- Cocoa loves to lay in my lap while I sit at my desk. His fur has changed from cocoa-brown to shiny licorice as he's grown up this year. I thought about changing his name. But Licorice just doesn't roll off the tongue very well. And the nicknames are too funny. Licky? Licor? uh...no. I just love his blue-ish green eyes! It's been 7 months since he knocked on our back door during a late night heavy snow fall. He still hasn't divulged who told him we'd take him in. lol... It's about time to get him neutered, too. He's strutting around here like he owns the place, even though he's on the lowest rung of the ladder. ;)
- Where did September go?
- I switched seasons in my clothes closet today. I also pulled out 32 items that I never wear to go to the thrift store. Some of them I literally laughed at and said aloud, "Why in the heck have I been holding on to that?" :)
- I changed out the covers on all of my Pinterest boards. It's kind of like redecorating your house. ha. It was fun! I'm also enjoying 'following' many of you! If I don't follow you, let me know...I'd love to! It's not just for girls, you know. Even Alan is on Pinterest! :)
- The big kids both started new jobs today! Career jobs with positions in their fields of training. And they're both at the same company! Lauren in finance with her accounting degree and Taylor with his business marketing is in PR as a Digital Advertising Specialist. Really proud of both of them! And as a bonus, they live just 5 minutes away from work. Pretty great that they won't spend their paychecks just to commute!
- The leaves have started to turn! We aren't in full force yet by any means, but bits of yellow, orange and red are dotting the landscape!
- It's damp and chilly this evening. Drinking a cup of green tea instead of my usual bowl of ice cream. I'm a warm weather ice cream eater. How about you? Do you eat it all year long? I love it during the warm months, but I freeze if I eat it when it's cold out. The Mister doesn't share this sentiment, though, and requested I keep buying ice cream for at least another month. ha.
♥
hey its just dark cocoa....smiles....ah i love the leaves turning as well....green tea doesnt sound bad now either....cool but dry here....um, yeah its october...christmas is just around the corner...
ReplyDeleteChristmas? Oh no...I'm not about to wish that to be here yet. I intend to enjoy every day of fall without any ho-ho-ho or sparkly lights. ha. Fall seems so short as it is with us taking December away! lol....
Deletedark cocoa....maybe I should have named him Hershey? :)
DeleteI can't believe September is done either - it's gone too quickly! I love Pinterest - just looked you up and started following you.
ReplyDeleteHooray for Lauren and Taylor. I'm sure they'll do great and I'm glad they have a short commute. My hubby and I both have about a 7 minute commute and it's spoiled us.
Can't believe how quickly September flew by! Good grief!
DeleteI used to drive 45 minutes one way to work, so I can really appreciate the short commute. For years the mister walked across the street! ha. Yeah, they'll do great...they are both talented, smart and excited. God has really blessed them! So many can't find jobs..especially ones where they use their degrees.
Yay...I found you, too! Fun!
DeleteGlad things are going so well for the big kids. You must be so proud. And I'm about to enter tea season, too!
ReplyDeleteyou're a cold weather tea drinker? Who knew!? :)
DeleteI'll bet there's lotsa stuff you don't know about me. Ha.
DeleteI'm sure that is true! And that's probably a good thing!
DeleteI think Silver love to be misterious:))
DeleteIs that what the mask is for? haha....You know him better than me, I am sure!
DeleteAt least you can talk comics...I can't! :)
Of course not You know him more time tan me:)
DeleteBut he is misterious lol
very!
Deletenow I think we better both duck! lol....
DeleteGood idea. Ha.
DeleteAwww... Cocoa is so adorable! Yes,it's time to make the switch to fall and winter. I just switched out into my fall purse and have my warm fuzzy jackets out. I'm on Pinterest and started following you. I'll have to check out your changes. Tom is on too. I got him hooked... Ha.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Lauren and Taylor!
I switched purses, too! Time to put the sea grass one away! :) I'll look for Tom on Pinterest! Yeah, it's easy to get hooked! I resisted forever and then when I got there I loved it.
DeleteThere were 8 Toms! But of course I found him right away! ha.
DeleteAnd you have some really fun boards! :)
DeleteThanks! I enjoy looking at yours too. So many great ideas : )
DeleteI'm sure he wouldn't get picky
ReplyDeleteif you called him licky
Pinterest you say
Got enough on the go at my bay
Need another rhyming cat for that lol
And yeah the nasty snow will soon be here at our mat
Licky it will never be!
DeleteThat just sounds too icky!

Lickity split
DeleteThat could fit
I like your random thoughts...wish I could remember mine...to write down!
ReplyDeleteHappy for the newlyweds...living and working together...wonderful or horrible...time will tell!
Oh yes...it is indeed Fall..and our Thanksgiving is just 2 weeks away...better start the Turkey hunt!
Another gluten-free dinner...I guess...never made pumpkin pie...perhaps I should this year...maybe pumpkin cheesecake...
Well,,,guess these are some of my random thoughts...not really a Pinterest person..can hardly find the time to do this blogging thing!
As I ramble on and on...
Thanks for listening Betsy...
Enjoy the rest of your evening...
Oh...I love ice cream anyday...anywhere...anytime...tell the Mr!!!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Well, not really working together. Same company...different departments.
DeleteOh, I am so glad Thanksgiving isn't that soon down here! ha. Pumpkin cheesecake sounds good...I've had it and it's wonderful!
You would love Pinterest. It's like creating your own magazine of your favorite things without ads and without anything you don't love. Anything you see online that you want to try, remember or save, this gives you a place to do that.
I can see your boards already...flowers, food, knitting, gluten free, lakeside cabin living.... :)
beautiful fur, I would love to pet that lovely kitty, I NEVER eat ice cream in winter, only in summer, and I never buy it for home, we always go to Dairy Queen, this is all new with no children at home its just the way we do it now,
ReplyDeleteHe's especially soft, too...love his fur!
DeleteWe would eat a lot less ice cream if I didn't bring it home! lol....
Cocoa is lovely ! Here is cold still betsy, a crazy Spring, in the morning soooo cold, and then some lovely sunshine, and now cold again!
ReplyDeleteAnyway I was seeing the apricots trees and look well at this momento, and the pears!
I dont see roses still maybe they need more hot time, anyway I wáter when I can.
Ah Autumn is always my favorite season!
Love the guys are so well, they are a sweet couple!
cold...warm in the afternoon..then cold...your spring sounds just like our fall! :) Pretty, still, though, don't you think?
Deleteyes, the big kids said they had great first days! :)
Yes I think spring and fall are something special! maybe tomorrow would be hot!
DeleteI definitely like something hot to drink when the weather cools. I am probably done frequenting the local ice cream shop, but one never really can be sure until that "Closed fort he Season" sign comes out. Besides, soft ice cream just isn't as cold as the hard stuff.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering where September went too.
Nice lap warmer there. :0)
I think I'm done, too....but I'm intrigued by a pumpkin ice cream sandwich made with my ginger cookies! ha. Might have to do that before calling it quits til next summer. I can always drink hot tea afterward to warm up, right? lol....
DeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteI try not to eat ice cream ANY time of the year, but during the heat of the summer I had a nightly custard cup of frozen watermelon chunks. I'm done with that till next year, though.
ReplyDeleteOh, ice cream is my favorite...I probably ate 5 gallons all by myself over the course of the summer. lol....
Deletedon't you just love Fall! so good to have a clear out!
ReplyDeleteMary x
It's my favorite! And yes, my closet needed that! ha.
DeleteYou could eat ice cream ALL year as long as you had a lap full of cats! They would keep you nice and cosy... and it seems you have enough to go around :-)
ReplyDeletewell, you have a point there! :)
DeleteI wish that I knew where September went, I thought the same thing when I woke up this morning. Congrats to your children on their new jobs, I wish them all the best and hope they love the new challenges. It is amazing isn't what you find when you start turning out cupboards, some finds you forgot about and love and always some scary stuff that gives you the "what was I thinking" moments. I had a cardigan thingy a few years ago with this great big stringy collar, I never wore it even once and when I found it hidden away, well.....
ReplyDeleteyeah...it can go both ways...you find a treasure you forgot you had or you get a laugh as you pitch the thing. haha.
DeleteIf you have a black cat can I assume you are not superstitious?
ReplyDeleteWell, let's see...Velvet, Cinder, Shadow, and Cocoa ....nope, not superstitious! lol.....
Deleteand I can't forget my dear late Teddy! :)
DeleteThat's so cool about Taylor and Lauren, well done to them! Great post as usual Betsy, where did September go indeed?
ReplyDeleteI know! I hope October goes by a little more slowly!
DeleteI never Knew a cats fur could change color, I would stick with cocoa though. He can just be that fancy dark roasted kind.
ReplyDeleteYippie on jobs for both newlyweds! That is a real blessing in this economy. It sounds like a fun company too.
I've never seen that, either! But we'll stick with Cocoa since he already knows his name. Yep...super excited for T and L....and they know how fortunate they are, too! Many friends still looking for jobs!
DeleteWhen I was a child all my toys had really strange names. I had a great big stuffed poodle, grey with a stripe all along his spine, and I called him Stephen Liquorice Malcolm. You're right. Liquorice doesn't really trip off the tongue but that never put me off. I had a toy garden with a plastic toy gardener and he was called James Dollshouse Babbage. Goodness knows where I got that from!
ReplyDeleteOh, now that is hilarious! Sounds like you were one imaginative child!
DeleteWhat a great way to "honor a parent", great jobs and special perks, like a small commute!
ReplyDeleteI'm all smiles over here!
I don't enjoy ice cream. When I want those extra calories, give me a yummy pie (and no ice cream on it either).
I started on my Fall Fun list. Can't wait to see what is next.
Yeah, I feel honored, alright! ;)
DeleteI'm not an a la mode girl either. I keep my pie, cake and ice cream separated! ha.
Can't wait to see your list!
It's posted along the side of my blog.
DeleteStill trying to figure out a better way of doing it, though.
That sounds swell Betsy for the big kids and the little black cat is a sweetie.
ReplyDeleteyes neuter him!! I have had my fair share of tail sprinklers on the couch sides.
If nothing gets me angrier it's that. lol
Finally I had to throw the couch away.
Hope you have a great day. Here it is raining away like the sky has nothing else to do.
xoxoox
Oh! No, I haven't had any spraying ever! Cocoa is a good litter box boy. ha. But he does try to pick fights like he's top dog...er um...cat. lol.....
DeleteThat little Cocoa is so cute...and lucky to have found YOU.
ReplyDeleteDear Betsy,
ReplyDeleteCocoa is a cute cat, whatever colour he wears. His eyes are so extraordinary!
I guess, you do feel happy, that the careers of the young couple go so well, don´t you? And to be so lucky as to get jobs five minutes away! This will not only spare them some money but also they will gain a lot of precious time to spend with nicer things than driving to/from work.
Take care
Christel
Aren't his eyes pretty? All the other cats here have gold eyes, so his really stand out!
DeleteCocoa - could come here if he'd like a holiday??!! So pleased to read about Lauren and Taylor - that must be so satisfying for both families ... just wonderful .. cheers Hilary
