- Wound up all the clocks. Love to be home alone when it's so quiet that I can hear the clocks ticking.
- Ate some Sugar Pears for the first time. Have you tried them? They are tiny! I bought a box of them at Sams Club. They were very inexpensive and I always like to try a new fruit. Have to say, though, that I liked my good ol' standard Bartlett better. They had pear taste with a little spice/floral accent.
- Put some ivy cuttings in water to root. I'd like a hanging plant in another window and thought I'd start my own!
- Misted my pink plant, Frankie.
- Cleaned out my jewelry drawer and organized it, along with my longer, hanging necklaces.
- Noted the lovely sunshine coming in through the window blind.
- Still trying to get the last of the kittens to warm up to me. This is Charcoal. Gorgeous little boy kitty. The Mister wants to keep him and declared him his favorite. In that case, I'd really love for him to go to the clinic this Saturday. He won't let me pet him, though. I did manage to run my hand down his back this afternoon very quickly without him completely spazzing out and dashing off the porch. ha. Think I can catch him in 3 days? ha.
- Sat outside and enjoyed the weather. Cool wind, though....and very gusty. I sat in the threshold of the back door where I couldn't feel it. There aren't any bugs yet, so I just left the door open all afternoon! Enjoyed listening to the wind rustle through the trees and watched kittens run about the yard chasing leaves.
- While I dusted the furniture, I removed the Valentine's Day things from the foyer table and put out some Irish green. :)
- Hung one of my summer hats out on the back porch. A token of sorts to Mother Nature. Maybe she'll see I'd like to work in the garden and bring spring in full force? ha.
- Remember my two faux mink throws I bought at Big Lots? Well, the tags said 'dry clean only'. I didn't want to spend the money, not to mention I hate the way dry cleaned things smell when they are clean! ha. This one was dirty...it's everyone's favorite! It had some food spots on it and just smelled, well..non-fresh? I decided to try it on a delicate cycle and put it in the washer. It washed fine and even dried fine in the dryer. It looks like new! So glad I didn't take it to the cleaners!
- I noticed on my blog's sitemeter that the search was back for "broom standing on it's own"! Wow. I had forgotten about that. I suspected that the gravitational pull had returned. Or is it something more creepy? I mean, it is a full moon, afterall. :) I originally posted it about it HERE. So I got out my broom and tried it again...sure enough it stands alone. Yep, still just as creepy as it was before. haha.
A nice day of puttering.
What did you do today?
Maybe you should see if your broom will stand! ha.
Whatever you did, I hope it was wonderful!
♥
I have to clean the kitchen too!
ReplyDeletewell I cook, read, drink coffe (ha), make blueberry jam you will enjoy when you see Betsy!, feed the dogs, and ...swim:)
ReplyDeleteIm alone???? betsy!!!
ReplyDeleteOooh...you had a nice busy day, too!
DeleteGloria...see if your broom will stand up by itself!
DeleteHere Im betsy! Not your broom is magic mine is old (ha) and fall when I put in a wall ha!
DeleteAs soon as I get home from work (a- hem) I will try this, again.
DeleteI did it last time. Freaky!
Yeah, it is freaky! And it gave me the same creepy feeling this time! The Mister is on his way home and I'm going to stand one up for him to see. lol.
DeleteHome now and I just did it. FREAKY!
DeleteIsn't it?? haha...clear across the country and it still does it. I really want Gloria to try (she's in Chile) but she won't! I think she believes I'm trying to play a trick.
DeleteChristine ~ I stood the broom back up in the kitchen and The Mister walked right by it and didn't even notice! ha.
DeleteI ate grapes and greek yougurt with blueberries jam! this was my lunch Betsy!
ReplyDeletethat lunch sounds wonderful! yum! I still haven't tried greek yogurt yet!
DeleteAnd is all Betsy I think I talk so much today!! (lol)
ReplyDeleteno you don't...I just left a minute to start dinner! :)
DeleteI understand Betsy but I think I talked so much dear:(
DeleteNo you don't! I like you being chatty. :) My laptop is in the kitchen so I comment and then leave for a bit...and come back. It's dinner time here, so I am getting that ready. I wish I had some of your blueberry jam!
Deleteoh What nice you have you laptop at the kitchen!! Mine is small Icant made this :) But I same similar more later sometimes I made the dinner and come to the computer
Deleteyes, I have a desk here in the kitchen. It does make it easy to check emails and blogs while I'm working. It is supposed to be a breakfast nook but I put a desk there instead. And like you have your dog with his head on your knee, I might have a kitten laying on my arms. lol.
DeleteYay for Charcoal!! Hope you catch him to take to the vets soon! Yay!
ReplyDeleteI have used the gentle cycle for dry clean only and that works just fine!
The broom thing sounds weird! LOL! Definitely full moon!
Take care
x
well, it doesn't work on every full moon...and when it does work, it lasts for weeks!
DeleteSounds like a lovely day - I could do with a day when I could open the doors and widows. It's too cold here yet. I agree with you about washing 'dry-clean only' things. Washing machines cycles are so gentle now that in my experience most things come out fine - even my smartest grey trousers.
ReplyDeleteI have another throw like that in dark brown. I'm going to wash it tomorrow! yay! ha.
DeleteI love puttering....is that kinda like piddling?
ReplyDeletehaha..yes! I think they are the same. Whatever you call it, I love it...a relaxing way to get things done. :)
DeleteNope to the broom...ha, maybe my floors are too dirty! Looks like a nice early spring day there, we had a little snow this morning but it's shaping up to be a sunny, cold afternoon. Winter/Spring make up your mind!
ReplyDeleteHi, Joanne! :) No broom standing for you? Now, what's up with that? ha.
DeleteHey...Christine is in WA and her's is standing! Tell yours to get with it!
Deletehad my first (routine) mammogram ever. hoping for good news! :) did some laundry and made a dash into Wal-Mart and Home Depot and visited my hubby at work :)oh and cooked supper, of course! they would all wither if I wouldn't :) meatloaf, seasoned roasted garlicky potatoes and steamed broccoli and salad. hope they stay satisfied. ha your day sounds delightfully cheerful and calming! love the sunny pictures
ReplyDeletefirst ever mammogram...oh how fun for you! hahaha. :) You had a nice day! Dinner sounds wonderful. Tomorrow is my day to be out and about. :)
Deletehahaha, indeed! hope you have a great day tomorrow!
Deleteit's supposed to rain! ...it always rains when I go to the grocery! Sigh.
Deletewell you can come grocery shop here. haha. it's supposed to be warmer (high 60's) than today! super excited!
Deleteyeah, that's because Ohio's Wednesday weather will be there with you tomorrow! ha. But wait until Friday and you'll get my Thursday rain! :)
DeleteYou got a lot accomplished...I did about half of what you did. Laziness prevails, though I did manage a load of wash and some vacuuming. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to be lazy once in a while! Maybe Friday I can be lazy! ha.
Delete8. Very nice way to illustrate a windy day.
ReplyDelete12. That freakin' broom is haunted. Very much.
you should have heard those windchimes! ha.
Deleteso, is your broom haunted, too?
I think it is, but in a different way. Sometimes I'll lean it against the wall and it'll fall down as soon as I turn my back!
Deletesilly...
DeleteI'm serious!
Deletejust tell me if it can stand or it's own or not. have you ever tried it?
DeleteNo, it can't. That was my point. It won't even stay up when other brooms would!
DeleteWhy do I get the feeling you haven't really left your chair to try it? ;)
DeleteWell, as fate would have it, it's actually in my room, five feet away... so I really did walk over and tried standing it up to see if this full moon thing would work. It didn't.
DeleteOK. But it isn't a full moon thing. The brooms will stand for several weeks...no matter what phase the moon is in.
DeleteOh. Some of the other comments made me think it was a full moon thing.
DeleteI'll bet there are a lot of variables determining whether a broom will stand.
It only happens during a certain part of the year, I guess, and last several weeks. The first time I posted about it, it was November 2009, so it can change seasons. ha. I guess it's a mystery...some say it's a gravitational pull and some claim it's paranormal. Whatever it is, it's interesting!
DeleteDid a little shopping. Cleaned my bathroom. Made supper. Changed about 16 diapers. :) Homeschooled. Did three loads of laundry. etc. etc. etc. Creepy broom. I wish mine would sweep on it's own.
ReplyDeleteBusy! I had four in diapers at once. Some days I felt like that's all I did. lol.
Deletenice hat...we need a pic of you in it now...smiles...i like the necklace...i washed dishes, made the beds, ran to the store, vacuumed, went to work and hiked several miles with a kid...now home to play basketball with my own...
ReplyDeleteI might me able to do that. :)
DeleteHey...look at you and the housework. I'm impressed, but not surprised! Enjoy your evening with the TLC. :)
I took care of grandkids and then did some errands after they went back to their moms.
ReplyDeletemaybe I will go check out my broom, and I will take a picture if it does stand, but I don't think it will, wonder if that is one those things that you have to have faith it will happen for it to happen.
"Oh ye of little faith!" hahaha. OH, no...I didn't think it would happen at all. And then when it did stand, I got goosebumps! lol.
DeleteSlept in, wrote, wrote some more and lurked at work
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice perk..haha
Gave the cats attention throughout it all
I know that's obvious at my hall..haha
Charcoal that is a new name isn't it?
Or am I just forgetting a bit
He is a very cute little guy
Just oh so shy
A standing broom
That may spell doom
Mine can't do that
But it can scare the cat..haha
LOL you didn't get taken to the cleaners either at your bay
Get it? Okay I've had my say
You wrote and wrote so we can read and read?
DeleteThanks for the warning so we'll take heed! ha.
Yes, Charcoal and his twin sis Grey.
Need to catch both at my bay.
She is lighter grey with very faint stripes
and he is darker and a very handsome little guy.
No standing broom for you?
But did you try it a time or two?
It isn't just me...
people around the world are letting their brooms go free!
lol...
Nice you got to sleep in
after doing the Flappy stint.
Yep wrote and wrote at my sea
DeleteNow 35 posts ahead with glee..haha
Only have a couple days to catch them all
Maybe you should stick the food in the cages at your hall
Then when they go in slam them shut
And capture them up in their little cage hut
LOL it's a broom paranormal extravaganza going around
Mine doesn't like being so profound..haha
Yeah just a tons of nuts tonight
That yapped and yapped and yapped until I turned off the light
I think they are too smart for that cage trick
Deletethey would probably run and not give one lick!
You should have gone in and stood a broom on it's tip
then they would have run away and stopped flapping their lips! ha.
LOL hmmm you never know
DeleteThat could have worked at my work show
Or they could have just flapped about that
And further annoyed Pat
True they prob won't fall for it
Maybe catch them the night before as they sit
And have them all ready to go
For their snip snip show
Yes, I think catching them the night before
Deleteis a good plan on my shore.
But The Mister is not wanting to hear them howl all night
as they sit in their carriers with fright.
Might have to put them in the garage
poor things will think the good life was just a mirage!
lol.
I have to work an auction on Saturday, too.
Already told them I'd be late for the work crew.
What a stressful day
it will be at my bay. :(
Listening to them howl would be no fun
DeleteAs they think their freedom is done
But at least
They won't be able to bring forth any more furry beast
Leave that to the daddy cat
Who really like the humpty hump at your mat..haha
Must be a vortex in your kitchen keeping that broom upright. I was quite the slug compared to everyone else today. I'll have to make up for it tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteA vortex you say? haha...well it stands anywhere in my home! lol. I hope the whole house doesn't get sucked into it! :)
DeleteNo, seriously, it's happening all over the world...you should try it!
That sixty degrees plus weather showed up here today, so we enjoyed some time out in the yard. I was blessed by no cold lake breeze blowing off Lake Ontario. Ben and Hannah cleaned the back porch and restacked what's left of our firewood.
ReplyDeleteI'd like a broom that could not only stand by itself, but sweep the floor as well, like in Fantasia. :)
beautifull weather and time in the yard...and kids doing chores. It doesn't get any better than that!
DeleteMy broom just stood there...no sweeping at all! ha.
Took a picture of my standing broom. Crazy!
ReplyDeletehaha! It's a really weird feeling to see it standing there, don't you agree? Glad I'm not the only spot in town that can do it! lol. So nice to see you here, too! :)
DeleteI've never tried those pears before, but now I want to! I'm all about things that are tiny :)
ReplyDeleteAnd about your broom? Creepy!! I think it's haunted. Just sayin...
Get your broom out, Jax! I want to know if it works in NYC :)
Deletelol Now I'm going to have to test it...I'll let you know. haha
DeleteOK...don't get itchy knees if it stands up! lol...
DeleteItchy knees are for fleas..haha
DeleteOh, sorry. :) I knew it was fleas but thought it was also for anything that gave Jax the creeps!
Deletehappy women day dear Betsy!!!
ReplyDeletewe are amazing. didn`t? ? lol!!
We are SUPER amazing, Gloria! :)
Deleteim agree!!
Deletelol. How are you this morning? It's pouring rain here and I'm going to the grocery. It always rains on grocery day! haha.
DeleteI was to the grocery too I havent some things and for these days the twins come to lunch early, I make fry fish with salads and boutgh others: you know I dont drive ( some years ago yes) but have a friend who has a taxi and call him to ride until there to retun I come in bus (lol) with all my bags (ha!)
DeleteThose pears are SOOO cute! We are gearing up here for outdoor fun too...I am SO EAGER to get gardening! Charcoal is SOOOOO pretty! Would be nice to catch him.
ReplyDeleteAs for the broom. Freaky THEN, Freaky NOW. :)
Isn't he beautiful!? Had to laugh that The Mister wanted to keep him...as if we needed any more around here. :)
DeleteOk that broom thing is freaky! I've never heard of sugar pears, will have to check that out...I love new fruits. Have a great week-end!
ReplyDeleteDid you try the broom? I'd love to know if it works for you!
Deletelol@the broom ha.You know i can never grow Ivy.I know what your thinking, lol its easy to grow .Not for me,I can grow anything but Ivy ha.reminds me of beyonce's new babies name/Im not a fan of hers but just thought of it.I think its Ivy Blue hah.
ReplyDeleteAnyway on to more important stuff lol. Love the little kitty hes a cutie.I think the Mister peeked a good one.Oh and sugar pears oh my they are sooo good.Too bad you couldnt pass one through LOL.
Well, I'll let you know if my cuttings grow roots. ha.
DeleteI ate the last sugar pears, or I would gladly share! :)
"picked" lol cant spell today Betsy my brain is done for the day.
ReplyDeleteYou do way too much!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a constructive day, Betsy! The broom reminds me if the one in Disney's Cinderella! Bippity boopity boo! :) (Hope I have the right movie as it's been awhile...lol!)
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, love that kitty and the name, Charcoal.;) The broom thing is amazing, could it be the solar flares and storms, they have caused some magnetic storms.;))
ReplyDeletexoxo
