Hydrangea

Two blue hydrangeas hopped into my cart while I was shopping
and said, "Take me home!" haha.  At $1.99 a piece on clearance, how
could I refuse?  They looked thirsty, too, and you know how I love to
pamper things....people, plants, animals...haha...
So they've had some water and some sunshine...
Now to get them into the ground....maybe this weekend!

  1. Love hydrangeas. Mine started in a pot 4 years ago, and now fills a large cement pot. They bring me much pleasure. You're look so delicate in that light blue.

    1. They might get a nibble
      thinking it's kibble
then they'll nap in it's shade
as they watch the bloom parade.
      ha.

    were strangers no more

  11. Will they stay blue if you plant them in your garden? Where I live they would turn pink.

    1. You can make pink ones turn blue by adding acid to your soil. Blue ones love acidic ground! You can do this by adding Mir-Acid (from makers of Miracle Gro), coffee grounds, or even a 2 liter bottle of cheap cola.

  16. I love that pale blue shade...almost a blue gray. I can see why they caught your eye. I sometimes see the plants at the store and want to rescue them all. They seem so neglected.

  17. Such a delicate and pretty colour. I can see why you were drawn to this. I had a hydrangea for a while but it didn't seem to like where I planted it and it didn't survive for long. Hope you do better!

    1. Oh, too bad! I really don't know much about what makes them thrive or not. They seem to be so big and wonderful in some places and others not so much.

  22. Ah, so lovely. When my sister was born, my grandfather planted a hydrangea bush on one side of his garden path to commemorate the event, and when I was born a year and half later, he planted another on the opposite side. They were still there the last time I visited him many years ago when I was sixteen. My long-winded way of saying hydrangeas are very special to me--and well worth the outlay of $1.99! :)

    1. What a very sweet thing for your grandfather to do...and so neat that they are still there and growing! I thought I got a great deal, too...definitely worth the risk of $2.
