  1. Oh Betsy - these pictures are just stunning! I love the softness and the color in them.
Our flowering crab doesn't look like it's going to bloom this year, so I'm glad I can enjoy yours!

    1. thanks, Mari. You know, we had a peach tree like that...full of blossoms every year and then it just stopped! I still miss that tree! ha. Maybe it's a late bloomer so to speak? ha.

    2. thanks, Gloria! We built our house 23 years ago on a piece of land that had NO trees! So whenever we have planted, I pick a spot where I can enjoy them from inside. This one we planted to block the view from Mr. Neighbor man. lol. I see it when I stand at the kitchen sink.

    4. Have you lived there long?

I keep forgetting to tell you that when I was looking for a recipe on your blog I saw a photo you had of Christmas and we used to have the same couch as you...with dark blue one with the paisley pattern on it! Isn't that cool? We had the same!

      Delete
    5. Ha!really betsy?well i know we love the same things (lol)
We had live here about 7 years.

      Delete
    6. yes, really! Isn't that funny? Yes, we love the same things. :) We had to get rid of it after the triplets were done being potty trained, though. hahaha.

How are the kids with the computer?

They are sharing pretty well, actually. We've had to shoo Spencer away from Alex a few times but it hasn't been too bad!

    2. still want that pussy willow, though! ha.

Do you have any dogwood? Ours just opened up yesterday.

      Delete
    3. yes a white one in the front yard and it just opened as well. I'd like to plant a pink/red one or two at the edge of our newly cleaned out woods. When I was a little girl we had a big pussy willow. It was very pretty with it's soft little fuzzy's :)

      Delete
    4. We used to have a pussy willow when I was young, too! I was mesmerized by those fuzzy blooms! ha. Maybe that's why I want one now. That might be a good thing to ask for for Mother's Day.

Dogwoods along the edge of the woods would be so lovely!

      Delete
    5. That would be a great idea for Mother's Day! You'd get what you want and they would know what to get. win win :) We had a pansy redbud for a few years (we planted it) but a storm blew through and twisted/bent it but didn't break the bark. Strange. Unfortunately it was ruined!

      Delete
    6. I had to google pansy redbud. I guess that is the kind we have. At least the blossoms and shape is the same. Don't you had it when you loose a tree in a storm? We lost out only large shade tree like that a few years ago.

      Delete
    7. yeah I do, when my in laws lived here they lost 7-10 trees when Hurricane Isobel came roaring through. Completely changed the yard/landscape dynamics! It was quite a mess. Fortunately nothing worse happened!

      Delete
    8. Oh, that's awful. Ours was because of Hurricane Ike! Of course we just got the winds, but still they were strong enough to uproot trees and people were without power for 10-12 days around here! It was an ash tree, too...not a fragile soft wood. I guess we should have planted more large growing trees!

Speaking of pussy willows, I saw a beautiful wreath made of the branches. I'd love to be able to make one for my front door.

      Delete
    9. oh that wreath sounds pretty. I'm sure you could do it. My sister used to make silk flower arrangements for a shop in Holmes County. She was quite good at it :) for some reason you have always reminded me of her :)

      Delete
    10. Oh really? Oh, that's fun. Hope she's nice. lol. I would think those flexible willow branches would be quite easy to wrap into a wreath! And it wouldn't need any more adornment that itself! I'm going to look for some branches ...maybe at the florist!

    12. well, that sounds like YOU! :)

      Delete
    13. lol, well maybe you'll have to visit Holmes County next weekend when we do and you can meet her. Wouldn't be the first time my family has had complete strangers at a family gathering. Folks never leave as strangers though, we've made a lot of friends over the years like that :)

      Delete
    14. a family gathering? sounds fun. Are you bringing food? :)

    15. perhaps, and I learned everything I know from my 5 sisters and my Mom. ha - hope you emjoy your quiet day at home today and the java :)

  4. In full bloom at your sea
Very nice hanging from the tree
Just makes it that much more Mayberry around
Unless a crab apple is found
Then things might not be too shabby
    As you get all crabby..haha

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. ha..the birds eat the crab apples with cheer
although I did make jelly before down here.
Now that really sounds like Mayberry.
I bet Aunt Bea made jelly.
      lol.

      Delete
    2. hahaha I bet she did too
As she was aways making something come due
But the birds get them first
      Quenching their thirst
Then comes the kitties up the tree
Figuring they too have a meal for free

    3. The back porch was covered in bird feathers this morning
the cats were all smiles and no mourning.
Guess they had a celebration feast
that the big tom cat was finally beat.
      lol.

    4. hahaha hopefully it was the cardinal above
Then he couldn't feel the love
      With the mrs anymore
Outside the window at your shore..haha

      Delete
    5. I hope you meant it WASN'T the cardinal above! :)

      Delete
    6. Yes I meant it wasn't the cardinal from above that got chowed down on
It was late at my lawn
Plus these damn buttons don't work unless I hit them hard sometimes
Because the cat likes to chew them as he rhymes..haha

      Delete
    7. didn't think you had anything against Mr. Cardinal
wishing the Mrs was a widow.
Maybe it isn't your computer keys at all
and you just need coffee in your hall.
      Got my new maker yesterday
already finished a 12 cup pot at my bay.
      lol. I'm feeling REALLY awake
as I zip around the house and I clean and bake.
      ha.

  5. Too cold here for fruit trees. :(
Not sure if the fruit crops will survive this year.
Your crab apple sure is pretty. Mom used to have one of those. The flowers were gorgeous. The apples. not so much once they were smashed in the driveway. We cleaned them up by the bucketful.

    1. You know, we dont have many drop to the ground. They hang on all winter and then the birds pick them off. Isn't that odd? I remember having one in the yard as a child and they were always on the ground. It must be the variety of crab apple.

Hope it warms up there! It's still jacket weather here, but still very nice for March. I keep expecting a cold snap to come through again but so far it hasn't!

    2. Please do. Just not a bonsai. I kill those!!! :) lol

      Delete
    3. haha...I've never had a bonsai! They are beautiful. Do you kill all house plants? Are you washing them with soap like Omlette? haha Maybe an african violet would be nice...they even have similar blooms like my photos! :)

      Delete
    4. Betsy and Jax: ALl my bonsais I had are die:(
      are so special!

      Delete
    5. gloria ~ they must be hard to keep alive. But they are beautiful!

      Delete
    6. I think that should be your next challenge Betsy. Figure out how to keep a bonsai alive and kicking :) Word is, they need to be submerged in water or something. They are so pretty though! I wish I could keep em alive.

and violets sound very nice!!! And no worries, they don't suffer the same fate as Omlette. Although Madre and I used to take a day to dust each individual leaf on her indoor plants. LOL!!!!

  7. Love the photos, especially mr. Cardinal :-)

  8. Those blossoms are beautiful!

I just read a note on your sidebar about your son's computer not working. My mom has the same problem with hers! She took it to get it fixed and they called her today to say that the problem isn't what they thought it was and whatever it is that they did, didn't work. Not sure what she's gonna do now, that computer was pretty much her life, lol!

    1. yeah, when it does that with the screen, it's dead. I hope your mom gets a new one! Once you start using them all the time, it's hard to live without them! ha.
