D is for Dandelion

We have a lawn service that rids our yard of weeds but they still are free to
pop up in the flower beds and in the vegetable garden.  But I don't mind!   I have someone who really loves to munch on them...blooms, leaves and all.  I think he's especially happy when spring comes and he gets fresh blossoms added to his dinner.

Nugget

I've joined the A to Z Challenge for the month of April!
Come back tomorrow for the letter E!

    1. so he eat these dandelion!
Pepita (our bunny that die time ago) loved lettuces!

    2. yes, he loves dandelions, clover and little pansies...and the kale and lettuces, too. :)

  2. haha I love how relaxed Nugget looks in that first one
Is he still getting along with the kitties by the ton?
I remember picking those things and getting a big hand full all built up
Then throwing them at the nearest person spilling their cup...hahaha
At least I rid the lawn of them though
That has to give me some points at my show
    Right?
At least like the cat I never did bite..haha

    1. Isn't he cute all stretched out like a cat?
I love his little rump bump when he lays like that.
Yep, still getting along just fine
      really has worked out sublime,
especially Whiskers as they chase and tease
really fun to watch. They even play Hide and Seek
in my closet and scare each other
jumping out like sister and brother.
      lol.
Throwing dandelions at whoever you please
now weren't you just a charming boy, geesh. lol.
The leaves aren't bad in a salad but can't imagine eating the blooms
that would just cause me some gloom. ha.

    2. Yeah maybe with all the cats around
He thinks he is a cat all profound
Such fun when they actually like to play
Sure it is amusing to watch at your bay
Whiskers surely has made herself at home
      There at your dome
LOL throwing them was a grand time
Of course that was before I knew I could rhyme
      Never eat them though
That is just yuck and a new low..haha

    3. Off rhyme..Whiskers is miss personality and quite at home inside with me. Love how affectionate she's become...and sits on my laptop, as you know. lol.

A few nights ago some of the cats didn't want to go outside so we let them stay in all night. I was a little worried about Nugget but thought we might as well try it. And of course they were all just fine, but I had really weird dreams about Tiger wearing an Indian chief's head-dress of feathers and dragging nugget away by the tail. lol. SUCH a weird dream! I was trying to catch up to them and they were in a maze of highway and interstate loops. Good grief...that was so strange. I was glad when I woke up. lol.

      Delete
    4. Aren't dreams funny?
      Your dream was pretty colorful.
      Sweet Dreams.

      Delete
    5. haha...that one about Tiger was SO funny. I really should look up an interpretation...at least of the head-dress. lol. The next night I dreamed Tiger caught a turkey and was twisting it's neck. lol. These were while I was off coffee...think that had something to do with it? Of course, that mean tom-cat got shot about that same time, so maybe some of that was mixed in.

I know, I know...I'm really not well. It's stress. lol.

      Delete
    6. LMAO it seems Tiger is the one you have to watch out for
Your brain is telling you that at your shore
After all he did try and eat Mr. Bird
      The little turd
Still funny where dreams can go
Even more fun when you remember everything like a maze with interstate loops..hahaha..don't you know

      Delete
    7. Yes away he ran with Mr. Bird in his teeth
that was crazy with the CHEAP, CHEAP.
      My mind must remember that
and doesn't completely trust that cat!
Why he turned into an Indian, though
I'd really like to know! hahaha.

      Delete
    8. Maybe he is your secret spirit guide
Taking you for a dream ride
      Or it could just be
A warning not to trust him at your sea

  3. I can't believe how early the dandelions sprung up this year.

Ha, that is great that you have a natural weed eater! My wife read that dandelions are healthy for people to eat so she's bought some a time or two at an organic market to mix into our green smoothies. I told her we have plenty right in our front yard but she didn't want to eat those.

    Replies
    1. they are supposed to be good for you...and the mix of greens I buy at the grocery has them in it. Can't imagine eating the blooms, though. ha.

Next time I make a smoothie, I'll have to add some greens!

  4. that bunny sure is cute! when I was a little girl I would spend a week with my grandparents in the summer and grandma would pick fresh dandelion blossoms, wash them, and roll them in flour and fry them in butter then we'd eat them in a sandwich. haha, I know thats kind of strange but I loved it! they tasted like morel mushrooms. I haven't had any in years!

    1. oh my...now I am intrigued! I love anything fried in butter...lol...

  5. Nugget looks so cute stretched out on the carpet!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Cute rabbit! My cat does the same pose, stretching on the carpet. We call it the "mullet" because he crosses his paws in front, all business, and he splays out all "party" in the back. ;)

    ReplyDelete

    1. haha...oh, that's funny. We call that the Sphynx when our cats do it.

  7. Rabbits could LAY down like that??? Wouldn't that infringe on their hopping abilities??? Hmm...it just looks unnatural and uncomfortable. LOL At least your little bunny is happy with his dandelions :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I didn't know they could lay like that either until he did it. He's quite comfy like that...probably feels good to stretch out after being in a sitting position all the time. ha. My favorite way they lay is on their side ...I'll have to get a picture some time...with his ear flopped up. lol.

    2. Awww!!! Too bad I'm allergic to bunnies or I would get myself a nugget to snuggle with :) Your nugget posts always make me smile!

    3. haha...I wonder what you'd be trying to do to him...
wash his fur clean down to his skin?

      oh strat...
      still rhyming like Pat. ha.

      Delete
    4. Geez you didn't rhyme in the respone to me
But you did for her at your tree
      Something is wrong there
      The strangeness I just can't bear..haha

      Delete
    5. haha...yeah, what is wrong with me
rhyming to everyone but thee. ha.
      but this was a short
      retort
yours was a story to tell late at night
my coffee was gone and caffeine no where in sight
      hahaha

      Delete
    6. I suppose the cat can forgive you for that
After all we wouldn't want you to go on a rhyming rant like I do sometimes at my mat

  8. awww cute little nugget...i love me some dandelions...some say they are a weed but...smiles.

  9. Aw, bunnies!!
My husband would love to get a rabbit, but our older, much beloved cat is a serious assassin, and I would be afraid for the bunny, too!

    ReplyDelete

    1. yeah...you never know...I've heard some horror stories. I think it's probably better to have the rabbit first and introduce the cat as a kitten, when its smaller than the rabbit.

  11. Betsy,
Love your photography! I will be back to visit and see what you post for the Challenge. Cute bunny! We're new to farm living and we've toyed with the idea of rabbits as pets. Hmmm.

    1. Hi Angie! Nugget is a great pet...we got him a little late (5 months old) and he had never been held, so he isn't cuddly like a pet would be if you got them young. But he's housebroken, runs loose all the time, and has lots of personality. And you can't beat that soft fur! Check on the internet..there are lots of good sites with tips for having them as pets.

  12. Oh my goodness, my post for D in the A-Z challenge is also about dandelions!

I just love all your pictures, especially the collages you've put on most posts. I've done a couple for roundups and blog hops, but had never thought of doing it for other posts. They are especially gorgeous on the black background, like a light box effect. Gorgeous!

    1. Hey, Fred. Harry Potter? haha...that's so cute. Well, Nugget was named by my oldest after the NBA team Denver Nuggets. lol. He doesn't even like that team now but the name has stayed.
