I've mentioned several times on this blog that
The Mister loves chocolate. But not just any cheap chocolate.
No Hershey's Kisses, M&M's...oh, no!
He's a chocolate snob. Dark chocolate only and it must
be a good quality chocolate at that!
I bought him several nice bars of chocolate for his
Christmas stocking and he's slowly getting to the end of his stash.
He pulled this one out of the pantry this week and had a square.
"This Chili Chocolate is really hot! Cough-cough!"
"Sounds delicious. Is it too hot for you?"
"Uh, yeah...taste this!"
"Mmmm...It does have a kick but the heat is really good
paired with the chocolate. I like it!"
"Well, you can have the rest. I don't want it."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Chocolate is supposed to be relaxing."
♥
I bought some chili chocolate bites from a local candy shop. I thought my formerly New Mexican husband would love it, but he didn't. He snubbed that chili chocolate just like yours did. I thought it was... interesting. I even kind of liked it. And, I thought it would be fun to put out at a party. For unsuspecting guest, you know?

It was interesting...more complicated than plain chocolate. One or two squares was plenty, so in that way, it's good because you don't gobble down a whole bar! haha. I wouldn't want it all the time. Love the idea for the guests......or an April Fool's joke...now that would be funny!
DeleteA lady in the village makes chilli chocolate and sells it at fetes and craft fairs. It is in four strengths, "mild", "medium", "strong" and "YE GODS!". I have never gone above the medium one, and that is too strong for me! I can understand The Mister when he says chocolate should be relaxing. When I see her stall again I'll get some "YE GODS!" and send it to you. . . . .
ReplyDeleteBut make sure the boys don't get to the mail man first!
Deletehaha...it might melt the envelope before it gets here!
DeleteNo chance, it's only mildly radio-active!
DeleteI'll be sure to wear gloves when I open it!
DeleteOne way to cure Cholholicism . . . . I would have eaten it though . . . . lol
ReplyDeleteI can't even pronounce that!
DeleteIt's a made up word ~ hey I am stuck on a crossword clue asking for the word which means a made up word. Any ideas what it is?
Deleteinvented?
DeleteIt means that but not the word, sort of meaning word architecture . . . . . . on the tip of my tongue . . . . . a few squares of chilli choc might force it out .. . . . . , lol
DeleteIt's practically impossible to guess without knowing how many letters are in the word and seeing the crossword with all the connecting words filled in. Hope you think of it!
DeleteI expect I will eventually ~ me and my crosswords . . . . I am an addict . . . lol
DeleteNo letters yet and it is a different type of crossword because at this stage I don't know how many letters ~ it is a real teaser . . . :)
Oh my eyes are burning just thinking about Chili Chocolate. The packaging is sure elegant.
ReplyDeletehaha...oh, it wouldn't have burnt your eyes. It was actually very mild. But he doesn't really like spicy food, so to him it was just too much! lol... It worked out well, though,... I enjoyed it very much!
DeleteThat my problem tool... I just don't like spicy food, and it doesn't like me. I would never turn down a strawberry dipped in chocolate.
DeleteYou, Lauren and The Mister would get along very well! It's Taylor and I that love spicy food...the hotter the better! Pass the hot sauce! haha.
Deleteit is really good paired with chocolate...
ReplyDeletea blog friend sent me some cheyenne and chocolate truffles
oh my...it was good..i like it hot too...
Those truffles sound really good! I bet I'd like them, too!
DeleteI quite like that chocolate. It tastes normal but then the heat catches up with you in a few second. I must get some more. ;)
ReplyDeleteExactly...it's a little surprise after you swallow. haha. Yum!
DeleteWhen we lived in Germany, we were less than an hour from the Lindt factory and outlet store in Aachen. The Mister would have been in heaven. Lots of choices and many I've never seen anywhere else. Sometimes when they had too much stock, they would even give freebies with your purchase. Once I got more free than I was paying for!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! He would have found any excuse to drive there often! haha. What a fun place with the extra choices and freebies! I bet it was fun to browse through all the choices, too! I think there is only 5-6 choices at my grocery!
DeleteVery interesting! My son-in-law to be loves anything hot. I'm thinking I need to find this stuff!
ReplyDeleteI bet he would love it!
DeleteI can't even imagine! I'm with him..chocolate is supposed to soothe the soul, not set it on fire! LOL!
ReplyDeletelol!!!
Deletehahaha well he has a point
ReplyDeleteShould relax at ones joint
Not go all hot sauce wannabe
And cause a coughing spree
Ah, you know him well!
DeleteCoughing he does as his throat does swell!
ha.
I am a huge lover of dark chocolate, although I will eat Lindt milk chocolate as it is so delicious. My favourite Lindt flavours are dark caramel sea salt, orange intense, intense cranberry, and intense blackcurrant. I do enjoy the chili but you're right - just a few squares is enough. Hmmmm... maybe I should buy more of that one! Hee hee. The Mister would love SOMA here in the Distillery District. Everything handmade and the majority of it dark. Check out the photos of the truffles - stunning.

Wow...stunning stuff! Love their photography, too. Those truffles look amazing! I've bought him the caramel sea salt and orange before but the cranberry and blackcurrant I have not seen here!
DeleteYes, I'm thinking the chili one would be perfect to buy while dieting...you still get a little something sweet..and you don't want to over indulge! lol....
Exactly - that's the one I better stock up on! The other thing that SOMA has is this wonderful Mayan hot chocolate. It is very intense and spicy and the Mister would not like it, but OMG it is so good. They serve it either as a "shot" - very strong and intense - or they dilute it a bit with milk and then it has less of a bite. I always drink it "straight" and when you have a cold, it zaps it out of your body! They also sell the powder so that you can make it yourself at home. Yum.
ReplyDeleteYum! I think I would love that! The shot or with milk! Sounds wonderful!
DeleteScore!
ReplyDeletehaha...I know..even better when you give a gift and they give it back! lol...
DeleteLol!!!! I think your husband just came up with the new logo for tshirts, canvas prints, and cute coffee mugs. "Chocolate is supposed to be relaxing". I love and I will start spreading the word immediately!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so true! He could start his own brand of chocolate! I can see the cute labels now! All of us stress eaters would buy them up! Lol!
DeleteLol I think he should trademark that stat!!!
DeleteChocolate is supposed to be relaxing! I love that!! Well, it's almost time to renew his stash with Valentine's Day just ahead. hee hee. blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteThat is true! Should I put another chili chocolate bar in his gift? Lol....
DeleteHaha, I love The Mister's reaction. I've never had chili chocolate... my reaction may be like The Mister's unless I was in the mood for something more adventurous. Worked out nicely for you, though. :)
ReplyDeleteDo you have wimpy tastebuds, too? Lol....
DeleteI have a chili recipe that calls for cocoa powder. This would be great in it I bet.
ReplyDeleteI have put a little cocoa in my chili before!
DeleteMm, I think I'd like that one.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very nice change! Tell me what you think if you try it!
DeleteI love chilli chocolate, it's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSee! I knew you would approve!
DeleteOh yes!
