Be Good To Yourself

Marmy, is that you?

I saved this picture years ago and it always makes me laugh.
It looks just like Marmalade!

Whoever it is, I think they have a good idea.
I feel stressed and I think I need some TLC.
No time to run off to a spa somewhere far away, but
I can have one here at home....and now that the
reno is done (final pictures coming soon) I can
even sit on the new counter and soak my feet in the
new kitchen sink!  haha.

So, I'm thinking a pedi and mani, a hot bubble bath,
fresh color in my hair.  A facial.
Maybe if I do one thing a day I can stretch it out over a week.
A spa week..I'll just pretend I'm in the Swiss Alps at a private spa.
Maybe if it snows here, the pretending will be easier! ha.

Now I'm waiting for Georgina to comment how she lives
in the Swiss Alps.  Yes, I know, Georgina, you lucky girl!
Sigh!  Some people are so lucky!

  1. I sometimes sit with my feet in a bowl of icy water and imagine I'm sitting on the beach at Blackpool. It always depresses me. I don't know why I do it !

    5. Blackpool is the main seaside resort in Lancashire (North of England) ~ quite near where I was born (Liverpool) and the Maldives are a series of lush islands set near the equator in the Indian Ocean ~ a very romantic spot for couples ~ sounds right up our street . . . .lol

  6. Oh this is just too much! I can hardly stand it! Can you imagine the mind that came up with this! I treated myself to the softest ivory robe at Pottery Barn today. So pretty I almost hate to use it. Life is short, though, especially when you're my age, so I will wear it after I let it season for a little while. Lynne in NC

    1. This week....a little each day..that's the plan. We should do something each day for ourselves anyway, don't you think? I'm way behind in cashing that thought in. ha.

    2. Yes indeedy....even a small thing like a steaming cup of apple cinnamon tea♥️

    3. ..or coffee! I haven't gotten out of bed yet today! ha. It's 11am and I sent all the men off to church without me. I'm taking in Pinterest, sipping hazelnut creamed coffee and am snug under the quilts in my nightie. And Marmalade really does know how to relax...he's right here on my feet. ha. Now if only someone would bring me breakfast. Sigh! I could use a piece of your lemon blueberry breakfast cake right about now!

  11. Pamper yourself every chance you get. And totally immerse yourself when you do. I'll just think about that for a little while.

  12. Your new kitchen sounds like the perfect spot for a pedi and mani. I need one real bad...was noticing that today. Maybe it's time for another of your pedi parties.

  13. Smiling at Marmy's twin. Yes - a little pampering each day is in order. Every day. It can be the smallest of things, but it's important. I give great massages - almost went into it as a career. When I was performing, many conductors and singers would ask for me once they knew. I really enjoyed it.

  15. Hi Betsy - I think you definitely deserve some pampering ... looks like your critters will have to curl up with you, keep you warm and gently appreciate you ... you have had a lot going on ... a Marmalade Spa week - might be very nice ... but I suspect in your dreams .. perhaps the weekly idea is a good one ... happy week - cheers Hilary

  19. I'd have thought you'd need a Spa Week as soon as you got the new kitchen in---I cannot imagine having so much going on at once. Your cool kitty is the one I'd have if we ever get another cat---Her name would be CORNBREAD. Isn't it funny how yellow cats inspire food names so often?

And a pearl-headed pin, for corsage, or hat or lapel---don't they bespeak a special moment? The pinning of a flower, a charming chapeau, a little beady bauble for a Winter coat.

And the Waldorf has been promptly added to the menu for when some of the Grands visit after Christmas. Haven't made that in quite a while, and it's lovely.

Hope you're staying well and warm over there in the Alps---do you ski?

    1. Cornbread...oh, that is SO cute for a cat name. I am laughing! Perfect.

Waldorf would be perfect for thanksgiving...you need something fresh and crunchy with all that heavy stuff!

  20. Silly Betsy! I live in North London!!! But I am very lucky to spend lots of time in Switzerland.
I wish I'd seen your post before but we had no internet this whole weekend. Pampering sounds good, and pampering with snowy mountains in the background sounds extra good. Nothing like cooling your glass of wine in the snow, or in a glacier melt stream.....
Tell you what though, I'll post a bunch of Swiss photos and send you the link so you and all your lovely friends can get jealous.

  24. I've been really stressed out lately too! Lots of big projects are coming up due before the Thanksgiving holiday, then we only have 2 weeks before finals after that. I think I l could use a spa day too! A friend gave me some polished yesterday, so I should give myself a pedi and paint my nails.
