Purple is the Creative Tuesday theme this time around! Not really a favorite color of mine, even though I did just change the color of my living room walls to a purplish gray color to match my eggplant colored leather sofa. Hm. Maybe I like purple more than I realized! And there certainly are a lot of flowers that are purple! Lilac, lavender, violets, lilies, grape hyacinth, etc. When I got a beautiful Mother's Day e-card from one of my dearest friends, featuring some lovely spring blooms, I knew I had my inspiration for this drawing!
Plum pink
Ume lavender
Reddish blue
Periwinkle violet
Lilac blackberry
Eggplant

Did you know Ume was a pinkish purple flower? haha...well, neither did I, but since I needed a "U" I'm glad I found it! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, I love it all, the bottle and flowers and the nest and eggs..awesome! :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute picture. I love Ball mason jars...what a perfect vase for your lovely purple flowers...and I learned a new color too. How nice. And I always look for a little bird or nest...in your sketches..and you didn't dissapoint me.
ReplyDeletewhat a sweet painting. I love the flowers in the Ball mason jar..that just reminds me of summer! I love the addition of the nest, too. sweet details as always! xo
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and delicate looking Betsy!
ReplyDeleteVery colorful. Surprised you didn't wait until the mama bird that laid those eggs had arrived, for your shot. :)
ReplyDeletenice. love that you used a mason jar!
ReplyDeleteVery nice and I also love that you used a Mason jar.
ReplyDeleteThanks, guys! I rarely put a bouquet in a conventional vase. There are so many other fun containers! One of my favorites is using a blue mason jar from my collection.
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful! I love the mason jar vase! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are so good at these word - plays.;)) And the drawing is fantastic.;)
ReplyDeleteI like certain shades of deep purple, particularly when mixed with orange or yellow.;)
Have a great day dear Betsy,
xoxo
I love it! the Flowers, the Ball jar, the bird nest... Doing a Ball jar is on my list of things I want to paint! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteWow and not one bird to be seen
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should have went with green..lol
Yes there were eggs but they don't count
Even if you had more than one in your amount
Anyway now that my dig is done
And I've had my fun
Very nice picture once more
Here at your not so purple shore
Maybe you just see purple now
And start to think wow
Bet you could find lots of another color too
If it was presented to you
Look I went off once more
Time I open my work drawer
Oh and never heard of a Ume at all
Though the green thumb for me never did call
Such a pretty piece. I love purple, too. Lilacs are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Betsy. Such subtle colouring and I love the addition of the nest with its little eggs. It looks like it was painted with love.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, purple is one of my favorite colors. There are so many shades to work with. Your picture is darling. The jar is the neatest. Great job.
ReplyDeleteQMM
Thanks, QMM. The lettering on the jar was the hardest part! :)
ReplyDeletePat ~
ReplyDeleteNo bird, but I had to sneak in a nest
I think that's best
for this drawing of mine
as the purple had to shine.
Yet it wouldn't be complete
without your little dig to me
so I expected you to say
it was birdless to your dismay!
lol....
That's beautiful. Purple is hard to pin down because it soon becomes blue or go the other way and it soon becomes pink! The jar is particularly awesome :)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful bouquet and I really love the jar!

ReplyDeleteSee, Pat ~ Christine says my nest counts! lol....
ReplyDeleteI am eagerly awaiting my lilacs and practicing a bit of sneezing in preparation for their arrival.
ReplyDeleteClever acrostic too along with the artwork. Especially like the stalks in the jar. Well done, Betsy. Now, are those mini birds from those eggs? :)
ReplyDeleteMmm ~ oh yes, I see your point. The nest is quite small in proportion to the jar. See...I need lessons!
ReplyDeleteMartha ~ Mine are blooming! And I've been sneezing all week! ha.
ReplyDeleteLove the flowers!
ReplyDeleteDelightful, as always! I love all the purple flowers in the jar. The lettering is perfect. And another of your fun acrostics. I so enjoyed this CT entry.

ReplyDeleteI love purple! My favorite color. I guess that's why so many of my favorite flowers were listed in your post. I love your drawing. The mason jar and bird's eggs in the nest add just the right touch.
