  5. I love that first picture, he looks so cheeky peeping through the leaves. We never see birds as exotic as that here. The nearest we get are just a few exotic pigeons and crows, and Scruff chases them off in double quick time.

    1. No red colored birds for you over there? The Cardinal is our state bird...lots of them here! But we wouldn't think of it as exotic.
I'll trade you a few cardinals for some English Robins! Deal?

    2. Hands off our Robins ! We need all of them for Christmas Cards.

    3. hahaha....Isn't that funny...we use Cardinals on ours!

    4. Would be nice if Cardinals could be introduced over here
and your Robins, Betsy, are much bigger than ours - they'd have ours for breakfast!

  7. I love the fact that the daddy cardinals help feed their young. Years ago my family's home backed up onto woods, and we would sometimes see a large number of pairs cavorting in the trees. I love seeing a pair come to my neighbor's feeder year-long, often at twilight. Lynne in NC

    4. I thought you might be hopping mad!! . . . . . hahaha
      . . . and thought you might 'tow' the line! . . . .

      Delete
    5. Now why would I be mad? And it's you who had better toe the line. And yes, it is still 'toe' in this instance, too!

    6. I thought you might be hopping mad!! . . . . . hahaha
      . . . and thought you might 'tow' the line! . . . .

    7. scrub that last one . . . . still having comment problems.
Meant to say . . . looked it up and you are quite right , it is "Toe the Line!"

      Delete
    8. You had to look that up? Silly man...I guess you didn't get what the expression meant! You mum never said that to you?

    9. I'm beginning to wonder what sort of people I'm mixed up with here, and I thought I was the one that should be in 'The Home for the Bewildered' (in the next room to Eddie ?)

      Delete
    10. hahaha! In answer to you . . . dear, dear Betsy . . . lol. . . . of course I knew what it meant . . . lol . . . by looking it up I was just trying to see exactly how the word 'toe' was used in its original context . . . and the best I can see is that they used to put their toe on the mark to get ready for something . . . Apparently it is quite common for people to erroneously spell it "Tow the line!" . . . now after all that I am going to get back to my padded cell next to Keith . . . . ROFL. Referring to my other goof about your lovely toe nails - it was just a funny typo (yet another) . . . w is next to e on the keyboard . . . LOL Good morning Keith!
