Well, here it is, December already!
The Christmas spirit hasn't hit me yet but we have a
business Christmas party happening here in 2 weeks,
so I need to get the place looking festive whether I
feel festive or not! ha. The first thing I pulled out
today was this 1940's Santa wall pocket I found in the
auction trash earlier this year. I hung him in the kitchen
nook above my desk. Surely he will send me some
spirit when I look at those twinkling eyes!
I did get the tree up!
No decorations on it yet and I'm tempted to leave it
with only white lights all over it. Simple and elegant.
I did get my glue gun out and give this little gold tree
a new look with some vintage ornaments .
I think she likes her new bling!
It's like a shiny petticoat!
These two girls were just happy the feeder was full!
The pecan pie is now just a pleasant memory.
I enjoyed it for breakfast, lunch and midnight snack.
This week is my busiest of the year with my annual large gift
basket order! If I'm not around for a daily post you'll know why!
But blogging is the fun part of the day, so I'll try
to at least pop in with a photo or two
and visit you with a quick hello.
We have only enough turkey left for some soup tomorrow.
And I enjoyed a little online shopping.
Have you eaten all the turkey?
Have you shopped til you dropped?
♥
Finally slowing down enough to catch up with my blogging friends. No post from me today. Been busy with church stuff, and we TOO got our tree put up.... no decorations on it yet either. Just finished dinner, and I feel like settling down for a long winter's nap. Have fun this week, and don't work TOO hard. And I sure hope you find that Christmas spirit!
ReplyDeleteLook who is first tonight!
DeleteHopefully the Christmas spirit will arrive...I can only think of one year when it never came.
Well, there's one thing for sure...this week and next will fly by as I'm a busy bee. haha.
Being first really DID surprise me, especially as popular as you are. LOL.... yes, I certainly hope that Christmas spirit shows up. Shame on you if you get so busy you neglect it.... But then... I'M not going to let you just be an old "humbug"... so there! Have fun this week.
Deletehaha...Oh, I'd never be a humbug even if the Christmas spirit never hit me. It will get here...maybe after the tryptophan
Deletewears off. haha. If not, I'll put on some Christmas carols and sip a hot toddy. That should do it.
Don't make me put on my Santa suit and come visit you!!
DeleteOh gosh...that made me laugh. You'll have to take the suit in this year! :)
DeleteHi Betsy - Just the fact you got your tree up sounds good to me this year. I'll be surprised if I even put one up but if I know myself well enough I will somehow find time and a place. Love the little gold tree ornaments. That looks really sweet. I was looking at your header, which I love, and it reminded me of a photo my mom took a hundred years ago of me and my two friends heading to a party with presents. I'll dig it up and show you. I'm sure you will be soon covered in Christmas glitter and enjoying the season. Santa won't let you down. Deb
ReplyDeleteWould love to see your picture ...sounds so cute! Yes, I think you are right about Santa...I can't look at him without smiling...haha.
DeletePecan Pie. That is one thing I have never tasted. You don't see it on restaurant or cafe menus. In fact I have never seen pecans on sale at any of our supermarkets. I just put up a new post.
ReplyDeletePecans must be an American thing! I didn't realize that. It's my favorite pie. If you were here, I'd make you one! :)
DeleteYour vintage items always make me smile. What a sweet Santa..and I'm a 40's gal. I just love, love, love what you do with your pecan pie. I must make another one and decorate it like that. Yummy. We split the last piece of pumpkin pie this afternoon. After church searching since we moved, I think we have found a new Church home. Such a lovely beginning to the Christmas Season...love the music.
ReplyDeleteOlder is just better! haha...I find myself saying that as I age. lol.... I didn't make a pumpkin pie this year and I kind of missed it!
DeleteI hadn't thought of you trying to find a new church...glad you found one you like...I think music is the best part about church during this season!
Funny how fast Christmas has come round . . . yet again.
ReplyDeleteCan't quite get myself in the Christmas mood yet . . . but it will come soon.
That Santa you have looks as though he will generate some Christmas activity . . . :)
Like Keith I do not know what a Pecan Pie is but it looks delish !! :)
You need to grow a pecan tree and Keith needs to grow wheat to grind his own flour. Then together you two could bake a pecan pie. :)
DeleteHmmm, the Keith and Eddie Cooking Show. I'd watch!
DeleteOr should that be Eddie and Keith...
I'd watch, too! Most entertaining! Let's call it Smith & Rigg. lol...it has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
Deletelol . . . . . my culinary miracles will take a little longer than the Pecan tree will take to grow . . . . lol
DeleteKeith ~ I see we have our first viewers to our new show . . . I wonder who will be the next . . . .
I think we might have to put on our entertainment hats . . . . :)
Pecan trees are native to the American south, warm, humid climates, I don't think English weather would be qualify as ideal conditions.
DeleteSad though, because it is one of the tastiest nuts, and virtually used in any recipe.
Jo
Ooh, and I love the hanging Santa, so traditional looking, a nice fat, jolly face !
DeleteIs it ok to say that nowadays ?
~Jo
Yes he does have a fat jolly face...I say it! ha.
DeleteYes, pecans go in everything from savory to sweet! They are a staple in my kitchen!
I love that Santa - I remember when he was getting a bath in the sink! Such a darling look to him.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the only glitter on the tree being the lights - sophisticated and understated.
Your pie looks amazing with that lovely crust ornamentation. How pretty.
I finally indulged and had one cranberry pecan cookie last night and one lemon poppyseed today. SO GOOD!
That's right...he got a bath when he came home. One of my favorite things to find in the trash! Maybe I'll get a special present under the tree for saving him. lol....Hear that, Santa? :)
DeleteNot in the spirit yet
ReplyDeleteGeez maybe after you get all set
As the huge orders are a toll
Then out and about merrily you can stroll
I help decorate at my work sea
That is all that was done by me
Shopping is almost all done
Orlin and cassie just need one more dirty one lol
Dirty gifts they are good at!
DeleteI have one I'd like to return to those cats!
lol....
lol they get really dirty with family though
DeleteThey can take it, and dish it back, at our show lol
Oh, I'll never forget the zebra thong
DeleteI'm sure the list is really long.
ha.
Just had the last of the turkey...I'm stuffed! We don't do too much shopping, but tomorrow I plan on starting the decorating. A simple white tree sounds good to me too!
ReplyDeleteYep...I've decided...it doesn't need ornaments. I like it just like it is! Simple is very appealing to me right now. :)
DeleteOh I love the Santa wall pocket. I have never seen a Santa one before ever! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI had never seen one, either! I think he needs some pine branches in his pocket!
DeleteThe pie looks so good. I adore the Santa wall pocket. Best wishes getting your home ready for Christmas. Take your time and don't overdo. You don't want to be under the weather for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteA little every day, is my plan. yes...not getting sick would be at the top of the goal list! ha. My boys have been passing around a stomach bug this weekend. Ick.
DeleteI can't believe the neat things you find in auction trash! :)
ReplyDeleteThat pie is beautiful!
My Christmas stuff is up, and I've shopped till I dropped. I'm almost done!
I know! Me either. It's incredible and amazing..really! Crazy.
DeleteHow nice to be almost done. I like being done early...then you can relax and enjoy the month!
Love the santa! Your pecan pie looks DELICIOUS! :) Still have turkey here, but most of it is going in the freezer tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWe only started out with 7 lbs, so it was just enough for the big meal and the weekend of leftovers. The scraps are going into soup tomorrow! But having some in the freezer will be so nice for you! Yum!
DeleteSorry, in my world today (Sunday) is still November :-)
ReplyDeleteI did the end-of-the-month grocery shopping and errands. Starting next Saturday we have three Christmas parties within ten days, so holiday things will come soon.
Our calendar is looking like that, too!
DeleteLovely pecan pie Betsy!
ReplyDeletethank you....so fun to make!
DeleteEep!! I have been in the Christmas spirit since before Thanksgiving. I hope that Santa helps you find it. :)
ReplyDeleteDo you use a real tree or a fake tree?
I know you have been! haha.
DeleteIt's fake....sad to say. We had live ones for year....love them!
I know good pie and that pie looks really top rate. My wife made me a mince meat pie for Thanksgivin.
ReplyDeletePecan pie..how wonderful, I've got a hankerin' for it now. I like the idea of lights only on the tree. I set up two trees, one on main floor, the other downstairs and the one downstairs gets only lights. It's pretty like that.
