I worked an auction today and pulled into our little village this evening and snapped this photo. This is approaching the main intersection of town and one of three stop lights.
That's the old opera house you see there at the intersection.
Looks a bit like Mayberry, doesn't it?
The clouds were amazing this evening, too!
♥
I think Mayberry's bigger, actually...
ReplyDeletehaha...you may be right!
DeleteIt looks perfect! We have only 3 stop lights in our town as well.
ReplyDeletereally? It's nice that way, isn't it?
DeleteNothing like a small town!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHi, stranger. ha. Do you like out in the country or in town? The chickens make me guess it's in the country. :)
DeleteI lived in the city during college, and HATED it! I love the country. We live about 3 miles from a smallish town. Three traffic lights there too!
DeleteI've lived in both and love both for different reasons. But the quiet uncrowded village does have it's advantages. And we aren't far away from the bigger cities.
Deletelook really nice Betsy, I love the clouds, love to see them!
ReplyDeletethanks, gloria! How was your day?
DeleteHi Betsy I cant answer before had porblems with my cel, I was iron when I comment you, (sigh!) was a hard day, not lap, not swim, you know sometimes Saturdays are more hard than other days and the kids are OK but have pain still!"
DeleteI think Saturdays can be the hardest, too! Everyone is at home...it makes the day more complicated, shall we say? ha. But chores still must be done!
DeleteDid you see any faces in your iron? lol.
Thanks God No Betsy these things scared me lol
Deletewhat? No monkeys in your bananas either? lol.
DeleteNope. The kids will have dental braces (this the name?) I dont remember yesterday the name in english, and they have a little surgery before for this have a little pain still
Deleteyes, braces. You'll need lots of Advil. But their smiles will look beautiful when they are done! At least they get to do it together!
DeleteReally they wanted Betsy! and is so cost you know! (lol) but is nice for them I think the poor Esperanza was so bad yesterday.
Deleteah Esperanza taked some pictures to her toes when paint her nails lol, she is ready !
They will be glad they have beautiful smiles the rest of their lives. Taylor had braces ....his teeth were so crooked and now they are so nice.
DeleteOh, tell Esperanza I can't wait! I need to do my own sometime this week!
OK dear I have to iron again, night:)
Deletenight! xo
DeleteWe used to live in a small town. Until the northerners starting moving south. :)
ReplyDeletehaha...well, that happens sometimes. Your small town must have been charming and irresistible! :)
Deletehooray for small town America! :)
ReplyDeleteit is charming, isn't it?
DeleteI love Mayberry! Our little town has just one stop light on Main Street, and another down the block at the main highway. I like little towns.
ReplyDeleteThere's a town about 20 minutes from mine that is so small, it has no stop lights, and only one stop sign!
DeleteOh, yeah? Well... :)
DeleteSilver, I grew up in a town like that! One gas station, one grocery, one restaurant, one hardware. It was wonderful!! :)
DeleteWhen we moved here 25 years ago, this was one of two or three "dry" towns left in NY state. It remains very much a small town and I like it that way.
Deletewe're still dry. :)
Deleteyeah, they ever have opera at the opera house? smiles...
ReplyDeletedo they give your cops bullets that is the question....
If they do, Brian, I'll bet it's only one at a time!
Deleteactually, there are regular performances at the opera house. They have an annual schedule...I think it's a monthly performance...not necessarily opera but a variety of stuff! :)
Deleteyes, they have bullets BUT a few are SO obese they would never catch a criminal on foot. lol...
LOL I like your twins questions too
ReplyDeleteAnswers should come due..haha
I'll take small towns over this concrete crap anyday
Kind of miss the small town feel stuck in this bay
But never going back to mine
As it is no longer divine
Basically retirement town now
As all have left and taken a bow
May make fun of Mayberry from time to time
But living in one like it wouldn't be such a crime
yeah but you have water all around
Deletewhich I would love more than any town
I'd have to see it every day
would feel like vacation at your bay
the university here keeps the place young
and we aren't far away from concrete if we want that fun
ha.
Technically not all around here
DeleteBut it is pretty near
Only an hour or so away
Which is nice to have I will say
Concrete is fun to go to
But only for a visit to come due
After that I'd like to leave the place
And have a more open space
Maybe when you get to add the dog to your crew
Deleteyou'll have to expand your view
Bush #3 will turn into Forest #4
with more room to roam outside your door!
That will be the only way a dog comes due
DeleteFor can't add one to the crew
If stuck in a crummy apartment like this
Either way it will be fun to watch the cats hiss..haha
VERY nice Betsy. I sure hope to see it for myself some day. =) I'm home now and really tired...but a good tired. I'll sleep good in my own bed tonight...=) Keep in touch Friend. XO
ReplyDeleteyes, some day! :) Hope you relax this weekend!
DeleteI'm enjoying small town life.
ReplyDeleteIt's so much more laid back.
Three stop lights?
Now that's really laid back!
and the small cabin life? :)
DeleteAnything that looks like Mayberry is good! We had beautiful clouds here too. Betsy, thank you for your comments about my sweet dog Buster too.
ReplyDeleteI was even thinking about Buster today!
DeleteLovely building! What is it now? Is it still an opera house?
ReplyDeleteTake care
x
yes, still!
DeleteBetsy I made bread do you want a piece...?
ReplyDeleteof course, I do! :)
DeleteYes, it does look like Mayberry. I love that song by Rascal Flatts, "I Miss Mayberry".
ReplyDeletehaha..ok...tapping my toes now!
DeleteI don't know much modern country music. Only thing I know by Rascal Flatts is "I Melt." Love that song!
DeleteNo, I'd never take you for a country music fan. ha.
DeleteHi Betsy, I'm here via the A-Z Challenge. I've been poking around and checking out some of the other participants, and I'm totally captivated by the way you tell your life through photographs. Your blog is beautifully laid out and a pleasure to visit.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, your village does look like Mayberry. It's reassuring to know that such places exist and that the entirety of North America hasn't been consumed by strip malls and general uglification. :)
Hi Kern! Thanks so much for the visit! I'm looking forward to the challenge. This will be my first time participating! Thanks for your nice comment here! :)
DeleteAwwww...I miss home!! Take a pic of your street too!! lol...hope to come that way in July!! In time to smell a new baby girl..lol...cant wait!! I agree nothing like a small town!!
ReplyDeleteJuly? We were just wondering the other day when baby was coming. :)
DeleteHey..you have the ocean. I'm jealous!
By the way, Orson wants to participate in your Pedicure Party!
ReplyDeleteNo kidding? Wants to give Orlin a little competition? ha. That will be great...can't wait to see his claws.
DeleteHe asked me if I'd buy him some nail polish!!!
DeleteI had to look Mayberry up! So I gather this kind of little town is repeated across the States. It looks really nice to me.
ReplyDeleteyes, you gathered correctly...and it is really nice! Very quaint and charming. :)
DeleteI adore our small town life!
