The theme this week at Creative Tuesdays is Paradise Island.
I tried to make my drawing look like a vintage travel poster,
including a faded, yellowed, and antique look, as if it was
from a travel agency around a century ago.
I think I'd like it here on Paradise Island...including the view,
the drink and the sweet little Cockatiel!

I'm first to visit your Paradise Island...Think I'll just stay a couple weeks, and sip on that delicious drink if Mr. Cockatie will share!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is truly a Vintage Poster and a darling drawing...so love everything about it. The palm trees are perfect, love their leaves and bark..those little boats in the background...and the pineapple love those details.
Great job...a postcard for sure!!!
Oh, a postcard! Yes, that's perfect. I want to go there, too...let's pack our bags! :)
DeleteThis came out great!! There's a new bird that I've never seen you sketch before :) Great job making the poster look vintage!! I really do love it.
ReplyDeleteI've never drawn a cockatiel before! haha. He doesn't look TOO scary, does he? lol....oh, and I have a strawberry in there, too! But no red tailed hawks! That's good! :)
DeleteHe doesn't look scary at all...in fact if he didn't have a beak and bird claws I might be tempted to give him a hug!! lol
DeleteIs that strawberry supposed to be a subliminal message??? lol
hahaha...oh, he's harmless! (the strawberry, that is!) hahahahaha.
DeleteWhat nice Paradise Island Betsy:) You now many years ago I was in a similar Island with a bird like this LOL, But I love your draw especially the pineapple drink:))

DeleteAs I was reading and enjoying your post I got a text from Alexander (mine not yours) to say he had just arrived on the island of Zanzibar where he and his friends have rented a beach hut for two weeks. Serendipity.
ReplyDeleteOh, now that is very cool! Sweet serendipity! ♫ ♫ ♫
DeleteWowzers...I am so very impressed!
ReplyDeletethanks, Grace! It was a fun one to do!
Deletebeautiful!! I love it, does look like a vintage poster, you surprised me posting this early, I'm used to seeing you post after supper, I forgot it was creative tuesday, my creative mojo up and flew the coop!
ReplyDeleteEarly? haha...no, I posted last night after supper...like always. It was a couple of hours late, in fact!
DeleteThat is great
ReplyDeleteAnd such a nice fate
I'd surely go there
And rest at it's lair
Maybe I'll find some treasure digging in the sand
Or finally break Gloria free from under the land haha
hahaha...maybe a treasure map you will find
Deleteand live out your years in riches sublime.
Whether you unbury gloria, that's up to you
she'd make you share your treasures, true!
Pfft we can leave her buried then
DeleteAs I'll share with you and your five men
But she's too nasty have been in the dirt so long
So I'll leave her there to sing a song
but Jax could shampoo her hair twice
Deleteand then she'd smell so nice!
This is just beautiful Betsy, you have really captured a vintage feel and wonderful details as usual!
ReplyDeletethanks, christine...I was hoping someone would say that! :)
DeleteExcellent, Betsy. this totally could be a psoter print. I love it. and the drink looks divine on this hot july day!
ReplyDeletegreat job!
thanks, dear. Can't wait to see what you did...totally in keeping with your summer surf theme, too! :)
DeleteBetsy, this is absolutely brilliant. I TOTALLY got it-that is was like an old word travel poster and after noting that THEN i read that was lo and behold your intent all along. I particularly enjoy the Palm tree leaves. Love how you did them. Yes, that looks like an island I'd like to lounge at for certain! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad the feel came across how I intended. I love those old posters! They are along the same lines as those old world luggage tags and stickers, which I love, too.
DeleteGoo to read how the boys handled no internet ad now mom can get her fix! :)
ReplyDeletethey really did great....
Deleteerr...good that is. lol.
ReplyDelete:) yes, I did get that.
Deleteok, one more--btw, I don't see you signed up yet? Please try again if there was any problem with the form. TY.
ReplyDeleteno problems...just haven't gotten over there yet!
DeleteOh yes, drinks in a pinapple, loving that!! And your cockatiel is delightful!! What a nice spot to sit, sip, and watch the sails drift by!
ReplyDeletethanks, dear chrisite! It certainly has a 'happy' feel to it, doesn't it?
DeleteWow! Great detail this time around!
ReplyDeleteAnd... Paradise Island, huh? That's what they called Wonder Woman's home before 1987, you sneaky li'l doll, you!
sneaky? Well, I had nothing to do with picking the theme. But nice connection there anyway. :)
DeleteFabulous idea...a vintage travel poster. I love it! Sweet cockatiel...
ReplyDeletethanks, janice...had to have the bird, you know! And a tropical one was a nice change!
DeleteIf i find the picture of me and the bird I will send you lol!
ReplyDeleteOk! That would be so much fun to see! :)
DeleteYes but onlhy for you; I remember I was scared with th bird lol
Deletehaha...you mean you won't put it on my wall for all to see??? :)
DeleteHi Betsy,
ReplyDeleteThat really does look like an authentic poster from many years ago and if you keep this up then you might get some requests for a professional art project. That would be really cool. And tropical drinks are one of the few drinks I really do enjoy. So send me over some instructions and I can make some for a party.
God bless.
aw, you're too sweet mrsu. :) thank you!
DeleteA sweet birdie complete with blush. Excellent touch.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is talented like you and can seem to draw just about anything that inspires her.
actually, they really have colored feathers in a circle on their cheeks! Kinda cute. :)
DeleteI'm so into this imaginary drink and vacation. I can feel the tradewinds gentle breeze and salt air... is sooooo sooooothing.
ReplyDeleteThe power of your drawing is amazing! :)
why thank you, daniel...glad it took you off to the tropics!
DeleteLovely! Makes me think of holidays, happiness and juicy drinks!
ReplyDeleteyes...or vacations, as we would call them! :)
DeleteYum! That is my kind of paradise! :)
ReplyDeletethanks, rita...and so nice to have you join in the fun!
DeleteThis captures everything about a paradise island Betsy. It is gorgeous and I love the huge pinapple with the cockatie sitting there. I just knew you would come up with something wonderful.
ReplyDeleteaw, thanks linda. I wondered if anyone would notice that the drink was intentionally as big as the trees! lol.
DeleteThe Coconut mug and the cockatiel are very neat, really nice and definitely belong in paradise. Really great job Betsy. Thanks
ReplyDeletethanks, fred...it was a really fun one to do!
DeleteI was just saying to hubbie that I would like some time in a tropical paradise....MINUS the short people!
ReplyDeleteOh, I know! I haven't been in a few years now and I need it!
DeleteI think I hear Jimmy Buffet singing somewhere. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you managed the vintage look perfectly and i so would love to have that drink.;)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Betsy,
