Blackberries

I couldn't resist these huge blackberries at the grocery
this week! Too beautiful to make into preserves,
we're just popping them into our mouths
as a healthy snack!

  2. Oh my, they do look delicious. I wonder how they would do mixed with blueberries in a pie or just them alone in a pie. I love berry pies. But I guess just eating them fresh is the healthiest way to eat them.

    God bless.

  3. Mrs. U ~ I bet they would be delish! I've made blackberry crisp many times...yum.

They were grown in California...I thought of you!

  4. Oh such healthy food you say
    Really makes my day
Yeah sure we'll go with that
I wouldn't want to be a toxic cat
    And have you avoid me
Figuring it was time to flee..haha

  5. Oh Yumm!! We just got back from a little trip to Santa Barbara, when my dearest preached at a Retirement Center for a friend who is the Chaplin had knee surgery.

On the way home we stopped at a delightful fruit stand, and I got juicy peaches, sweet navel oranges, the yellow squash, giant beefstake tomatoes.... I can't can't wait to get in the kitchen!!!! Nothing is better than FRESH!

  8. Pat ~

I know you'd rather pop a pill than a blackberry.
As you think they are rather hairy.
The freshness would probably cause a vein to pop
and after fainting you would drop!
Then a fit you would throw
as you laid on the floor.
    lol....

You've been reading my sidebar I see!
No, toxic you could never be!
And you know I think it's so
since I'm always at your show!
Heck, I'm still humming your tune.
The family thinks I'm a loon!

  9. I'm sure your floor is at least clean
So if I started having a fit like a jumping bean
I wouldn't have to worry about germs getting on me
    Not flaring up my ocd
So it just be the pain
    Of popping a vein
Oh look what your food will do
Yep read it and laughed as it applies to you know who
Look my song made you a loon
Maybe I should make a full blown cartoon..haha

  10. If a cartoon you make
    my head will shake
as I'm sure it would be funny
    just include my bunny!

  27. Grown in CA, oh my, I now feel the urge to try and find a farmer's market to see if they have any. They used to have one in the city beside us but it was closed down to build new houses. With over 37 million people in this state they kept building houses. Now we have too many houses and no one buying. They should have left the farmer's market.

Sometimes Costco sells some nice fresh berries, but I know they will not be as fresh as the ones you bought. I guess I will have to check around. Maybe try this expensive organic grocery store a few cities over.

I do have some frozen blueberries and a cobbler does sound good.

    God bless.

  42. I love blackberries! I miss just walking out in the fields and picking all I wanted. It hurts paying so much at the store, but still I do because they taste so good!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Those look yummy, but they're very expensive here in our shops. The free-for-picking wild ones seem often to be hard and sour these days.
