What I Did Wednesday #23

  1. Wound up all the clocks.  Love to be home alone when it's so quiet that I can hear the clocks ticking.
  2. Ate some Sugar Pears for the first time.  Have you tried them?  They are tiny!  I bought a box of them at Sams Club.  They were very inexpensive and I always like to try a new fruit.  Have to say, though, that I liked my good ol' standard Bartlett better.  They had pear taste with a little spice/floral accent.
  3. Put some ivy cuttings in water to root.  I'd like a hanging plant in another window and thought I'd start my own!
  4. Misted my pink plant, Frankie.
  5. Cleaned out my jewelry drawer and organized it, along with my longer, hanging necklaces.
  6. Noted the lovely sunshine coming in through the window blind.
  7. Still trying to get the last of the kittens to warm up to me.  This is Charcoal.  Gorgeous little boy kitty.  The Mister wants to keep him and declared him his favorite.  In that case, I'd really love for him to go to the clinic this Saturday.  He won't let me pet him, though.  I did manage to run my hand down his back this afternoon very quickly without him completely spazzing out and dashing off the porch. ha. Think I can catch him in 3 days?  ha.
  8. Sat outside and enjoyed the weather.  Cool wind, though....and very gusty.  I sat in the threshold of the back door where I couldn't feel it.  There aren't any bugs yet, so I just left the door open all afternoon!  Enjoyed listening to the wind rustle through the trees and watched kittens run about the yard chasing leaves.
  9. While I dusted the furniture, I removed the Valentine's Day things from the foyer table and put out some Irish green. :)
  10. Hung one of my summer hats out on the back porch.  A token of sorts to Mother Nature.  Maybe she'll see I'd like to work in the garden and bring spring in full force?  ha.
  11. Remember my two faux mink throws I bought at Big Lots?  Well, the tags said 'dry clean only'.  I didn't want to spend the money, not to mention I hate the way dry cleaned things smell when they are clean! ha.  This one was dirty...it's everyone's favorite!  It had some food spots on it and just smelled, well..non-fresh?  I decided to try it on a delicate cycle and put it in the washer.  It washed fine and even dried fine in the dryer.  It looks like new!  So glad I didn't take it to the cleaners!
  12. I noticed on my blog's sitemeter that the search was back for "broom standing on it's own"!  Wow.  I had forgotten about that.  I suspected that the gravitational pull had returned.  Or is it something more creepy?  I mean, it is a full moon, afterall. :) I originally posted it about it HERE.  So I got out my broom and tried it again...sure enough it stands alone.  Yep, still just as creepy as it was before. haha.

A nice day of puttering.
What did you do today?
Maybe you should see if your broom will stand! ha.
Whatever you did, I hope it was wonderful!

    5. Yeah, it is freaky! And it gave me the same creepy feeling this time! The Mister is on his way home and I'm going to stand one up for him to see. lol.

    5. yes, I have a desk here in the kitchen. It does make it easy to check emails and blogs while I'm working. It is supposed to be a breakfast nook but I put a desk there instead. And like you have your dog with his head on your knee, I might have a kitten laying on my arms. lol.

  5. Yay for Charcoal!! Hope you catch him to take to the vets soon! Yay!

I have used the gentle cycle for dry clean only and that works just fine!

The broom thing sounds weird! LOL! Definitely full moon!

    Take care

  6. Sounds like a lovely day - I could do with a day when I could open the doors and widows. It's too cold here yet. I agree with you about washing 'dry-clean only' things. Washing machines cycles are so gentle now that in my experience most things come out fine - even my smartest grey trousers.

  10. You got a lot accomplished...I did about half of what you did. Laziness prevails, though I did manage a load of wash and some vacuuming. Ugh.

  11. 8. Very nice way to illustrate a windy day.

    12. That freakin' broom is haunted. Very much.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. you should have heard those windchimes! ha.

so, is your broom haunted, too?

      Delete
    2. I think it is, but in a different way. Sometimes I'll lean it against the wall and it'll fall down as soon as I turn my back!

      Delete
    3. just tell me if it can stand or it's own or not. have you ever tried it?

      Delete
    4. No, it can't. That was my point. It won't even stay up when other brooms would!

      Delete
    5. Why do I get the feeling you haven't really left your chair to try it? ;)

      Delete
    6. Well, as fate would have it, it's actually in my room, five feet away... so I really did walk over and tried standing it up to see if this full moon thing would work. It didn't.

      Delete
    7. OK. But it isn't a full moon thing. The brooms will stand for several weeks...no matter what phase the moon is in.

      Delete
    8. Oh. Some of the other comments made me think it was a full moon thing.

I'll bet there are a lot of variables determining whether a broom will stand.

      Delete
    9. It only happens during a certain part of the year, I guess, and last several weeks. The first time I posted about it, it was November 2009, so it can change seasons. ha. I guess it's a mystery...some say it's a gravitational pull and some claim it's paranormal. Whatever it is, it's interesting!

  12. Did a little shopping. Cleaned my bathroom. Made supper. Changed about 16 diapers. :) Homeschooled. Did three loads of laundry. etc. etc. etc. Creepy broom. I wish mine would sweep on it's own.

  14. I took care of grandkids and then did some errands after they went back to their moms.
maybe I will go check out my broom, and I will take a picture if it does stand, but I don't think it will, wonder if that is one those things that you have to have faith it will happen for it to happen.

    ReplyDelete

    1. "Oh ye of little faith!" hahaha. OH, no...I didn't think it would happen at all. And then when it did stand, I got goosebumps! lol.

  15. Slept in, wrote, wrote some more and lurked at work
    Such a nice perk..haha
Gave the cats attention throughout it all
    I know that's obvious at my hall..haha
Charcoal that is a new name isn't it?
Or am I just forgetting a bit
He is a very cute little guy
    Just oh so shy
    A standing broom
    That may spell doom
    Mine can't do that
But it can scare the cat..haha
LOL you didn't get taken to the cleaners either at your bay
Get it? Okay I've had my say

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You wrote and wrote so we can read and read?
Thanks for the warning so we'll take heed! ha.

Yes, Charcoal and his twin sis Grey.
Need to catch both at my bay.
She is lighter grey with very faint stripes
and he is darker and a very handsome little guy.

      No standing broom for you?
But did you try it a time or two?
      It isn't just me...
people around the world are letting their brooms go free!
      lol...

Nice you got to sleep in
      after doing the Flappy stint.

      Delete
    2. Yep wrote and wrote at my sea
Now 35 posts ahead with glee..haha
Only have a couple days to catch them all
Maybe you should stick the food in the cages at your hall
Then when they go in slam them shut
And capture them up in their little cage hut
LOL it's a broom paranormal extravaganza going around
Mine doesn't like being so profound..haha
Yeah just a tons of nuts tonight
That yapped and yapped and yapped until I turned off the light

      Delete
    3. I think they are too smart for that cage trick
they would probably run and not give one lick!

You should have gone in and stood a broom on it's tip
then they would have run away and stopped flapping their lips! ha.

      Delete
    4. LOL hmmm you never know
That could have worked at my work show
Or they could have just flapped about that
      And further annoyed Pat

True they prob won't fall for it
Maybe catch them the night before as they sit
And have them all ready to go
      For their snip snip show

      Delete
    5. Yes, I think catching them the night before
is a good plan on my shore.
But The Mister is not wanting to hear them howl all night
as they sit in their carriers with fright.
Might have to put them in the garage
poor things will think the good life was just a mirage!
      lol.
I have to work an auction on Saturday, too.
Already told them I'd be late for the work crew.
      What a stressful day
it will be at my bay. :(

      Delete
    6. Listening to them howl would be no fun
As they think their freedom is done
      But at least
They won't be able to bring forth any more furry beast
Leave that to the daddy cat
Who really like the humpty hump at your mat..haha

  16. Must be a vortex in your kitchen keeping that broom upright. I was quite the slug compared to everyone else today. I'll have to make up for it tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete

    1. A vortex you say? haha...well it stands anywhere in my home! lol. I hope the whole house doesn't get sucked into it! :)

  17. That sixty degrees plus weather showed up here today, so we enjoyed some time out in the yard. I was blessed by no cold lake breeze blowing off Lake Ontario. Ben and Hannah cleaned the back porch and restacked what's left of our firewood.

I'd like a broom that could not only stand by itself, but sweep the floor as well, like in Fantasia. :)
