Some Random Acts of Kindness Inspiration

I saw this on the news today and thought it was the sweetest
thing!  This little boy with autism LOVES garbage trucks and
waits every Monday for the truck to come.  Inside, he lines
his stuffed animals in the window so they can watch, too!
He watches and waives to the garbage man each time.
His mom records the visits on her phone so he can
watch them again during the week!
Then one day, he gets a surprise!

Don't you love it?
The garbage man does the RAK!!
So sweet.
I'm inspired!

What will you do this week?
Come back Friday and share!

  4. I love stories like this. What a great guy. He could have just kept waving back or even ignoring the little boy, but he chose instead to totally bless him instead.

    1. I know. Waiving and being friendly every week was special in and of itself. He made it over-the-top special for that little guy with just a little effort. So neat! :)

    2. Ben used to leave letters in our mailbox for the letter carrier and she wrote even wrote back to him a few times before her supervisor told her she couldn't do it anymore. He made her day and she made his. Been a long time now. She's still the regular carrier and I'm always grateful that she took the time to answer a little boy's letters.

    3. Really? Oh, that is just so cute. How sweet of her to take the time to do that.

  5. Oh I love this. What an inspiration. He could have just waved back every time....but NO, he took it to a level of tangible act of love and kindness. What a great way to start our Friday RAK. Don was telling me about it. So glad you posted it for me to see.

  8. If that isn't the sweetest story! Made me teary reading it. Plus... I have never seen a garbage truck like that! Our guys heave the bags into the back of the open truck and then eventually the contents are rotated and munched up. Never seen one with a side hatch!

    1. Our trucks are like yours. This one is different! From the looks of the drought looking yard, I'm guessing they are in California. The little guy definitely knew the routine...love his little arm pumping as the can went up. Aw.

    2. My little town in Oklahoma has those automated trucks for our trash and for our recycle cans too. It is kind of funny to me that we are ahead of the pack in sanitation :)

    3. Yeah...how did your little town get to be so lucky? haha. I think they look really cool!

  9. Really nice story! Sanitation workers don't get much respect but I think they should, especially this one.

    2. Talking of food. I have just eaten a fabulous meal (and I didn't say Dust Bin Men once lol). I was a traditional English meal - roast beef and Yorkshire Pudding. Not sure whether you would know what that is.

Every Thursday I am invited to the Care Home where maria worked for ten years to dine with the residents. Today I dined with a lovely lady aged 98 who used to know and love Maria. She marvels how I manage to eat such a large plate full LOL.

    3. I do know what Yorkshire Pudding is...but I've never had it! And what a coincidence...I bought a roast yesterday to..well, 'roast'. haha. Yum.

I think that is so nice that you are invited to eat there on Thursdays! What a treat...and you don't have to cook for yourself that day! And you cleaned your plate, too? haha.

    4. I'll tell you! The lady who runs the Care Home, Pat, is an angel! She loved Maria like a daughter and treats me like her brother. She often cooks for me and we enjoy each other's company. In fact several of them look after me a bit. lol. Must be be my magnetic personality ROFL. I wish!!

    5. Well, I think that's wonderful! They don't want you to go hungry, you know! And of course it's because of who you are...wonderful you. If you were an unpleasant mean old man, they might not be wanting your company or to look after you! ha. :) And hey...you're the ongoing recipient of a RAK!

    6. On-going RAK! Yes and for that I am very grateful,
      btw You say Truck
      We say Lorry

    8. I had some Thomas The Tank Engine books when I was a little boy. Gordon, Henry, James, The Fat Controller etc. Seems like yesterday.

  17. That is fantastic!

I like to think that I do small acts of random kindness every day but the only examples I can think of right now relate to my students. However, I am not certain if going above and beyond with them fits the "random" criteria.
