Housewife Nails

I gave myself a fresh pedicure yesterday and decided to
do a manicure, too.  I rarely paint my fingernails...I mean,
what's the point?  And sure enough, after doing dishes
just once, they don't look like this anymore! ha.
Well, the butterflies are still there, at least!

  4. I have never had a mani or a pedi by anyone but me!I have issues with germs, I know, I'm a weirdo, I think you did a lovely job! I rarely paint my nails, I find now its just Garry and I my nails are great, no more stuck in hot water all day!Hot water and repetitive hand washing is the enemy of strong healthy nails,

  8. I get my nails done with shellac. I always do French nails and it costs $25, but it lasts a month! No chipping or peeling. Because it's french nails it doesn't show unless you look closely as it grows out.
    Your butterflies are cute!

  10. I don't do my nails anymore; I've never found a nail polish that will stay unchipped for more than a day. Once I paid to have a manicure done and nicked them getting into the car :-)

  11. Pretty! And yep, they won't last long doing housework and or dishes. But isn't it nice sometimes to have your hands on the pretty list, too.
Back when I worked I kept my hands in the lovely dept. and let the nails grow. Now I keep them uber short, cleaned up, a oil based strengthener and that's about it. I do get Pedi's as I can't handle my feet getting grody. ;)

Our temps are still in the hot zone, too. Fry up those green tomatoes. Did a few last week and Yum-me!

    1. I'm blind. I thought that read green tomatoes and it read garden tomatoes. Go ahead.
      Make salsa. haha.

    2. yep...if you work, it's nice to have long nails and have them painted. I did enjoy that. I still like to keep them looking nice...just skip the polish. I'm with you on the feet...I'm kind of OCD about them. ha.

I have to make salsa this weekend...I think I can count about 30 tomatoes out there that are red!
I love fried green tomatoes! I'll be doing those just before the frost...when it's too cold for them to ripen any more. Yum! Do you use cornmeal? Love that flavor combination!

    3. oil based strengthener....nice! I've been rubbing coconut oil into mine...love it!

    4. Oh I keep them looking nice just short nails and rarely polished. I use Tips. Not a cheap product but it protects my nails really good. But since you mentioned the coconut oil i'll be giving that a try. My son and dil are using it as a diaper rash thing on the new grand and so far so good. The stuff like vinegar is amazing. ha.
Yes! I use cornmeal *southern girl here..we cornmeal everything and then fry it*:D with a pinch of flour. Also dipped in buttermilk. To die for.

I made a buttermilk pie last nite. Of course hubby won't touch it.

  12. It is a shame it gets ruined from washing dishes. I know some women who always wear rubber gloves when washing dishes but I find it is hard to handle the dishes with gloves on and so I never wear them. You nails do look really pretty with the polish and butterflies on them. They look like a professional shaped them and getting them to be the same length is a hard thing to do, at least for me. Once I get the right length they all start breaking, one by one until I have to start all over again. If only my fingernails were as strong as my toenails then my fingernails would be two inches long. I see some women who have nails like that and actually I do not know how they do anything and not break them.

But on another note, I am not sure if you every buy any Avon products but they sell all kinds of nail products at a decent price and even better if you buy it on sale. All kinds of different polishes and decorating tools, stickers and glue on things. Plus creams for your cuticles and hands for helping to keep your nails strong. Also they are coming out with a new "Gel" line of polishes. Not sure what is the difference between Gel polish and regular polish.

Also I just posted a rhyme about Socks the cat. I had not known he died a few years ago. He started out as a stray too. Made me think of Freckles.

Still amazed you found time for your nails. Another hidden talent!

    God bless.

    1. I've never been a fan of rubber gloves, either...I think they are hot and maybe a little claustrophobic. ha. I'll have to investigate those gel polishes. I've heard they dry really fast...maybe they last longer, too!

coming over to read your rhyme. I have a cat named Socks, too, you know...but he's still very much alive. :)

  19. I like the idea of doing one finger nail instead of every finger. It is so elegant. I never get my nails done anymore...I'm too impatient to sit there!

  20. Very pretty. I also like the idea of only doing one nail It makes it look very special
