I'm always wishing my boys with autism could talk.
But sometimes, the wish is a little stronger....
like when I want an answer to the question,
"Why are you laying in a dry bathtub?" haha.
He'd already had his bath and the water was gone!
Some things will forever remain a mystery. lol....
♥
Mysteries are the best sellers. Maybe he needed a quiet moment by himself! Just love his expression with you taking the picture.
ReplyDeleteLove and Hugs
I think he was expecting me to say, "Get out of there!" haha.
DeleteI am going to guess the coolness of the empty tub is somehow comforting or at the very least cooling. My imagination says that would feel pretty good to me right about now, but I don't think I'll be doing it. :)
ReplyDeletea bath would feel good to me right now....better than an empty tub. ha.
DeleteBecause it's there?
ReplyDeletehaha...that answer is as good as any!
Deleteand sometimes those mysteries make life all the more fun anyway...smiles...
ReplyDeletei am thinking it felt cool too
ya think? Well, then we're just having a ball over here. hahaha.
DeleteProbably very comfortable. don't have to dry off.
ReplyDeleteHe does look comfy, doesn't he!
DeleteIt's called Dry Cleaning
DeleteLOL!!!
DeleteAwww...looks kinda embarrassed to me...do 'ya think?
ReplyDeleteI don't know where you get your patience from, Betsy..
YOU are awesome!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Oh, I think he just looks like he doesn't want me to make him get out. haha. I thought it was hilarious, of course..that's why I snapped his pictures. lol....
Deletecould he write the answer down, ( pardon my stupidity if i'm off the mark), we just met again with the Autistic doctor today again, we are learning more and more everyday, but I just wondered if he communicates by writing, he looks comfy, probably feels safe in the closed in space,
ReplyDeletehe can write or type some words but I don't think he'd be able to write down a reason. I think he was just having fun or hiding from a DVD spencer was playing...something he's scared of.
DeleteI'm beginning to understand the not understanding the flow of conversation, thats what our gracie is missing, she doesn't interact.I wish with every fiber of my being that the little spark that has gone out that makes them the way they are could one day just light up and make them whole, he is a very handsome fella, it must be so hard not knowing what he's thinking although by now you read them well, the good and the bad, lol, night night betsy,
DeleteI wish that wish, too! xo
DeleteI wonder if it is the confined space he was needing. My son with Asperger's likes to have a blanket wrapped around him, the tightness of it. Maybe the bathtub is like a firm bodysock?
ReplyDeletemaybe! I do laugh at them while they sleep...they like their blankets wrapped really tight around them. That would drive me crazy! ha.
DeleteOh Betsy I think he looks comfortable:)
ReplyDeleteMaybe he need a private space lol
but is funny you enter the bathroon and he was there?
yes...he was there!
DeleteMaybe he was hot, and the cool tub felt good. :-)
ReplyDeletemaybe, but we just finished baths, so the tub was probably not cool yet. ha.
DeleteI'm imagining he feels safe surrounded on all sides ... I cannot imagine how you wish for a simple answer to 'tell Mom where it hurts.' :=(
ReplyDeleteoh yeah...that's the worst...trying to figure out where they hurt and what exactly is wrong if they are sick. You learn to read body language and tiny signs very well!
DeleteIt is nice and cool in there and probably quiet.
ReplyDeletequiet...maybe that's what he was going for!
DeleteHis thought process went this way : "If I climb in this empty bath with my clothes on, eventually my Mom will spot me, and then she will run off and get her camera, and then I will get to star on her Blog again. And guess what, he's a star.
ReplyDeletewell, now, you might have a point there! And his strategy worked! :)
DeleteSome of my kids like to hide in the bathtub when they are playing hide and seek. I think it's a cute place to hang out. :)
ReplyDeletethat's a great hide-n-seek spot!
DeleteHi Betsy .. yes - it would be so good to know ... I like Alan's thought above ..
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend .. Hilary
I like his idea, too! And he should know I always have my camera handy!
DeleteThis photo really made me laugh Betsy, pretty adorable to be honest with you. Do the boys ever talk amongst themselves?
ReplyDeleteIt made me laugh, too! No, they don't...but they can communicate quite well among themselves without talking!
DeleteThat's a shame Betsy, I wasn't aware of that! But still awesome they communicate well.
DeleteI was wondering too if it was the confined space he wanted like Amber mentioned above. Like her son with Asperger's, Matt loves to be wrapped tightly in a blanket and always sleeps with a blanket tightly wrapped around his head, even if his room is hot! When he was younger I was always afraid he was going to smother himself in the night. I'm sure after all these years you've become very adept at reading body language, but it must be frustrating when you can't figure out the reason for some behaviors. It's great though that you can find humor in those situations!
ReplyDeleteIt actually doesn't seem confining enough to me, but who knows! My boys do sleep wrapped up tightly together and with blankets...even when it's hot!
DeleteSome are frustrating...only the ones that I really need to know. Things like laying in the tub are just funny. ha.
That's a great shot... and I think Alan may be right. He wants to be a star! Ha.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he does!
DeleteI LOVE THAT PHOTO!!!!!!
ReplyDeletecouldn't resist....
DeleteMysteries can be fun
ReplyDeleteTo try and figure out under ones sun
Like who me?
In here I can't get dirty
that is so true
Deleteas his ocd rules...
I love a good mystery, too. The picture is perfect. He looks like he has an Uh-Oh look on his face and a secret. Boys!
ReplyDeleteBeing a quirky person myself...I like it. :) Was my favorite place to hide when I was a kid. Quiet and a strange echo that was comforting.
JaG
it's the perfect hiding place!
DeleteSweet Harry. I truly believe you will get your answers one day, Betsy... In the same heaven we will all get the answers to questions we have struggled with in this life. That always encourages me to hold in my heart when the questions are pressing hard...
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, what a precious face!! =) Caught, no less! blessings ~ tanna
I used to have a cat who liked to lounge in the tub. All I could think of is that it must have been cooler there than anywhere else in the house.
ReplyDeletea cat? oh, that's funny. None of mine have tried that!
DeleteA lot of people do their thinking in the bathroom, even in the tub.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that Harry wanted some alone time to think.
This picture made me giggle.
I'm giggling that you're back! :)
DeleteLooks like he is relaxing and wanted to have some quiet time. And he does look comfortable : )
ReplyDeleteHa, he looks pretty comfortable there... at least until Mom came and snapped his picture. He probably just wanted to be alone for a while.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter was in my husband's cramped closet (I got the big closet!) under a blanket, head and all, reading. She's 13 and still likes enclosed spaces. I can't really blame her; I like being alone in a car sometimes; just sitting and watching the world go by. It's like a cocoon. Maybe Harry, my daughter, and I have never gotten over being in the comfort of the womb.
ReplyDeleteHe's adorable. :)
Oh...love your header photo! A bit of sky in your beverage.
DeleteI have fallen asleep in the bathtub while letting the water out...yes, I was very tired. The tub is a great place to relax in, with or without water!
ReplyDeleteOh Betsy - what a life you live! This photo just has me giggling out loud...one has to wonder for sure...just what he's thinking. Too darn cute! Thanks for sharing the grins. =D
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet photo {regardless of the unanswered question}.
ReplyDeleteHarry looks perfectly happy to me.
