Bottoms Up!

Little chickadee is enjoying my new feeder!
It's the first bird feeder I've found that seems to have outsmarted
the raccoon who loves to climb into my trees, dump all the seed on
the ground and scarf it down every night!  The top screws on,
which I've done tightly, and the seed comes out very slowly in
the tray.  I threaded it far along a branch so he couldn't
even pull the thing down to the ground.  So far, so good
and it's almost been a week!

I'm linking up with I'd Rather Be Birdin'.

  1. I've just got one word for it - Brilliant!! - a raccoon resistant feeder.

In fact several more words . . . love the action shots of the chickadee (what a fantastic name for a bird) . . . :)
    Am I first I wonder?

    1. Why look! You really are first! Chickadees are just adorable in their little French berets. And they voices are funny and buzzy sounding!

    2. I could watch the little guys for hours ~ meanwhile Mr Raccoon may be learning how to unscrew the jar top . :o)

    3. Those raccoons are amazing! Their little hands are human like! Ha. But I'm hoping this is screwed on too tightly for him to get into. He'll just have to go back to trash picking. Lol...

    1. You'll have to get a fushia or some other kind of flower that the hummingbirds love!

    1. I thought it was pretty, too! I hope it outlasts the raccoon...I suppose he could throw it down and break the glass if he figured out how to get the thing off the branch.

    1. I've only seen one squirrel here this summer. I think they try to stay away from the cats. The raccoon just doesn't care...he's bigger. Ha.

  9. Not only is it raccoon resistant, but it's pretty and kind of vintage looking, Lovely. I wonder Mr. Raccoon is off somewhere plotting and planning! Beautiful pics of the chickadee - love seeing him in flight. Berets! That is a perfect description.

Happy Birthday Eve! Hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow! xox

    1. I think it looks old, too. In fact, the green glass is what got my attention at first...kind of like an old canning jar. Yes, I'm sure he's off plotting. Ha. They are cute but pesky! Better than a skunk, though! I haven't seen the skunk lately but I sure have smelled him! Ha.

    1. Thanks, Hilary! :)

Yes those raccoons certainly are masters and ours seem quite tame! They aren't scared of humans and just look at you if you try to run them off.

    1. I didn't realize they weren't in Texas! We have them all winter long....even through frigid temps and snow. Maybe they prefer the northern states where it is cooler.

  12. Cute little chickadee! That word makes me think of Mae West. She called WC Fields that in the movie My Little Chickadee.
Love the bird feeder! Where did you find it?
Have a very Blessed Birthday, Dear Betsy ♥

    1. I got it at Walmart! Can you believe it? ha. Very reasonable, too. I think I might have to buy another. Between trying to keep the feeders high off the ground because of the cats and out of the flower beds because of the dropped seeds sprouting, I'm having a hard time keeping one in a good location for photography! Geesh! haha...I want to have two locations for the best options!

  15. oh, so cute! i think i'd rather deal with a pack of squirrels at the feeders than one raccoon. squirrels eat ravenously but raccoons destroy!

  16. Ahh it takes a smart woman to outsmart a wily raccoon. I hope it continues to baffle him.
