A Blog Button Drawing

The theme this week at Creative Tuesdays is 'blog button'.
We had to design one for our blog!  You know what they are, right?
You've seen them on people's blog and they say "Grab my Button!"
You post them on your sidebar with a link attached to their blog.
Some blogs have their sidebars full of them!

I guess I prefer the Blog Roll to buttons, since they tell me when you've
posted something new.  I do, however, have the buttons to the co-ops
that I have joined as a courtesy to them and to give them some exposure.

But if I were to have a button for my own blog, I imagine that it would
look like my drawing above.  A blog button is a logo of sorts,
and should reflect the name or theme of your blog.  I liked my drawing
for the 'gift' theme last week so much that I thought I'd bring back
the little Barn Swallow to carry my signature "5".

button sized :)

Mr. Toast said he's creating a new button for this co-op blog, so this may be the
last time you see this red one here!  If you want to see who participated
this week, click HERE!  Or maybe it's time you joined in?  :)

  1. I with you, I prefer the blog lists as well, I try to keep the blog buttons for the link parties visible though as well, I really like the look of a clean and neat blog but end up putting my blog list back on, I miss my friends lovely stats always visible,I think your choice is a lovely one, carrying the number five, its perfect!

    1. haha...well, my sidebar is not neat and clean, but it's my own choices, too and that means a lot to me.

I depend on my blog roll a lot! A lot of time would be wasted going to see if people had posted new if I didn't have it.

Yes, she had to have the number 5 didn't she? haha. I fooled around with the "my five men" all on there, but it didn't look right and seemed redundant.

  3. Exactly what the cat would expect
And there is no bird neglect
That surely could not come due
And the 5 goes for your crew
Except you ignore the eight cats
I guess that is what they get for leaving you rats
    Or other stuff
    Making your ocd rough

    1. could have gone a lot of different ways
      here at my bay
      with all the cats
      chasing rats and bats
      and the other animals, too
      that make up the zoo.
      Even some baking
      and artist faking (haha)
Hard to fit it all in a button size
would be easier to make a dozen pies!
      lol.

    2. Yeah that is true
Maybe for buttons you should have a few
Switch them up each day of the week
And then always something new when those come to seek

  5. Betsy, I was wondering how you woudl tie in your 5 men and you did it superbly! using the no 5 was brilliant and yes, I think the birds works great not just for CT's but all the photos of wild life you take too from your back window. REALLY great job. Very effective. you should add it to the side bar then where you link to your CT drawings if not elsewhere! TY!

    3. right...and I tried to keep that in mind when making it...not too much extra detailing and clutter that would be lost and take away from the main thought. It ended up to be a drawing I really liked..might frame it along with my 'gift'. :)

  12. You do so many fun and interesting things! I love your blog button. Did you draw that yourself?!! If you did...wow!! I see the little drawing over there on the right with the little baby birds with their beaks wide open. It is adorable. I cannot free draw at all. I, can, however, copy another drawing to look almost exactly like it...but ask me to free draw something out of my mind...impossible.

    1. well, who knew it would be a blog button lesson! lol. Unless you're a co-op, I think they are kinda silly. And I don't like the box of html underneath them...kinda ugly on your sidebar, I think.

  22. Really cool button/logo betsy. Love the pose you captured the bird in, as he's in that position where he's just finishing his descent, but at the same time starting his next ascent. Really nicely done.

  23. Yea, I knew that was a barn swallow. Seriously cute! So, is the button idea the same as a mini logo?

I had an acquaintance whose barn was overtaken by House Sparrows that pushed out the Swallows until she set traps for the HS and got rid of them. Only then did the Swallows come back.
