Chickadees are my favorite. I think because of a story in a book I had as a little girl. It was "Johnny and the Birds" and his father let the chickadees into the barn in the winter to get warm.
Gloria ~ I have an identification book for North America, but sometimes I use a great website where you can look up birds in your area. I'll try to find it and give you the link!
Martha ~ I read that chickadees can be very tame and learn to eat from your hand! But you can't have a feeder or they will go there instead, of course. Fun!
adorable little birds for sure! ever cheerful and energetic. When my sister was very young she would come stay with us for a week at a time and one time when she was here she said to my husband,"chick-a-dee-dee-dee, what makes that noise?" haha, we still get a kick out of that one! too funny
I hope but Im still working, Im order the clothes to iron (lol) your boys chyange clothes alot? these kids change so many and I laundry because sometimes I dont know is clean or not. Betsy I saw the page is beautiful thanks, About I see I( have seen Flamingos (amazing) and Condors (beauty) is a nice page, thanks.
Gloria ~ my Taylor is like that. Sometimes I pick up clothes and if they still smell like clean laundry, I hang them back up instead of washing again. ha.
No wonder you only have two With your kitty crew I bet they love to see The Chickadee But yeah they can be fun to watch too And when the cat sees them in his view He wants lunch Makes his lips go crunch
yes, they all start the climb up the tree two at a time thinking they can catch a bird but I tell them it's absurd. Although they watched their mom do it a lot and they ate what she caught!
he is absolutely stunning Betsy! what a joy to wake up and to look at him so closely :-) we have lots of birds coming to the garden but the small ones are so easily frightened and nobody but me has the patience to stand still and look at them for long time ...
Blondie ~ I have a couple of trees right outside my window here in the kitchen where my desk is. The bird feeder is also there! So I can just sit and take photos out the window! ha. That way I don't scare them away by being outside.
oh Betsy, i meant through the window ... lol ... too cold to stand out ... but my men they move all the time, i can stand still and watch them for a long time but they cannot :-) and i need a better camera my zoom is not as good, i don't get the details ... not even on those huge ravens that come to our garden ... haha!
Birdie ~ I don't think the birds can see me. They don't move or get startled. But my desk is between me and the windows (see photo at the very bottom of my blog page) so maybe I'm back enough that I'm in the shadows. I've always thought, too, that they see a reflection of the outside in the glass...that's why occasionally one flies into the window. ha.
So I take it they didn't get the bird catching genes from their mom? I guess you tamed them too well with all the food and made them a little dumb..haha
Betsy, it just proves that your windows are super clean & the birds cannot see the glass ... :-) i saw your desk it's beautiful what a peaceful place to work from!
Birdie ~ haha...well, that explains why they never fly into the back french doors....the cats are always making them dirty. lol...yes, I do love my desk area in the kitchen. Those windows allow me to really enjoy the outdoors. We had a dusting of snow this morning! Always makes to nice photos!
yay, huray for the snow :-) it's melting down here slowly ... i knew i had to run out with my camera while it was white the other day ... haha! oh the cats too? Mr. T does that as well with his nose, then the little pumpkin a bit higher and yes there are marks from my husband as well ... lol
Oh, I wish I could images like these, you must have an incredible zoom or how can you get so close to the birds? Scandinavian birds will fly away when you are within 5 meters from them. Absolutely stunning capture.;) xoxo
We have lots of chickadees, but I never get tired of watching them!
