for dinner
we were laughing at this commercial.

I mentioned that the next time they came to eat, we should
try making some hamburgers shaped like hot dogs
just for the fun of it.  We decided to call them hamdogs.

So I grilled up some regular dogs and some hamdogs, too!

Taylor had one of each.
My, he does prefer his dogs rather plain, doesn't he?
Where all all the toppings? ha.
But the ketchup and mustard is squirted on
in a artsy curly kind of way. lol....

I preferred to eat a good old fashioned chili cheese dog.  Yum.

So, while it was a fun thing to try,
the idea is kind of weird.  Taylor said it was a conflict
between mind and mouth, thinking that it should
taste like a hot dog but tasting a hamburger.

I think next time we'll just have the regular dogs. ha.

  3. How fun . . . . haha!
    How about a 'hotham' . . . . lol
Whatever the shape in my book it sure comes under the general description, "Yum".
Do you have English Mustard over there ~ so hot it blows your head off!
Like your choice of food too!
    i wonder what Lauren and The Mister chose . . . . .
    Very funny commercial . . . . . lol

    2. My guess is you might like English Mustard.
      Yes a hotburg would go down a treat right now . . . lol . . . or even a dogburger . . . .

    3. Dogburger sounds like it's made of dog meat! ha.

    4. If I made it, it probably would be . . . . . somehow I don't think the marketing men would like that name . . . . . it would generate zero sales . . . haha

  4. Such a simple experiment! Why did it take the commercial and your post to imagine the possibility? :) It's worth a try in my house, too.

I have some red rainboots that look like yours in the header... at least the toes do. Mine came from Target a few years ago.

    1. I wouldn't recommend it...haha...unless you're about to make burgers and realize you only have dog buns. lol...

  5. Everything you make looks so wonderful. I have put one picture of food on my blog in 6 years. Burnt to a crisp brownies. I'm almost inspired to make a hamdog myself!

  6. Hamdog...HaHa....I like your plate the best Betsy. How fun to try it. It would be rather interesting brain game... "What am I eating....?????"

    1. I liked mine best, too! haha. And those hamdogs were kind of hard to form! I guess ground beef just knows it's supposed to be in a round patty and not a link. lol...

  7. Haha, now that is some outside the box thinking! Though I think, like you, I would have preferred the chili dog.

    1. Yeah, it was a fun thing to do, but taste wise, wasn't really a winner. If I'm going to have a burger, I want the tomato, lettuce, cheese and all the other yummy toppings! I see you've posted...will come visit tonight...

  9. Sounds like an interesting mix and match
And quite the blend and batch
The taste sounds off putting though
But as long as it was fun to give a go

    1. First you'd have to think a hamburger was a treat.
I doubt you'd ever think to eat a hotdog was neat.
I recommend the chili dog with lots of sauce and cheese.
I know, I know..that makes you want to sneeze. lol....

  11. Interesting, but I probably would also have a hot dog mindset while I was eating the hamdog- so it wouldn't taste right. Your chili dog looks delish.

  13. the 7-11 by our house had cheeseburger dogs for a little while...
they looked kinda gross....ha...i dont think they caught on
cause they are no longer on the little roller thing...

made from home, i would probably try one
    though i imagine feeling similar....

  16. Kinda fun but I don't think my brain would be able to adapt either. Never had a chili cheese dog - boy, does it look GOOD!

    1. Funny how our brains overrule our tastebuds. I imagine it would be the same with what other countries call delicacies....bugs, for instance. I wouldn't be able to objectively go on taste because my brain would be screaming, BUGS! Lol

  18. Lol! See how ideas start?? I think I would prefer the regular hot dog too...with ONLY ketchup. I'm with him on the plain dog side. Hehe
