The Gardner

The Mister took a very a-typical day off from work today
and spent it outside in the yard!
It was like having a hired hand!
I payed him with fresh baked apple turnovers for dessert.

  1. Looks like lots of work! I'd say he deserved the turnover. :)

  2. Great pic! The leaves are so beautiful! Looks like the Mister has his work cut out for him. But I bet it was worth it to enjoy the apple turnovers. That sounds good about now with the tea we are having : )

    2. sounds wonderful! Thank you! :) If this crazy storm doesn't interupt our life too badly I'm planning on doing some fun baking soon :)

    3. Taylor and Lauren are headed that way right now! I told them they were going the wrong direction on the wrong weekend! ha. Hope it isn't as bad as they think! Sounds terrible!

    4. definitely the wrong direction! lol - Hubby said tonight someone mentioned a possibility of up to a foot of snow after all the rain. disaster! I'm ready for snow (almost) but not really after so much rain! guess we'll cross one bridge at a time. Caramel bars are in the oven, not the same as an apple turnover, but so yummy all the same!:)

    5. caramel bars sound delish!

I love winter, but am not ready for snow. Starting in December would be wonderful~! But I want it falling in a lovely way and in a relaxed atmosphere...not with a power outage and hurricane! ha.
And if we had apple turnovers and caramel bars to nibble on while looking out the window, that would be even better! :)

Taylor and Lauren have tickets for the big football game. The Buckeyes are there tomorrow...we're going to try to find them on our TV screen. haha.

    6. haha...I've never asked the about that. But I don't think Lauren is big on football, so she probably doesn't really care. :) She'll be a football widow just like me, I'm afraid! lol...

I'm salivating over your baked potato omlettes now. ha.

    7. ha, well we can eat omelettes and other goodies while it snows and the guys are all enamored with football! haha

    1. well, he calls me "Mrs", so it fits. ha. But to his face, I guess I don't call him that...just here! lol...

  6. Those are some SERIOUS leaves! Do you (meaning the Mister) mow over and mulch them, or rake and bag?

    1. we mow and mulch! But everyone else on our street rakes and puts them on the curb for the city to pick up. They're good for the garden, I think!

      Delete
    2. At least you don't have to bag them. The next city over does curbside pickup, and I think that would be nice.

      Delete
    3. true...bagging takes a lot of time. People can rake them to the curb for pick up and they come and suck them up with a huge vacuum. I don't know where they go after that! ha.

  7. Ugg all those leaves do not look fun
Would have to rake a ton
But at least by being handy
He gets a dessert that I'm sure he finds dandy

  10. relaxed atmosphere, yes this would certainly be preferable! I should know better than to bake those bars. Maybe I'll be able to eat just one, maybe the sky won't fall this weekend! haha

Go Buckeyes! or wait, Go Penn State! haha how do they decide?

  14. My headache was gone this morning. :) After trying to catch up with my laundry and a bit of vacuuming, we headed outside to play in the leaves. I'll be doing some baking tomorrow; a couple of pies and maybe a batch of gluten free muffins.

  17. Poor man! Making him work on his day off! Tut! He should be indoors, feet up, and relaxing in front of the TV, with his devoted wife waiting on him hand a foot making sure he has everything he needs for a relaxing day. . . .

I used to tell my wife that, and do you know, she divorced me and went off with another guy. I can't imagine why.

  19. I know the Mister isn't great on getting on your blog....but it's so fun to see him from time to time....It's a perfect "Fall" picture, and I'd help him for a apple turnover.

Our cousin sent a large bag of fresh rhubarb from her garden, we packed it in the suitcase we checked and now I have cups of diced rhubarb in the freezer. She gave me a recipe for a rhubarb~raspberry coffee cake..and I'm going to try some jelly too.

I love Fall and all the things to bake... Sending love and hugs

  21. Your fall looks a little less in progress than ours. We have lost most of our leaves now. I like working in the yard in fall.

  22. LadyCat and I are fortunate to not have one leaf in our yard. We live next to a field and for the most part, there are few trees in our addition except for a good number of pines. It has been a beautiful fall and your apple turnovers, I'm sure, are an added yummy attraction. Have a great Sunday!! xo Unks!
