D Is For Daffodils

I took these photos this morning.
The daffodils are just about to open!
It's still quite chilly here in Ohio with frost in spots
on the ground in the morning, but warm sunshine that
hints at more spring-like weather to come.
I suspect that later this week, I'll be able to
cut the first fresh bouquet of the year.

Then I'll have the side yard flower bed full of these!

Did you know that this Sunday, April 7th is
known as Daffodil Sunday?

    1. Ours are usually ruined by ice or snow, so I'm hoping this year will be different and I can get a bouquet to enjoy!

    1. It used to have irises, too, but they've all died off. It needs some TLC when the weather gets warmer. I'm only a fair weather gardener. haha.

  12. Out my way, it doesn't feel much like Spring yet, except for my allergies starting, but our crocuses have emerged. I'll have to take a closer look to see if the daffodils are out, too.

  14. I think you would like it here since we seem to have flowers all year round. But then again we do not seem to have any real weather. Panic ensues if it goes below 32 degrees here but that is because we will lose all of the citrus and avocado crops which does affect the rest of the country. So it is a good thing we have good weather and help to feed everyone and this wet season brought a lot of rain. Not enough to end the drought but enough to help the farmers who in some places have been suffering. Water is worth more than gold in this state since there is so little and with over 36 million people living here that is a lot of water that is needed. We seriously need to build more plants to convert the ocean water into drinking water, or learn how to divert the water from those flooding rivers to this side of the nation. We need to build water pipe lines from the areas that flood each year to the Southwest of this country. I cannot see why those in the government do not see how much this would help our nation. No more areas flooded and water sent where it is needed to grow crops to feed the nation and the world. How hard would it be to send the water to Texas and Oklahoma or other nearby states. Maybe not enough votes in those areas.

Anyway your flowers look like they will be beautiful and we will be lucky enough to enjoy them with you. Looking forward to E.

    God bless.

  25. Daffodils are called Easter Lilies in Scandinavia and that means they should be blooming by now, but are not - way too cold still. I have two daffodil pots in our greenhouse and they look very much like yours, so I am speeding things up a bit.;)
