Today there were little signs of spring!
Kind of funny, since this time last week we were
buried in snow! :) But that's how early spring
is...cold mornings and nights and warm afternoons.
- Buds on my daffodils! Most years they bloom and then get covered in snow. But still fun to see them, the first flowers of the year!
- Longer shadows. Some times I don't even have to see a cat to know that one is doing the neighborhood surveillance watch on the roof! ha. Shadows on the ground tell me one is above my head as I sit as my desk.
- For the first time I got into my Jeep after the grocery shopping and the sun had made it too warm inside to keep my coat on. It was 34F degrees , but the sun made a huge difference. I'm used to turning on the heated seats and cranking up the heat! But today I opened the sunroof a couple of inches for the first part of the drive home.
- Bluer sky and mild breezes. It wasn't the frigid wind we're used to!
"March is summer in the light
and winter in the shade."
~Charles Dickens

Those signs of Spring, they make me happy! :)
ReplyDeletehaha...I know they do! I'd be really surprised if we didn't get more snow before winter was entirely finished with us, though. Don't put your winter coat and boots in storage just yet!
Deleteha funny you should mention that. because I was thinking a few days ago that maybe if I just refuse to wear them the cold will go away. haha :)
DeleteI always say if I wash the boys' winter coats to put away for the season, it will snow! haha. I won't jinx the lovely weather for you! haha.
Deletelol! thank you, thank you :)
DeleteAhh but can you tell which cat it is?
ReplyDeleteThat would truly make you a whiz
And yeah first time today
I came out of my work bay
And the car was warm
End of this crap winter and hopefully not another storm
I cannot tell by the shadow, no.
DeleteBut it was Marmy as he eventually did show
and jumped from roof to tree
right out the window in front of me!
haha acrobatics at play
DeleteMakes for an intereting display
never a dull moment here
DeleteI do fear.
ha.
Hooray for Spring! No signs of it here yet, except for the days getting longer. But, I know it's coming!
ReplyDeleteIf this keeps up, even I might get spring fever. lol.
DeleteAlmost spring here, too. Not quite there, but almost.
ReplyDeleteIt's like a little tease!
DeleteOnce the icing sugar-like snow melts ....
Deletebeautiful touches of spring and such a great quote too!
ReplyDeleteI really loved the quote...so perfect for March!
Deletewe def have plenty of buds...on the trees and in the flowers...it is a great feeling to see those signs of spring...wont be long now...
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're further along than we are. I don't see any buds on trees yet!
DeleteWe had the frigid wind today, 32º with a wind chill of 14º. I stayed inside and kept the fire going. My snowdrops are shivering outside in the cold.
ReplyDeleteShould have made a pie (for Pi Day) but didn't think we needed the extra calories, and it was the first year I remembered.
I really should plant some snowdrops. I think they are so beautiful. All of my bulb flowers have died off except for the daffodils. I need some tulips and hyacinths, too! Should have thought of that last fall, I guess!
DeleteSorry to bud in here...
DeleteIf you buy the bulbs in a pot, you can just plant them right in the ground [when workable] in the Spring...and you have a ready-made Spring display!!
I saw a few daffodils myself today, when I crept out to fill the feeders...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
bud in? hahahaha. :)
Deletewell now, that's really good to know! I'll have to take a look at the pretty blooms in the stores!
Yes Betsy Spring is almost there and here will arrive the autumn!!
ReplyDeletelucky you with the colors turning! Have you seen any yet or is it too early still?
DeleteHappy Friday dear Betsy.;) Enjoy your spring, our seems to have reverted to winter, in fact a major blizzard is expected to hit us early next week, yikes. I am like you btw, I love my heated seats and I too crank up the heat all the way on my long commutes.;) The only sign of the spring here so far is the increased light.;)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend,
xoxo
It's still early for spring, in my opinion. I know everyone is excited, but we aren't done with the cold weather yet...at least not here in Ohio!
DeleteSpring is so taking its time appearing but I'm glad it's happening! Yay! Take care
ReplyDeletex
It's coming...slowly but surely! :)
DeleteNot fair! Daffodils...already? Our ground is snow covered and rock solid ice. A friend said they saw a robin, I will believe it when I see it! The longer light in the evening IS heavenly!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm not getting myself too excited yet...we can have snow in April! But the first little signs are emerging!
DeleteLoved the way you did the collage, and great quote by Dickens!
ReplyDeleteYou aren't the only one good at collages, you know. :)
DeleteAnd, I'll have you know that Dickens himself reads my blog! He actually left a comment once!
Come to think of it, Dickens has silver hair...and a silver beard. Hey, wait a minute! lol...
Delete...but no cape...
ReplyDeleteha! true.
DeleteYay for spring! That is a great quote by Dickens...so true.
ReplyDeleteIt's on it's way! So, what's it like where you are? More springy than here, I'm guessing. Your spring if probably like our summer. ha.
DeleteNever really noticed the shadows! Happy Spring as it comes in!
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking it's just teasing us, though! haha....keep your mittens handy!
