"It's not very far from bread and water
to tea and toast!"
Susan Branch
I've been on a toast kick lately for my late breakfast (it's coffee only until around 10:00) Whole wheat toast with real butter and sour cherry preserves has been my favorite. What's your favorite thing to spread on your toast?
♥
Sometimes apple butter, sometimes butter and strawberry jam.
ReplyDeleteThose are my favorites EXACTLY!!
ReplyDeleteNutella!!!!
ReplyDeletetanna ~ great minds, you know... ha.

Food and the cat
While mostly for Pat
Just doesn't get along

Strawberry jam, peach jam, apple butter.... peanut butter...... Anything extremely sweet with little health value. :)
ReplyDeleteCat ~ sounds like a food fight! :)
ReplyDeleteKim ~ cinnamon and sugar was my favorite growing up!
ReplyDeletePeanut butter... but I prefer English Muffins to toast.
ReplyDeleteRaspberry preserves with lots of real butter and a good cup of tea, or havarti cheese with a slice of tomato on nutty multi grain bread toasted.....MMMMMM
ReplyDeleteLots of real butter...and homemade apricot/pineapple jam on multigrain toast.
ReplyDeleteWanda ~ we're just finishing up some pear preserves I made. Now I need to try pineapple...that would be a new one for us and I know The Mister would love it!
ReplyDeleteFawne ~ YUM! Now you're making me hungry! :)
ReplyDeleteSilver ~ now I could have swore you were going to say swiss cheese and sausage!
ReplyDeletePeanut butter sprinkled with ground flax seed, and a bit of honey if I'm feeling decadent.
ReplyDeleteWell, I was thinking more of condiments or toppings as opposed to sandwich "fixings."
ReplyDeleteKathy G ~ now there's one I haven't tried! Of course by now, everyone knows I like my peanut butter on crackers with a pickle. lol...
ReplyDeletemmm...i prefer an english muffin with butter...and black berry preserves....
ReplyDeleteI'm all about the whole Dutchy thing. Cheese with jam on toast. When I was growing up I thought that's what everyone ate. Guess not.
ReplyDeleteJanelle ~ now see...that is something I've not had either! I wonder if that's where the cheddar cheese with apple pie comes from?
ReplyDeletebutter slathered ever so generously and orange marmalade.
ReplyDeletegrowing up my very English/Irish mother made toast and tea for breakfast everyday! I hadn't thought about that in a long time...
Creamed Honey!! I used to love cinnamon and sugar too. My very favourite on toast, although not a spread, is grilled tasty cheese!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlaine ~ I haven't had creamed honey since I was a little girl. It was delish and I've completely forgotten about it! I don't think I've even seen it in the grocery...now I must search for it! :)
ReplyDeleteoh this looks fantastic, thanks for the breakfast idea, Betsy!
ReplyDeleteWell, everything is better with butter! :-)
ReplyDeleteStrawberry preserves with real butter...yum!
ReplyDeleteUnsalted butter, sugar, cinnamon, peanut butter. In that order. Have a great Sunday!
ReplyDeletePS, I thought of you this morning .. an article made its way into our little newspaper .. on autism and the struggles of families with young adults transitioning from education into the great beyond.
Thanks, Helen. You know, I think our newpaper had that exact same thing in it!
ReplyDeletehomemade apple butter
ReplyDeletebut your tart cherries sound delicious
Vegemite of course. Although I send some to an American friend and he has it on crackers with mustard and 'summer sausage' whatever that is. Disgusting.
ReplyDeleteBaino...love summer sausage. Not for breakfast, though. :)
ReplyDeletePeanut butter!
ReplyDeleteyeah... hee hee
ReplyDeleteI don't eat toast very often but I do love to butter it and then add a little cinnamon sugar.
ReplyDeletepeanut butter and banana, or lemon curd, though i prefer lemon curd in the afternoon as a collation.

Love me some whole wheat toast with honey or jam.
ReplyDeleteI love toast! My favorite standby is real butter and honey, although lately I've been mashing and spreading avocado on my toast. Delish!
ReplyDeleteSomeone gave me home-made orange marmalade flavoured with cinammon and cloves. It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeletesurely everyone would say, butter, right? Well, actually i usually use canola oil spread or something akin. So, if that's a given, then, it would have to strawberry jam but i do love Pb too actually. and wash it all down with tea as you have here.
