This And That

  1. Spiced Oat and Currant Muffins waiting to go in the oven.
  2. Testing the finished product.
  3. Simmering orange peel, cinnamon and allspice makes the house smell wonderful.
  4. I almost thought a kangaroo had been in the yard. ha.
  5. Kitchen towels, fresh from the laundry.
  6. Mrs. Junco.
  7. A gift from my niece, home from New England.  It's a Glug Glug Jug,  an updated version of the beloved English antique!  It makes a gulping sound when you pour from it.  It was so fun I watered my plants with it today!

  1. Those gurgly jugs are lots of fun aren't they! Looks as though you have had a busy and productive day, but I am wondering which one of your cats has been leaping around like a Roo in the snow! xx

    2. Hello Amy - it's me!! I just suggested to Betsy that the footprint in the snow is NOT a kangaroo but a PANDA walking backwards lol

  3. I want to spend a leisurely day baking in my kitchen too. It used to happen, maybe it will happen again some day.
I think maybe I need to find a friend who wants to sell baked goods with me.

  4. That jug is fabulous and love the way you have caught the light on it.
I see yet another birds has visited your garden.
The conundrum about the footprint is easy. It is a Panda walking backwards!!
btw did you see my other verse on your list post? lol
Love all the eats!! They look delicious.

    1. a panda....well now, why didn't I think of that? Of course! ha.

I did see your 3rd verse! You do make me laugh, you know? :)

Have you seen the antique glugging jugs over there? Maybe I'll find one at the auctions some day!

    2. No have not seen jugs like this before although I am only a man and we do not notice these things as well as the fair sex.

    3. the fair sex? well, you do have a point there....hahaha...

Hey, you don't suppose Santa saw those kangaroo prints in the snow and got all confused with that package and Australia, do you? ha.

    4. Good thinking but not quite good enough - I have been watching Sherlock Holmes and I think he would deduce that the footprints are not a Panda or a Kangaroo but in fact they belong to Rudolph because he sneaked the package all the way from Australia and wanted to pop it through your mail box before anyone could see him so he asked Rudolph to tip toe in the snow but he crashed down on his fetlocks and so made a funny impression in the snow. LOL

    5. Oh, so that's how it all happened. I didn't realize Santa was in that superior intelligence category as Sherlock Holmes! My oh my...I thought maybe he was more along the lines of Watson! hahaha..... Well, it's fun to think of my package coming from Bristol, England by way of Melbourne....to Ohio. hahaha....

    6. I ate that Double Decker bar for breakfast today. So yummy with my coffee. I'm blaming you for my unhealthy ways today. lol....

  5. We were sure on the same page today. I made Don some Banana muffins with raw sugar, wheat flour and a handful of granola. They look at lot like yours only darker. Did laundry. Beautiful day so I hung my skirts and tops outside on the picnic umbrella. Your glug, glug is darling, and love that rich cobalt color. Doesn't it feel good to have all the kitchen towels clean and folded. "Footprints in the snow" sounds like a poem.

Footprints in the snow....like Footprints in the sand? Except I'm pretty sure Jesus' footprints didn't look like this...lol....

  6. Over the pond and down under on the go
My, you are traveling to at your show
From jugs to wannabe kangaroos hopping about
That jug would be fun to whip out
    Making noises to annoy
That would bring me joy lol

    1. My cats are acting like kangaroos!
      What am I to do!
      Never a dull moment here
as now the jugs call out with cheer.
Truly is just like a zoo!
How did this happen, I ask you? ha.

  9. Your muffins look yummy! I've never cooked with currents before. Aren't they similar to raisins?

    1. I had never, either! There was a box of them on the clearance shelf at the grocery so I picked them up for just a few cents. Yes, they are a little like raisins...even craisins...but smaller. I thought they tasted just like raisins straight from the box, but became more flavorful after baking in the muffins. A nice change, for sure!

  10. An array of your pics
    Tempts me to rhyme
    More it appears now
    Than at any other time.

    The sweet smell of muffins
    So tasty they’re looking
    And such an aroma
    From the allspice cooking.

    Grab a fresh towel
    To clean off the toes
    Of cat, panda or kangaroo
    Who on earth knows?

    Mrs. Junco looks pretty
    Surveying the scene
    Thirsty plants are well watered
    From the glug-glug machine!

  13. Please save a muffin for me! I'd enjoy that for tea later today! Ah, the gurgling fish pitcher! Yes, those go back many years. Many old ones are majolica. Beautiful replica you have there from your niece. You can serve yourself all those glasses of water in style, little doll! I'll have you know that your cleaning bug has finally bitten me! Well, at least I blew the dust off the spine of a book I pulled from the shelf yesterday before I sat down for a good read. (smiling)

  14. Hi Betsy .. the glug glug jug is excellent to think about .. and then your spiced orange aromas also seem good when I've got building dust and aromas around .. Mrs Junco is obviously feeling the chill .. while your laundry cloths look so fresh and colourful ..

    Cheers Hilary
