Kitchen Reno Day Seventeen

We've been waiting on counter tops to come and they finally
did yesterday!  Then we started in on hanging lights and Kris
our contractor put in the sink and faucet.  He's also done kind
of boring little things I didn't photograph, like some wiring, a
kick plate around the bottom of the cupboards, and moving
a furnace duct under the house.  So, I'm totaling up all those
little jobs and calling this Day 17.

We really feel like we're on the home stretch!
Next week we will get the back splash, ceiling fan in the family room,
and black wood end pieces on the cupboards and around the island!

Installing those quartz counter tops put a new layer of dust
on things. You just have to laugh by now. :)

So you did see the cat? There's always one nearby. ha.

    1. I think it might be bigger than your cute little carriage house! haha. Our kitchen feels twice as big as it did before but we didn't move any walls! Must have been poor choices originally that made it feel so small!

      Always a kitty nearby,you know. :)

My oldest son made me a coffee table that is something like this in his woodshop class last year in school and they all enjoy working with wood and building things, so maybe. :) Second son made a computer/scrapbooking desk last year too. Goodness, I was surprised!! and impressed I might add!

    5. Oh, that's nice...do you have any pieces he made?

Our contractor built his own home...a log home...every inch of it...including the kitchen cabinets. It's beautiful!

    6. We do have several beds, one of them came with a set. Plus a few other single pieces.

Wow! I'm sure that log home is gorgeous! Sounds like you hired the right man for the reno!

    7. He's done other work for us, too and does really nice work. I'm friends with his wife, too. ...they go to our church.

I bet those beds are beautiful...such nice things to have that he made! We don't have any wood workers in our family! Now I'm wishing we did!

You will have to keep pinching yourself to believe it's for real. I love everything and esp the lights above the table and your 'computer station' by the windows! And I bet cooking is a lot of fun now too.

  35. Honestly, there is not one thing that I can say that I like the best. It is all so unique and so beautiful. With the lighting, ( I love the phrase that lighting is the jewelry to a room) I bet that your collection pieces in the lighted cabinetry along the one wall brings so much warmth into the room. I am all about ambience and I am betting that you nailed it with that wall. It is all so lovely, Betsy. Thanks for sharing.
