Getting quite a bit milder here in the next few days, but -28C with the wind chill tonight. Honestly, I think I have become a hibernating bear... and this from someone who loves winter! Hope you are staying cosy today.
We're staying cozy today! Haven't left the house...the big kids came over for pancakes, eggs and bacon. Sipped coffee and watched the birdies in the feeder. Very relaxing!
I should have remembered the Female House Sparrow from your recent bird test. We have just one variety of sparrow but the numbers are very depleted.
Guess what? It's raining!!!
When I was on secondment to a company (also called a 'firm') in the North of England in a town called Darwen there was a saying because it rained very frequently. Darwen had a tower built on the hillside and the saying went: "If you can't see the tower it is raining, if you can see it, it is going to rain!" lol
Yes but this year the rainfall is truly exceptional. I expect all that snow causes a few cracks and crevices to appear in hands and faces lol . I expect you are all as fed up with the snow as we are with this rain.
I have another really great quote which you might like:
"Aim for the stars and you might just reach the ceiling. Aim for the ceiling and you'll never get off the ground!"
Unfortunately I learned this far too late in life - had it been otherwise you might be talking to a brain surgeon or a nuclear physicist! ROFL
Gosh! It's quiet in blogland these days. Have you noticed that a lot of folk have given it up or having a rest? I used to know zillions of people and a nucleus of really talented writers/bloggers but they have almost all exited Blogsville.
I've found a lot more Brit/American word differences lol Maybe for a future occasion.
lol Thought you'd like it. Hey, if you want a good laugh visit my friend Ann at Retired and Crazy. I roasted her about the same time as you on The Sunday Roast.
Her culinary skills are rather like mine - in their infancy!! lol This and her previous posts are hoots
Lovely quote. The simple things in life have the most beauty. And how blessed are those who can see it. This reminds me of one of my favorite quotes by Wayne Dyer..."change the way you look at things and things you look at change". Have a great weekend and enjoy the full moon tonight. 🌝
Oh, I love that quote and it's new to me so thanks for sharing it! Perfect! I'll have to look for the moon! It's pretty cloudy here, though...we're supposed to get more snow in the morning!
You notice the little things, Gloria! I can tell in how you present your pretty foods on your blog with lovely dishes and arrangements! And pretty photos on my wall! ha.
Have you ever sent any of your photos to the magazine Birds and Blooms. I think your picture are as good, and most of the way better than anything they share. My neighbor CeCe gives me her copies when she's through.
Such beautiful words...
ReplyDeleteI love that quote! :)
DeleteI like his frosted shoulders!
ReplyDeleteShe was so cute...little snow flakes on her head and wings. I took several snaps of her but this one was the best.
DeleteOops! I should have said "her!" I knew that!

ReplyDeletehere is to the the noticers
in this world.
and the gawkers? ha.
DeleteWhat a great quote! I think one of the reasons I'm so addicted to photography is that it helps me to see beauty where I might otherwise miss it.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with that...it makes you focus on one thing and see it in a different way!

DeleteSometimes I just look around, take a deep breath, and heave a contented sigh.
DeleteYou're not looking around inside on days with lots of kids, though, I presume? haha.
DeleteSometimes, when my perspective is in the right place, even a messy house can be beautiful.

"Wamma? Do you has any woot nacks?"
Great quote.
ReplyDeleteI notice you say in a comment 'her'. What kind of bird is she and is her chest puffed out with pride or is she trying to keep warm?
Yes, she is a female house sparrow. Isn't she sweet? She's all puffed out to keep warm...just like we would put on layers to do the same.
DeleteYou asked if I knew any Brits. No, I'm afraid I don't! Just in blog land!
I should have remembered the Female House Sparrow from your recent bird test.

I'll give you another bird lesson if you review the 17 tables with me. haha.
DeleteGuess what? It's snowing! :) We got another few inches last night and more is coming in the morning!
Funny quote....I guess you don't have to worry about dry skin over there. I bet lotion sales are much higher over here than there!

Our snow is exceptional, too! I guess precipitation all over the globe is exceptional! lol....
DeleteWe all get a little wiser as we get older, don't we? Too bad it has to work that way. ha.

It's especially quiet on the weekends! It is true that the people I blogged with originally are not here for the most part!
