Sets of Twins and a Cat Family Update

I was noticing that there are a few sets of twins in these two litters of cats.
Either in pattern or in color!

Tiger and Marmalade (boys).

Whiskers (girl) and Mustache (boy).

Socks and Charcoal (boys)
Notice how talented Socks is?  He can play with a fish in his mouth
and a mouse with his tail all at the same time! ha.

and newly named Oreo (girl) and Domino (boy).

that leaves Grey!

She's a combination of all of them, I guess!

We've had some major drama with the tomcat who I believe is the dad of all these kittens.
He has turned violent and attacks the them! Mustache and Marmalade have almost lost their tails! I'm not exaggerating! Yes, actual bloodshed, wounds and terror!! It's been awful! He's not just being a pest. He's hurting them!  He crawls through our fence and they all run for cover!  Mustache ran for his life and was gone 8 days.  He returned last night skinny and starving.  We thought he was dead! He had just eaten and that tomcat came into the yard and made a beeline straight for Mustache.  So Mustache ran off again and hasn't return yet.  After about a dozen attacks up on our porch he's left me no choice and I've borrowed a pellet gun and have it loaded and waiting. I've never hurt an animal in my life and you know I love them but he's left me no choice. He's out to kill and I can't let that happen. I practiced last night in the back yard and could hit a soda can in the dark, so I think I'm ready. lol.
And wouldn't you know he wasn't around all day? I swear they are all mind-readers.
He would be wise never to return.

The mother cat of the first litter is due again any day now.
She has begun to eat more often on my porch and I even got her
to come into the kitchen! She still wouldn't let me touch her but
I'm hopeful to be able to catch her eventually and have her spayed.
I wonder how many sets of twins will be in this next group!
Maybe some pretty tortoise-shell like she is!
Isn't she huge? I was big like that carrying my triplets.
I told her I knew just how she felt. :)

  1. It's a male thing, he's getting rid of his competition. That or it could be he really isn't the daddy and he knows it. Male felines are know to kill those that aren't their offspring.

    1. I'm pretty sure they all belong to him through two moms. They all have his markings and not their mothers!

    2. I have heard both those things too. He should be castrated! haha

    1. yes, he does...but we haven't had any luck with a trap and he isn't friendly. If I wait any longer, he's going to kill one...or someone told me they bite of the tails of their competition.

  7. hahaha you know where Tiger's interest lies
    With the one who flies
They do look a lot a like indeed
    And making them bleed?
Not even the raccoon did that
    Not a very nice cat
Now you can ward off trespassers too
Remind me never to sneak up on you
Might get a pellet in the butt
But at least you have aim at your hut
Either way I guess they will be spayed
For no daddy around and they can't get ummm laid..haha
Sure in a fews days or so
You and your twins and new kitties will top that other show
    Only need three
And you win at your tree

    1. yep, you know what Tiger's looking at
      as he's inside my mat.
Mr. Bird will yell Cheap Cheap
again if he tries to enter in!

I wouldn't shoot you dear Pat
well, maybe with Taylor's nerf gun you'd go splat.
      ha.

      Only three more you say?
The the crown will be at my bay.
I wonder how many she'll have this time
Hope it isn't eight or nine.
      lol.

I need Mustache to come back
so I can help him get his health back
      Marmy's tail is healing alright
but he's been here for neosporin each night
and a kiss on the head
      before he goes to bed.
      lol.

      Delete
    2. LOL the nerf might be too much the handle though
It could hit me in the toe..haha
I'm sure there will be a bunch
As that is an easy hunch
      And you will win
      There at your bin
      Have fun with that
I'll stick with Cassie and the cat

Hopefully he comes back all safe and sound
Marmy's tail now a little less round
Think it will grow back into place
Or does he now have a permanent tail disgrace

      Delete
    3. are you there now at that other lair
with the thirteen cats and all that hair?

No permanent damage to the tails
just a 3 inch section with gashes and no hair
really bad down to the bone.
to see it would make you groan.

      Be nice to me
or I'll send you a box of kitties
      even send it C.O.D.
      lol.

      Delete
    4. No not at the other lair
      Just here with my pair
And that be twelve at the other place
Unless you count the weiner pooch in that 13th space..haha

He does deserve a good shot for that
      What a mean cat
I'll mark return to sender on it
And you'll have them back in a bit

      LOL chicken nuggets can sing
I never knew such a thing

  8. The cats are all so cute and there does seem to be a twin streak running through them!. Sounds like the Dad cat is dangerous. It would be hard to use that pellet gun, but you do what you have to do!

    1. I know..I couldn't sleep last night thinking I might use it today. It would be hard, but I would do it if he was killing a kitten. Geesh!

  9. Ive heard of male cats doing this, I guess their real animal instincts come out sometimes, when the kitten reach maturity the older males do feel threatened, scary for you and the kittens, hard to imagine your own father turning on you but I think its common.Hopefully he'll hit the road and leave them alone, your mama cat thats due looks just like one I had, she was a great mama, she had three litters a year.My poor parents were constantly finding home for kittens and we lived on a farm! Even farms can only handle so many, back then one didn't take barn cats in to be spayed thankgoodnes we do now.Good luck on your hunt

    1. This one is such a good mama, too. It was fun last spring watching her care for the kittens. I loved the front row seat I had to her nursing and washing them, she taught them how to hunt, etc. She nursed them for about 6 months! And she tucked them under our steps at night (just a small place to get in so was really safe) and she slept on top of the step. So clever.

    2. Love this story about Mama Cat!

      Delete
    3. Oh Christine...she was SUCH a good mom...and completely wild. I remember one time watching out the window as she climbed high in a tree. The kittens surrounded the trunk and looked up watching. Minutes later she climbed down with a birds egg in her mouth! She was so resourceful! The only bad thing was that she taught them to be wary of us, which made it harder to befriend them. But we eventually won them over and they never left.

  10. Betsy, you're a magnet for multiples! They're such pretty kittens. I hope you never see the tomcat again. As for Mama kitty... I wonder if she's expecting you to adopt this litter...

  19. HI Betsy...
Sorry to hear about the Cat Bully. It's got to be difficult to be preparing to shoot him with a pellet gun, but you are right...it's gotta be done.

Maybe you can find a cat DART GUN with the tip of dart dipped in a nice Kitty Calming Cocktail of some sort...a Feline type of Thorazine maybe ??? lololol

    Oh well.

Hope it works out for you.

Meanwhile... let us know when Momma Cat has those babies.
I am eager to see photo's of them.

I'm against cruelty to animals, too, but this is a case of protecting many by going after the mean ol' s.o.b.! Do whatcha gotta do, doll! Run 'im over with your SUV if you gotta!

Betsy, I don't blame you one bit about shooting that mean tomcat. I am like you, I could never hurt an animal...but he is more than a pest. He is a terror. He needs to be locked up.
OOH It upsets me. (Socks looks just like our little Miss Indianapolis that we had to put to sleep last May).

    1. Oh Kim, it is so funny.. We named sock because of his hind legs, of course, but he has developed quite a foot fetish! Well, only my feet to be exact. He attacks and pulls on my socks and if I'm barefoot, he licks my toes! lol. What a cutie.

Yes, I'm SO upset about this dad. I've yelled and tried to whack him with a broom but that only lasts an hour of so. We need a permanent solution.

Betsy where I live they have an animal officer. He drives around and he picks up mean dogs, stray cats too.I guess you dont have one there,he could trap that mean male cat and take him.Good luck!

    1. No animal officers here. I remember a time when you could call animal control for stuff like that but no more. They will lend you a trap..which I already have..but you're on your own after that.
