Roof Rescue

I stepped outside yesterday morning to shake out a throw rug
and heard little Cocoa's tiny meow coming from above me!
I looked up and saw his little eyes and ears peering over the gutter
along the roof!   So I got a ladder and got myself with my shoulders
about even with the gutters and tried to get him to come to me.
But he backed away and was too scared to come!

Plan B was to go inside to the only window that opens up onto
part of the roof.  I took out the screen and called to him.
The incline was pretty steep and cats don't really enjoy
walking down inclines like that!  That's why climbing up trees
is easier than climbing down! lol....

He was exhausted...had a hoarse voice and he couldn't
keep his eyes open!  I think he was stuck up there all night!

After about 10 minutes, he finally decided that
coming close enough for me to grab him
up was his best choice!   And I told him that he was

  1. We had cats that used to meow at the dormer windows of our upstairs bedrooms. They would wake us up whenever they felt the urge to get inside.

I'm glad Cocoa has someone who loves him enough to attempt a rooftop rescue.

Isn't it funny that in the night, they know which windows go to the room you are in? Smarty cats. ha.

Yep, Cocoa may decide the surveillance team is not for him

  17. I think I would have waited until Hubby came home because my fear of heights would have never let me climb that ladder. You are one brave woman. Finally starting to get rid of this terrible migraine and sorta being able to handle looking at the computer screen.

    God bless.

  18. In my experience, if a cat can get up, a cat can get down. You never find a cat skeleton in a tree. But you have a gentler spirit than I do. And a brave streak.

  20. Of course Cocoa might have found his way down some time, but of course you wanted to rescue him from being scared and exhausted! I hope, he will keep away for a while from places he cannot yet handle!
We lived with a cat for 18 years, who learned to climb the conservatory roof and then jump up to the window-sill of our bedroom from there. And then he KNOCKED at the glass, till he was let in. In summer nights this could occur six or seven times. Unfortunately my sleep is so deep, that I nearly never heard him knock and meouw at the window. And so most of the 18 years my husband did the job of getting up. Never complained about this, but sometimes sighed, when I remarked in the morning, that obviously there had been a 'very quiet' night...Lol.
    Never ending cat-stories!
