We went to bed without any snow and woke up
to about 6 inches on the ground!
It has continued snowing throughout the day and
instead of my usual photos, I thought I'd share a little
video clip! That way you folks in the warmer states
that don't get to see snow can experience it, too!
At least for 30 seconds. ha.
This is my back yard, covered in a white blanket!
♥
We got dumped on today! Some places had a foot or more, but living so close to Lake Ontario has stirred up a bit of wind here. We have both bare patches with grass showing through and drifts up past our knees. The governor has declared a state of emergency, which makes me laugh because the weather can change so quickly from one place to another. I think it's mostly the wind chill that is making things so difficult. No matter how much they clear the roads (or try to salt them), they aren't clear for long. It's a good night to stay home and listen to the wind howl outside.
ReplyDeleteOh, I bet you did get a lot of snow with the lake right there to howl on you! haha. We probably have 10 inches by now. It's the light, powdery kind, though instead of the heavy wet stuff. It was kinda fun walking in it today as I was our in the yard. It's only 14 degrees before the windchill right now. I'm expecting the boys will be home tomorrow just because of the windchills.
DeleteWe don't have that drifting, though, like you...it's just piling up deep...makes the bird bath look cool. haha.
Our snow is light and powdery too. It's down to about 7º F right now with a wind chill of about -20º. Nice night to have extra blankets. Saturday's forecast to be a heat wave with temps of 33º. Almost snowman weather!
DeleteWe're ONLY 8 below with the windchill. ha...nice and toasty compared to you!
DeleteOooh- snow! Thank you for sharing your bounty! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, isn't it? :)
DeleteBeautiful! We have no heat tonight and it is the coldest night of the year - minus 33C with the wind chill! I am snuggling under a mound of blankets... hibernating.
ReplyDeleteNo heat? Oh my! Stay warm! See...you need a kitty! They make great bed warmers! ha.
DeleteYou're right! Could you spare one? Or two? :-)
DeleteWell, you know I do! ha.
DeleteGreat shots of the snow - what a surprise for you. Did you have to build a snowman.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we shall have snow for a while - too much rain and flooding right now.
Glad Blogger decided to behave itself.
Blogger...geesh! That video still didn't turn out as I wanted it to. But it's really hard to get blogger to change his mind...stubborn man that he is. lol....
DeleteBeautiful! We have a "heavy dusting", but with some black ice underneath. No school for us tomorrow. Enjoy your snow!
ReplyDeleteA snow day...bet the kids are happy! :)
DeleteOh yuck yuck and more yuck
ReplyDeleteWe are going to have the same crummy luck
Dumped on tomorrow and tonight
Glad no where to go at my site
Also wrong title from you last mistake post
Said blanket of snow before at your coast lol

Deleteas blogger is being a very mean host

and not let you do things you want to do
to make your post better for you!
ha.
haha yep, has done it to me
DeleteA time or three
Blogger is almost worse than snow
Almost at my show
I still don't like what they did to my snow
Deletethey made the clip tall and skinny and blurry, at my show. :(
I love snow! and I know Pat doesn't like! but I love, betsy!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I love it, too! So lovely!
DeleteI was actually able to watch that on my phone!
ReplyDeleteWell, good! And there wasn't any audio, so you didn't miss anything. :)
DeleteOMY! Is like Christmas again lol
ReplyDeleteI show to my mom and she loved:)

DeleteBut Im sure betsy will answer you:)
Oh good! I bet it looks especially wonderful to you during summer!

DeleteOh dear! How about I box some up for you and send it in the mail! haha.
Deleteyes good idea! But I beat I would receive only wáter haha
DeleteWARM water. hahaha.....
DeleteIt's very pretty, but not on the roads! We had our first day without snow in some time. :)
ReplyDeleteToday? Sounds like you're going to miss all of the fuss!
DeleteGlad YOU got all that snow and not me!
ReplyDeleteMe, too! But then, I don't have to drive in it every day. ha.
DeleteGreat little video...What a beautiful white blanket. I was watching the weather channel, and it was showing just how much snow was dumped on you and Martha. Hope you have some hot chocolate ready.
ReplyDeleteBetsy..just a note: When I visited Elizabeth today, I ask her if she wanted me to hang her new cat calendar on the wall. Her answer surprised me as she said NO! She doesn't want it that far away where she can't see it. She had it on her little table so she can hold it up close and look at the pictures. You've made a dear lady so happy.
Aw..thanks for telling me that. That just made my day! Anything to put a smile on her face...she deserves that. How fun!
DeleteBeautiful! Ours started last night and went most of the day today. We had high winds and a lot of drifting.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I think we missed the drifting! It seemed to fall straight down and pile high. It was really fun to walk in! ha.
DeleteSnowing here too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a large yard you have!
Get those decorations put away, girl⛄️
Cheers!
Linda:o)
I had a completely unproductive day. :( I need a kick in the rear..I'm usually raring to go after the holidays! ha.
DeleteI think unproductive days are godsends sometimes, and just what we need. Plus... you're the most productive person I know!!! Be kind to yourself. :-)
DeleteWell, I may have another....the boys are home again today! ha.
DeleteI love the video, especially seeing the snow falling. We got about ten inches total over the past three day. People were digging out pretty well and then had to go back to work today so things were a bit difficult getting around (poor mailman). What a way to kick off the year!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
I think it's the cold that is bothering people more than the snow....well, for those of us that are used to getting snow in the winter! I was out just 5 minutes today without gloves on and my fingers were in pain!
DeleteYour yard looks beautiful with the snow! Seems very peaceful... nary a cat in sight! Were they all in the warmth of your house? ;)
ReplyDeleteWe probably had even more snow than that. And now the bitter cold is coming our way.
It is bitterly cold! But the sky sure is blue and cloudless! No humidity or moisture to make it hazy at all! It's beautiful!
DeleteWhat a lot of snow!! It looks beautiful as it is falling though. Amazing how it makes everything look as though it is switched to black and white isn't it. No snow here - thank goodness! - but lots and lots and lots of wind and rain with lots of flooding in the UK. Hope that you stay safe and warm. xx
ReplyDeleteUgh....that sounds like a soggy, miserable time! Shall I send snow? ha.
DeleteHmmmmm let me think! No, keep your snow, the east costers are apparently already sending theirs, so I'm not sure that you need to send some too, you enjoy it over there! More floods due tonight. I saw swans swimming in a field today on the way to get groceries - must have been deep. Thankfully the canal had not flooded though so I could get out of the village and not have to go the loooooong way round. xx
DeleteI like all the different tones of gray.
ReplyDeleteSo quiet,
It is quiet! I love that when it's falling!
DeleteNone here yet, but I have to say this is the coldest, iciest winter we have had down here in the south in a long time!
ReplyDeleteStay warm!
DeleteHi Betsy - your snow is sweeping across the Atlantic and we have gales and packets of rain storms, much flooding .. and general disarray ... poor anyone who is flooded out or has storm damage .. Loved seeing the garden in snow .. great idea ..
ReplyDeleteHappy snowtimes ... cheers Hilary
I'll try to stay warm...and you try to stay dry! haha.
DeleteWell we are having record heat temps and so it makes me feel kinda guilty to see how cold it is for you. But at the same time when I see the beautiful video it almost makes me feel like I am missing something. Then again I am in a tank top and shorts hating my menopausal heater. I just worry if all the cats have made it safely inside or are somewhere safe and warm. Please keep us updated and I hope the boys are enjoying a day at home..
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Oh, no need to feel sorry for us...we love it! The snow is just beautiful. I'd rather look out and see pretty snow than brown, barren winter land any day! If you have a menopausal heater running, you'd probably love it, too! Probably wouldn't even change that outfit! lol....
DeleteJust discovered your beautiful blog and have now put it in my bookmarks bar. I am coping with cancer and am therefore limited in my ability to get out and about and living with a fair amount of stress, so blogs like yours are very important to me. The snow photos are absolutely splendid and reflect your love for Nature and Her creatures. Please keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteWell thank you so much for commenting and letting me know you are there! It's always fun to see who read..and do continue to comment! That way we can chat! :) Best of luck to you and my most sincere wishes and prayers to you for a full recovery! xo
